Title: I know it's a tired topic, but....
Post by: _That_Cracka_J on February 18, 2003, 07:00:50 PM
..........I picked up this month's issue of The Source and finally I'm through buying it!  This was the weakest issue I have ever read.  And the thing is they didn't cover ANY west coast artists in ANY section of the magazine.  No west advertisements, no articles, interviews, album reviews, albums coming soon....the only thing close is in the "Fat Tape" section where they list 2Pac and Outlawz song "Fame".  No, wait, under the singles file they list Xzibit "Symphony in X major" and Roscoe ft. Mr. Kane "Get ready".  Out of all the advertisements (which are MANY), only 3 are for CD's!  Don't get me wrong, I listen to music from every part of the country, but it looks like they are REALLY PURPOSELY trying to diss the west.  This is the last issue of The Source I will buy.  From now on I will read it at the magazine rack if by some chance there is an article I actually want to read.

Word, politics fucked up the sauce a long time ago. The sad thing is that from a jouranlistic viewpoint it isn't a bad magazine - the actual writers are far, far superior than anyone on Murder Dog or whatever in terms of word-for-word writing ability. But good writing can't save a magazine that has no shame whatsoever...

It's the March issue right, this one?

I really wanna get my hands on that one... anxious to see what BS they have in store this time. The February issue was straight garbage... but I think I'll cop this new one just out of curiousity.

"Hip Hop Under Attack" huh? Hip-hop is all of a sudden under attack? I hope they have some good arguments this time. Lame-ass bitches ::)

same here, its been bullshit, im glad everyone else is finally realizing it. I dont like any hip hop publications tho, with the internet there aint nuthin in them i didnt already know.

Murder dog is coo and Rime's aight since they feature good artists, but like dude said the journalism and editing in those two is pretty bad, sometimes worse.

I agree, when you open the magazine there are first about 15 pages of advertisements, tommy hilfiger, calvin klein etc....it's more advertisement than good interviews and stuff...
