no actual layout changes on the test site today, apart from how the dubcnn.com thing appears
reviewed the links i posted above, collected all the ideas and information, proritized what HAS to be done versus the rest, being pragmatic and heading right for the goal, will circle back and fill in the gaps after
rough list of tasks
1 - finish final layout fixes including ad banner stuff
2 - do a dry test run of exporting dubcc data to dubcnn with dubcc only closed to copy the database to make sure no snags
(and get an idea of timings) dubcc will be closed for a hour or three, nothing more.
2a - testing move forum sections around (proved there's a nicer way to do this in the new forum software)
2b - test script that fixes links in posts from dubcc/forum to the new location
3 - upload this new version of the data over the test forum currently on dubcnn..
if everything goes well.. the final move won't be far behind
there'll be a post for "snagging" where issues are reported when you're using the new forum and a post for "ideas" of things i can look into..
priority is on getting the move done and not spending time investigating other things til its done unless they're standard features

- dubcnn link thing (just a dummy board that goes to dubcnn)
- another section - non west coast music stuff
- outbound (non west coast, and and non-rap)
- the studio (keystyle, production etc)
- the vault (merge in album review and release dates?)
- the swap meet
- Lifestyle section
- the lounge (g-spot + train of thought + entertainment, movies and gaming merged)
- sports bar
so thats a 3x3x2 or 2x3x2 as the dubcnn link isn't a real board

yesterday i started a dry run, i took a copy of the forum as it is now, and started pretending i was doing the real migrate
this was midday sunday, its 930am monday morning, my pc at home was on overnight and its still going, but nearly done.
looks like when it happens for real i'll have to start this on say a friday night/saturday morning first thing, and hope to have it done by the sunday evening
that parts more hassle than i thought it would be.

I stumbled across the One Nation thread that I just replied to on there, why does it make you log in again? Why can't you just merge dubcc and dubcnn?

i'm working on a way to make the database convert to the new forum version happen fast. if i did it the way i've tested before now it could take over a week, i'm hoping to only have the forum down for a weekend - if that
i'd rather the forum is down for a little as poss and it take longer, than take it offline for too long

Yes, but not really feeling it. Light blue is too bright and looks cheap. It's your site though.

right now i want to focus on getting the move done and get "snagging" for issues with that out of the way.

looks ok on my machine at home, but quickly posting from my laptop and i can see how bright the test site is.

- last week got the script that updates the links so that all the links in the forum that go to other posts will be updated to work in the new location
- got my new development VM (the one i sped the migration up fast previously) up and running to edit templates again. now its on n popping

It might be mobile videos aka m. youtube .com .. I changed some stuff on the word filter to help with embedding, could be that too. I'll check when I get on a pc.

i think it must be down to a few things 1) the format of the video at youtubes end, and 2) the link..
there are no options for the script.. i've enabled everything it supports for all kinds of video sites
