This is obviously discluding the whole Gangstarr clique, Group Home, Jeru, Afu-Ra, NYG'z etc. But who do you think has proved to have the best producer, MC partnership with Primo over the years. I am going to have to go with Nas, cause everything that they have done together has been near perfection, and his tracks kept some of the mid career Nas albums from slipping into mediocre territory.
What do y'all think?
-
i was going to go with jeru but since you said none of the gangstarr clique then i'd have to go with nas.
-
I'll have to go with Nas... Primo has done production on every Nas album except "God's Son" and the results have always been incredible. The two have created timeless classics together. (N.Y. State Of Mind Pt. I & II, I Gave You Power, Represent etc...). Primo also gave his illest beat ever to Nas for "Nas Is Like" IMO. The two has this explosive chemistry together, makes you wish for a collabo album... so yes, Nas is my pick for DJ Premier's "perfect partner". ;)
Peace

Ive listen to several of them with Primo...the best is by far Rakim
Listen to "When I be on the mic" thats better then "Nas is Like"

Outta those...Nas. Primo really kinda saved "I Am" and most of the other cuts they've done together are dope as hell too. Big L and Primo did sum great shit too, tracks like "Ebonics (Premo mix)" and "Platinum Plus" are straight classics
-
1. M.O.P.
2. Rakim
I see Nas is in the lead with 5 votes, but I guess Nas would even win the poll for best producer on this board.
Nas + Alchemist is much doper, IMO.
-
^^^^ Nas can definitely not touch Primo as a producer, but he knows howta produce too, listen to "Get Down", the production's pretty tight
-
BIG L
-
Royce Da 5'9.
-
I went with Nas. "Represent", "Nas Is Like", "Come Get Me", "2nd Childhood"...
-
Are you guys smoking, it's got to be Biggie.
Kick In The Door was straight heat
10 Crack Commandments was tight as hell
and Unbelievable was one of the greatest pure hip-hop songs ever.
