I haven't been posting much just because Soopafly hasn't been doing much lately, but i still check the boards near every day and view the posts i wanna view and skip the ones i don't.
I just hope they keep these boards the same format/style they are now. I really dislike the new Dubcnn main page set up. I hardly ever go there anymore. I liked it when it was much simpler.

Word! I've been thinking the same thing but I never made a thread about it because since the majority on this forum are stuck in the 90's and its been proven. I can make a troll thread of anything with Dr Dre or snoop dogg title and it will get more views than any quality thread out there.
There should be a two sub forums 90's era generation and new current rappers.
Categorize new rappers who have been out since 06' - 07' till now as new and anyone before that old and crusty.
And mods deffenatley need to update the forum with the news as most of us don't even check the front page as often.
Give it a test run and see how it works out. I will deffenatly check out both forums as I'm still a fan of the old school but I also want to see more news on dom Kennedy, veggies, nip hustle, TDE etc....

I've been here for over a year. In that time nothing special has come out, no bangers.
Some of the artists they are promoting on the main page are people I've never heard of before.

i been on this site since 06'. it has its ups and downs personally i think the trolls do get annoying i guess. but im not on here that much for them to really bug me. so i'd say we need more exclusive interviews like we used to have on big artists.

Been here a while and although the forum was better when I joined (when BlaQKout dropped) and the music is declining generally IMO now but I actually think the forum is getting better since Mike died and the sauce crew lost interest so much. KP posts here now and again to get his props and they got another forum to kick it but people are actually starting to engage in conversation more instead of all the constant shit talk
Personally I was getting bored with WC music but Kendrick restored my faith in the coast. As for the main page I never look at it

I think this place partly fell the fuck off due to west coast music sadly being just not THAT good anymore....
Im sorry but 2001/2002 for example had some really good albums drop, DPG was exciting, Xzibit was boomin, the bay area was busy,
there were a few good beefs to....then slowly slowly....things got worse and worse musically...

This is a site dedicated to Westcoast hip hop. Westcoast hip hop has been steadily declining for over a decade (decreasing output, weak label backing with insufficient budgets, artists growing past their prime, not enough influx of talented new artists to offset the old ones declining, etc.). Since westcoast hip hop has been steadily declining, it makes sense to me that a forum dedicated to declining music itself will decline. That's what we're seeing happening here.
I think it's pretty understandable whey Dubcc has fallen off.

It's not really that hard to figure out. The sound this forum is based on discussing has been out of date for nearly 20 years. How long can you really discuss the same thing?
It's simple, get with the times and talk about things that come out in this century, have mods control people like Radiotube and Brian and other obvious trolls and give me the keys and we'll all get rich. Good music is good music - who gives a fuck when it has been recorded. The problem with this place is now almost every thread made is turning out into some bullshit. You got idiots running this spot, dissing others and calling everybody "wiggers", bumping 10 year old threads and all that played out shit and it seems like no one gives a fuck about banning those dudes or kept them away so they won't ruin interesting topics.
As far as myself goes, I'll try to contribute as much as I can. There are some good shows in Poland coming out later this year (Kendrick Lamar 8), Cypress Hill) with West Coast acts featured so I would try to get interviews done and post it for y'all :)

Problem is there is nothing much of substance that is somewhat new being discussed. It's the same conversations about which N.W.A. album was better or Tupac album or Death Row. The discussions themselves are played out. I check in here from time to time but there is nothing much interesting being talked about.

What's missing is modern classics in rap. Kendrick just dropped an incredible album by modern West Coast standards. But what's out next? Who's making moves like Kendrick?

thread pretty much speaks for itself. what irks me a little is how much time people put into complaining about what the next man is interested in instead of populating their own threads and generating discussion. that's what makes me think that half the people here have no intention of logging on to discuss music in the first place. personally i'm gonna post about the material i'm interested in and not spend time entering threads that don't interest me to strike up arguments with a poster i don't like, troll people, etc etc.
if the board has a lot of people who want to talk about 90s death row music a lot of the time, it doesn't really bother me, that's their thing. if a thread i post doesn't get any hits, i'm not gonna complain that anyone needs to change their tastes or whatever. there just wasn't any interest in it - no skin off mine or anyone else noses. the whole bickering about what everybody else is posting or where they're coming from, be it geographically or muscially, seems more insecure than anything.

One problem i have is i import my cds from America and i wait until i receive them before i listen to the album so by the time i post feed back/my opinion the discussion threads are already dead :D
Cant deny i sleep on lots of newer stuff, i used to download heaps of songs from the main page, when it had the old lay out and every so often i will bump all that shit and there's great songs that i was sleeping on. But they weren't really discussed most the time.
I sleep on some new rappers i guess but when something cool like a new Raskass album or hieroglyphics album comes out there doesn't seem to be any interest.

I think Kendrick was the only dude who got hyped and actually release material for his fanbase to spread around the world. Look where the "New West" mothafuckers are at right now. Theres no one relevant other than Black Hippy guys.
Black Hippy really deserves a lot of credit for keeping their words and releasing shit for people to keep interest in west.

I think that has a lot to do with proper management on their side. Keep releasing mixtapes to build interest but dish out an album when the time is right, for fuck's sake! That's where a lot of rappers or, like I think their respective management, fail. And IMO that's the strength of TDE, securing good deals (musicwise, I don't know or care bout the financial aspect) for their artists.

This! Would he have gone gold? Fuck no, but he would've got rid of the pressure. Crook is scared as fuck of going wood IMO, only problem is that that situation's getting worse and worse. Had he released an album years ago, releasing a second and third would've been much easier and he might be closer to droppin the classic he wants to drop. And since he is indie, the only thing holding him back is himself.
Macklemore is a prime example for how it should be done (even though nobody can guarantee you that kind of success). Nice coincidence that he got features from two TDE artists.

His popularity decreased a lot since Kendrick and TDE blew up so I don't see this happen no time soon... he will prolly sit on his debut album like Crooked did years back which is a real shame.

but at least Crooked is making moves in the industry still (dropping that Psalm project with 18 original songs on it last summer, touring with Slaughterhouse etc)
