Man I just was expecting to see Dre performs with Lil' Wayne Rick Ross and Nicky Bitchaj but thanks God that was just a bad way of thinking. I'm glad that todays biggest name in Hip-Hop (Not Hip-Pop) is performing with his ol' crew, his ol' homies. +1 for Dre. And to bring back 'Pac and Nate? Ya that was hella random. Snoop switched up a bunch of the lyrics too yet they still had everlast's vocals playing so it didn't sound great. It's a good song to get the crowd going but was pretty poorly executed.

I think the Tupac hologram was one of the most ridiculous idea's ever. Having him on screen is ok. But a hologram that "talks with Dre and Snoop?" Weird and creepy.

So happy I caught that shit live on youtube! The 2pac hologram brought 2pac back to life!! For about 10 minutes it was like Pac was still alive. I wasn't even high but that shit felt like I was tripping.
Then 50 and Em even came out and ripped it. Wiz Khalifa and Snoop had a nice piece on there, Kendrick Lamar did his joint with Dre.
But Dre looks ripped as a mutherfucker, he didn't seem like some old dude on stage, him and Snoop tore the roof off that mutherfucker!!!!! That was unbelievable!!!!! Best concert footage I've ever seen!!!!!!!!!

Hell Yeah!!!!!!! I was thinking the same shit, when Em came on and performed "Lights Go Out" I was ready for a Nate hologram to come on stage. But for real, the 2pac hologram was some of the coolest shit I've ever seen in my life. Especially not knowing it was coming!!!

It's always good to see Dre and Snoop perform together on stage. The band was on point as usual. I was glad to see Warren get a little shine on Ain't No Fun. It would have been nice if he did Regulate though. I don't have any problem with the Pac hologram. They manipulated his voice again, but at least it wasn't manipulated on an album this time. I was disappointed that the Nate Dogg hologram wasn't used. It would have been cool to see it at the end of The Next Episode. Who knows? 25 years from now, they may all be holograms.

it gives a glimpse of what a new "up in smoke" type of tour could look like. solid performances by all the artists even though i'm not a huge fan of the catalogue played here. the live band was dope as well. the Hologram was very creepy lol, i think on screen would have been better.

motion sensers on a impersonater in a studio, rendered a hologram, used lazers to replicate it, guessing (source = pro sound and video tech BSc student) clever CLEVER stuff anyhow!

it gives a glimpse of what a new "up in smoke" type of tour could look like. solid performances by all the artists even though i'm not a huge fan of the catalogue played here. the live band was dope as well. the Hologram was very creepy lol, i think on screen would have been better.
I thought the live version of "Forgot About Dre" was ill how they added extra cuts and scratches and chopped it up

The audience at Coachella, and even those viewing from home, were amazed at Tupac taking the stage during Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre's performance. Now the creator behind it talks on the technology.
The creator of the much-talked about Tupac appearence at Coachella 2012 spoke out about the new hologram technology to MTV News.
Nick Smith is the president of AV Concepts, the company that created the technology. He talks about working with Dr. Dre to bring Tupac back, how much it would cost to make one and more.
Read what he had to say below.
"We worked with Dr. Dre on this and it was Dre’s vision to bring this back to life. It was his idea from the very beginning and we worked with him and his camp to utilize the technology to make it come to life.”
Smith said he wasn’t allowed to talk about the creative aspects of the production — including how the hologram was able to seemingly perform the set in synch with Snoop and whether all the vocals were ‘Pac’s — but he did say that his company has the ability to recreate long-dead figures and visually recreate them in the studio. "You can take their likenesses and voice and … take people that haven’t done concerts before or perform music they haven’t sung and digitally recreate it," he said.
The hologram was the latest visual magic pulled off by AV, which is also behind the 2005 Grammys performance featuring Madonna and the holographic members of the Gorillaz, as well as holograms used in concert by Celine Dion and the Black Eyed Peas.
The Tupac hologram was several months in the planning and took nearly four months to create in a studio and though Smith was not able to reveal the exact price tag for the illusion, he said a comparable one could cost anywhere from $100,000 to more than $400,000 to pull off. "I can’t say how much that event cost, but I can say it’s affordable in the sense that if we had to bring entertainers around world and create concerts across the country, we could put [artists] in every venue in the country" he said.

It was nice to see Dre on a west coast gangster tip. That's the Dre all west coast fans fell in love with. With the rumors that he's been working with Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj etc, it was just nice to see him on stage with Snoop rocking west coast gangsta classics w/ Kurupt, Warren G etc

As an avid Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre fan for the past decade-plus, I had astronomical expectations for this show. I must say that it met them all and that the set was worth every penny of my Coachella investment. The chemistry between the duo is still so evident, and Dre was a lot more comfortable on stage than I anticipated. Those who watched the Grammy's after party and MNET performances know he's looked a little stiff the last couple times he's performed live. Not the case here - he seemed carefree and happy to rock again.
A few random notes from a spectator's perspective:
- Taylor Gang supporter or not, "Young, Wild, and Free" proved an undeniable highlight. Snoop and Wiz have a really organic rapport, and Wiz's glee at sharing the stage with his mentor was obvious. I've never been the biggest Wiz fan, but his guest spot was perfectly suited to Coachella's uninhibited vibe.
- Loved the Nate Dogg memorial. The collection of rare photos backing an enthusiastic rendition of "Ain't No Fun' proved a fitting, respectful tribute. Kurupt hasn't lost a step when it comes to delivering that verse either.
- The Tupac hologram was cool, although I can see why people are divided on it. There was something a little unsettling about that reveal, from the blackness preceding its emergence to the ominous, Frankenstein-esque electrical buzz. Ultimately I think Dre had good intentions. It was an undoubtedly unique stunt, and has succeeded in getting people worldwide talking. I can only imagine it looked more impressive face-on though, as from the side of the stage it's "flatness" was more apparent.
- 50 Cent seemed reinvigorated compared to his lagging SXSW appearance. Perhaps it was the validation of sharing the stage with Snoop and Dre, but whatever the cause he performed like he had something to prove.
- Eminem was a pleasant non-surprise, although I wish his set list had differed. The dubstep version of "Forgot About Dre" was unnecessary, and it's disappointing that they rocked "I Need A Doctor" out of all the great Dre/Em collabs ("Guilty Conscience," "What's The Difference.") Still, he can never go wrong with a rallying "Til I Collapse."
- It's a testament to Snoop and Dre that I was left wanting a whole lot more come the finale. Songs like "Dre Day," "Let Me Ride," "B Please," etc, were conspicuously absent. As a result, I can't help be tempted by the notion that they will switch their set up next week. (Anyone got a weekend two pass?!)
All in all, an unforgettable moment for West Coast Hip-Hop and a fine reunion for one of the greatest duos our genre has produced. Look forward to seeing what Tha Doggfather and Five Star Surgeon General have up their sleeve for this Sunday.

True. Watching it on a computer you can see that it was impressive, but it comes off as a little cheesy. I'm guessing it would have been better to have actually seen it as part of the audience.
