If Snoop drops a "Doggumentary" type of album, it would be fine for me! A Just Blaze produced/Nipsey Hussle featured song is a very good sign  8)

Haven't really enjoyed a Snoop-album since Blue Carpet Treatment.. sure, Ego Trippin, Malice N Wonderland & Doggumentary had it's bangers, but I miss the time when you could play a Snoop-album front to back..
BCT is 10 years ago, so would be about time.  8)

And like everyone know, that's impossible. At least, a g rap album haha. I don't expect DoggyStyle or Tha Last Meal but when we listen to what Kendrick Lamar or Anderson Paak can release this days, I think Snoop could record similar things, I mean, some interesting things.

a DoggyStyle or Tha Last Meal was the only thing he sounds good in
a Kendrick Lamar or Anderson Paak style will not work for him at his age plus snoop uses ghostwriters these days it will sound fake as hell
snoop should just stick to being a celebrity

doggumentary was mediocre, so i duno bout that......7 dayz of funk was heat, the last great snoop project. snoop seems to drop somethin every year tho, just did that joint wit daz, which was released as an official album. and bush a few months prior to that, which i thought was nice, but coulda been better. interested in seeing which direction he goes in for this one.

Depending on which direction he decides to go, Snoop has some more good music in the tank.

It's almost a guarantee this won't happen but I really hope him and Dre give us some new music for possibly the last time.

I might be in the minority here but I still think Snoop puts out dope albums.  I thought Bush was solid and liked that he was cutting down his tracklists.  My biggest critique of his is that he fills his projects with lots of tracks and sometimes, it doesn't feel cohesive byt all in all, I thought Doggumentary was incredible and that Mac and Devin soundtrack with Wiz was fire.  Never felt compelled to listen to the Snoop Lion reggae album and haven't heard the funk one either.  Snoop still has it.

naah, smokefest is a snoop album.....like i said, it just wasnt released nationally, only sold at his shows originally. i remember how rare it was to get back n the day even.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smokefest_Underground

theres the writings on it.....it wasnt released to stores because there was no label behind it, so he had to be slick about distributing it, but it's still an album he put out himself.

dead man walkin was unreleased tracks that suge was sittin on when snoop left death row, so suge just decided to release it as an album to a.bank and b.fuck wit snoop by undermining the release of last meal. i remember this like it was yesterday.

A compilation is generally an album comprised of songs by different artists .. Wiki has that and dead man walkin under compilations, but they're not, they're solos. If u read the description, it's referred to as a snoop album and tells you why it wasn't distributed widely.

That's why I said generally .. But this is neither. It's just an album snoop released on the underground circuit. Are you having trouble finding it online? How rare is it nowadays? Would like to know cuz I still got my copy.

Can't believe I forgot the snoop lion project.   I really felt that was a great project top to bottom, video and album.  Going on a journey with snoop in his spiritual quest I really felt that.  It is also the album that really helped me bond with my son, and just like I fell in love with hiphop upon first seeing snoop on the "wit a dre day" video my son, a generation later got into snoop thru the reincarnation album.   I will never forget the day we we first got the album and listened to it on the way to the royals baseball game and then the next morning he went and told his teacher he loved Snoop and that snoop was his favorite rapper.  I was so proud of my son.

When it's previously unreleased material, it's generally not referred to as a compilation.. It's an unofficial solo put out by suge.

Sure, you can call it a "solo", but it's a compilation of unreleased songs that were recorded for different projects that somebody decided to put together and release.

Since suge put it out, sure .. But you can say that about any album almost, because a lot of times, albums don't consist only of material recorded specifically for that album. You compile the best tracks and put out the best product possible, whether it was recorded wit the album in mind or not .. So really, every album is a compilation of tracks. To compile just means to put together .. But suge released it as the album snoop was meant to put out on death row following doggfather. I count it as a snoop album, and most def count smokefest as one since snoop put that out himself.

Yeah, i feel you, but some of the songs on "Dead Man Walkin" were supposed to be on "Tha Doggfather". "Hit Rocks" was supposed to be on the LBC Crew album. "Head Doctor" was a Swoop G song. "C-Walkin" was remade by Big Hutch. "Midnight Love" was supposed to be on that EP that you're talkin' about, but it didn't end up on "Dead Man Walkin" though.

Plus, Snoop Dogg basically released independently his "SmokeFest" compilation which was previously an shelved Death Row project, just like "Doggumentary" EP. Some of the previously unreleased tracks which appeared in "Dead Man Wakin" (Snoop Doggy Dogg As His Best) and the Death Row Greatest Hits came from this era. Everybody can say, now, that Death Row was still dead but "Until The End Of Time", "Dead Man Walkin", "Snoop Doggy Dogg Greatest Hits" or "Tha Dogg Pound 2002" were quality compilations released by Death Row, still alvi thanks to his vault. But yeah, just like compilations.

And relapse was a compilation of tracks intended for detox .. It doesn't make it any less of a solo album.

Who said that? The beats maybe, but the songs? I doubt that.

But yeah, just like compilations.

yea, most of those beats were intended for detox.......so technically, it's a compilation of detox beats wit eminem rappin over em. u get the drift bro.

The Just Blaze track that he previewed in the IG video just might be the best Snoop track I've heard in ten years. For whoever said he needs to go gangster on that one - don't worry, he does. It's basically a nostalgia trip for fans of vintage Snoop - a lot of nods to his classic lyrics ("it's still 187 if you bitch n****s need that"; "creeping through the fog," etc.) but delivered with an energy that's been missing from his recent material. He truly sounds reinvigorated on this track. Rest of the album is shaping up nicely too - even the Swizz collaborations pleasantly surprised me, considering I've never imagined their styles meshing on paper.

Besides rebuilding his DoggyStyle Records, Snoop Dogg is ready to release his next solo LP, more than 20 years after the release of the label's namesake Doggy Style. The new album is slated to drop July 1, according to an Instagram post and Facebook live session that Snoop Dogg hosted today (May 23).

The Long Beach legend released his "Late Nights" single on 4/20.

For his new album, Snoop has been cooking with Just Blaze, who discussed the direction that they are working towards.

"Some of the stuff that I’ve been working on lately just kind of felt like an updated version of that old Death Row sound, kind of an updated G-Funk," he says. "I just started working on these tracks and they had a lot of those similar elements, just felt like newer versions of that feeling."

DoggyStyle and The Doggfather were both released on Death Row Records.

The Doggfather's last output was Bush, which was released last May. This project was exclusively produced by Pharrell.

Snoop Dogg is set to embark on "The High Road Tour" with Wiz Khalifa, which starts July 20, where people can probably expect him to perform some of his new tracks.

sounds like it's gonna be a good one.

loved the hell of out bush, but it felt more like a side project and a pharrell thing than a mainline snoop album, if that makes sense.

hope he has something with quik or dre or both, then it might be truly great. fredwreck would be dope too.

I'm sure this really is something that Snoop is doing on purpose, representing Rollin' 20 and 21st Street in some way. Actually, most of his albums contain either 20 or 21 tracks. This can't be a coincidence, at least that's how I always thought about it. But maybe he just likes using up all of the CD's capacity and he didn't even notice. :P

I'm quite looking forward to this, especially that Just Blaze joint. Snoop's sounding hungry on that one. If that's the overall tone, he surely will please some fans that didn't like Reincarnated or Bush.

Super Crip is the Just Blaze track we've been hearing.

Also, Vibe was reporting Dre and Quik are part of the album.  I'm sure Quik did that beat on the Suga Free track.  Don't know about Dre tho

I don't think Master P is to blame here. Just look at "Tha Doggfather", 21 tracks including intro and outro.

Is it just me who finds it a bit sad or at least disappointing that on an album with 20 tracks and that's supposed to be a return to his old style (for better or worse), Snoop did not bother to feature a single DPGC on here? I have mixed feelings about this. One, perhaps dragging along your nowhere-going buddies (if they still are that) for the ride is not the best policy. Certainly, rappers are more or less expected to bring their 'weed carriers' even though that often adds little to the proceedings. However, if Snoop claims to be 'King of the Westcoast' and the centre of DPG, certainly he should help and showcase his musical family as he has generally done in the past? That being said: say what you will about his integrity but Snoop has always been someone to move forward, change, adapt and take risks while his fellow DPGC are pretty muck stuck in the past in terms of musical direction, much like the westcoast in general. From that perspective, I could see why Snoop feels there is little to gain from continuing to push 'friends from music past' with no real clout in hiphop. He's certainly given them enough chances already and the nostalgia of his listeners should not factor in to his decisions. I certainly hope that Snoop's decision to at least expand musically and altogether put in more of an effort shows up here too. (An example of that effort would be his verse on Kokane's last album, which was nearly up there with 'One Shot, One Kill' in terms of energy and left me very impressed. If he's willing to show that much hunger on a Kokane album (face it, how many casual or even dedicated listeners to hiphop are going to hear that?), I'd say that bodes well for his edge on here. Let's hope so, anyway.

I get what your point is and it surely looks like he doesn't care about DPG looking at this track list. But to be honest, he is doing more music with the DPG camp lately than ever. Just look at all the "That's That Work" mixtapes and other projects, which feature his old camp as well as many young cats. His solo albums always are more experimental and I see why he's doing his own thing with it. Actually Daz and Kurupt left me underwhelmed with their features on "7 Day of Funk", I'd rather wanted Snoop to do their verses as they didn't get into the right vibe on their tracks.

I didn't hear that Kokane track yet, but will do after your comment. Snoop seems to be hungry right now, dropping all those fire and energetic verses lately. Seems like his mind set is back to showcase his rapping skill instead of having a good time while making music.

I don't know why everybody loves Super Crip so much
For me it's not bad, but that's all
The beat is dope but it sounds like a freestyle, there are no real verses on it
Snoop could have come a lot harder (like on "fallin asleep on Deathrow" for example) and use his normal voice, he sounds retarded with his fake Slick Rick flow.

Got to listen to "Legend" this morning.  I was looking forward to this track, and I think it will take a few spins to settle in.  The vocals are different on this track for Snoop.  The way they recorded his voice, is a different sound that I don't think Ive heard him like before.  The track has serious banger potential.

It's available on iTunes already if you have an account that you pay for monthly really strong album, havnt listened to it all yet, but the first half is real strong.  The track with $hort is dope as fuck, swizz is at the end of cool-aid and the next track after that is produced by swizz it has snoop flowing his ass of with a good delivery but the beat is not as dope but surprising for a swizz track.  For once so far snoops flow is actually a strong point to the tracks.

I have been able to stream the album on iTunes today apart from the last 2  tracks which won't play.

I have to say, this is a damn good effort from Snoop and I meant the 'effort' part.

My complaint about Snoop in recent years has been about  him not  being hungry, bothered or interested but he put in work on this project and I'm impressed.

it's 2016 and for Snoop to still sound so clean and fresh on the mic is impressive.

So far I'll give the album 7/10.

I will rate each track in my next comment.

Streamed it on iTunes and I agree with you.

Snoop delivered, a couple of filler tracks but overall a solid album

I'll rate each track out of 5 (my opinion and how I feel each track)

Legend  - 3.5 (sound way better than than the live version)

Ten Toes Down - 4 (Proper Westcoast banger! The beat got your head bobbing from the jump and Snoop deliver a lovely flow to it, one of my favourites)

Don't stop feat Too Short - 4 (If you've heard the snippet you know what to expect, one of the best  Short and Dogg collaboration)

Super Crip - 4.5 (A really good effort, it's a mix of different Snoop style and Just Blaze was on point with the beat )

Coolaid Man - 4.5 (This is my personal favourite, I just can't get enough of this track! The tittle track embodied what the Album tittle is about, Cool & Laid Back, The beat is so chilled and Snoop managed to ride it the same way while spitting about his style and how cool the dogg is)

See em up feat Swizz Beat - 3.5 (Beat is alright, Swizz managed to deliver a Westcoast sounding beat but nothing special, Snoop flow on point and made the song)

Point Seen Money Gone - 3.5 (Good track but not really my thing, kind of track that can do well on the radio, flow and chorus are decent but I can't stand the extra autotune at the end, unnecessary in my opinion)

Oh Na Na feat Wiz - 3 (Cool track with that old school vibe, nothing special, I'm not big on Snoop & Wiz collaboration)

My Carz - 2.5 /5 (Average track, too vain and basic, not for me)

Two or More - 3.5 (A typical Snoop ol school funk influenced track, produced by Snoop himself, good track to groove to)

Affiliated feat Trick Trick - 3.5 (decent track, I likee the  Juvenile style Snoop started with and Trick did his thing, alright track)

Feel About Snoop - 3 (Not for me but I suspect some people will like it , just not feeling it but well produced)

Light Up feat Swizz Beat - 2 (Have no idea why this track is on there, Snoop weakest flow of the album, Swizz part is decent but just doesn't fit the vibe of the album)

Side Piece - 3 (I kind of like this for what it is, laid back and Snoop flow nicely on this)

Kush Up feat Wiz - 3 (Beat and flow not bad, just not for me again, I don't think Wiz and Dogg have that natural chemistry, would've prefer this if it's a solo Snoop track or solo Wiz track)

Double Tap - 3 (Another radio friendly track, the content, beat and chorus scream out - please play me on the radio nonstop!)

Got Those - 3.5 (This is the kind of radio friendly attempt I like, Snoop flow is pretty good on this.
I guess I'm just a sucker for Snoop + Timbo collaboration)

Let the beat drop feat Swizz - 2.5 (Average! 2 out of the 3 Swizz Beat tracks are just average and not for Snoop)

What if feat Sugar Free - 3.5 (No need to say much on this, Snoop & Sugar Free did their thang as usual)

Revolution feat October King - 4 (Just Blaze did it again! Managed to bring out the best in Snoop.)

Just gave this album a first listen and I really enjoyed the beginning but then it decreased a bit at the end.
First, why people still fuckin with Swizz Beatz? I was a fan of his music when he was doing all this bangers for Ruff Ryders and DMX specially but damn... on this record his beats are fuckin trash and his voice all over is even trasher damn..
But well hopefully at the very end we got the amazing Suga Free assisted banger "WHAT IF" and the last song is also a good one but it sounded more like something made for The Game

So the overall score is 3,5 out of 5 for this album? Thats what the mathemathics say about your rates. I hear ya! But I would rather put it overall 4/5. Best since Last Meal!

That's right 3.5/5 but I won't disagree with your 4/5.

2 of Swizz Beats produced tracks did more harm than good for the album, take those 2 out and add Question #1 with Nipsey Hussle and Pain with Del La Soul  and I won't skip a track.

A pretty good come back to rapping for Snoop.

Legend - fuckin terrible!
Ten Toes Down - much better way to start the album, Snoop sounds comfortable here
Don't Know - pretty good, kinda expected more from Snoop & Short
Super Crip - banger. but sounds like Vato + Church to Da Palace. wtf Just, don't do Pharrell beats.

Album is very very dope for the most part, great old school west coast throwback sound on a lot of them tracks and snoop really hungry & flowin a1.
Only thing that drags it down is the 4,5 filler tracks he always has on his albums, mainly those 3 horrible swizz beatz songs (Let Me See Em Up is dope tho) and the unnecessary "Legend".

just gave this a spin, it's all over the place. some really good tracks and lot of middling material. the best tracks are brilliant and the combination of dark g-funk and 80s funk is the perfect direction for snoop. but the execution is lacking - swizz beatz tracks are terrible and some of the tracks are really average. example - just blaze tracks are great, first half of the album has some nice stuff but it totally falls apart in the back 10. snoop badly needed some higher quality production - where was quik, dre, fredwreck? snoop's rapping is solid too, it's just the production that lets it down. doggumentary was better, let alone BCT.

Snoop really needs a direction, I understand he wants 20/21 tracks in all his albums but some songs doesn't belong there. I don't think we will get another Blue Carpet Treatment album

Much better than expected. Legend is an absolute travesty but most of the other tracks are pretty decent and a few bangers as well.

Legend -> 0.05/5 (Horrid)
Ten Toes Down - 4/5
Don't Stop - 3.5/5
Super Crip - 4/5
Coolaid Man - 3.5/5
Let Me See Em Up - 3/5
Point Seen Money Gone - 2/5  (No offense to all of those with down syndrome on here but I can't take much of this Jeremih shit)
Oh Na Na - 3/5
My Carz - 2/5 - corny as fuck
Two or More - 2.5/5
Affiliated - 4/5
Feel About Snoop - 2/5 -> Beat is a mess
Light it Up - 2/5 zzzzzzzzzz
Side Piece - 3/5
Kush Ups - 4/5
Double Tap - 3.5/5
Got Those - 4/5
Let the Beat Drop - 3/5
What If - 4/5
Revolution - 2.5/5

I gave it two full listens and it's a cool album, I didn't find anything to be terrible but there were a few average tracks that could have been cut/replaced

I would say Doggumentary had more highlights but this album flows better as a whole

my favorites:

Ten Toes Down
Don't Stop
Super Crip
Coolaid Man
Let Me See Em Up
Oh Na Na
Two or More
Affiliated
Kush Ups
Got Those
What If
Revolution

Agreed. I think Doggumentary is more gangsta/hardcore and this is some chill music. I appreciate it for what it is.

First listen I'd give it 3/5. OK album nothing special but it's good to hear Snoop spitting again. I agree with people on here about the Swizz Beatz tracks & Just Blaze got the best 2 tracks on there for me.

That Daz beat on Oh Na Na was refreshing to hear.

Some tracks might grow with more plays but so far I'm satisfied with the album but nothing more.

I don't mind the Swizz Beats tracks.  Still, the album could be cut down to 13-15 tracks and get a much higher approval.

Snoop stepped up with the rapping on this album big time, sounds dope as fuck on most songs

04. - Super Crip - Snoop sneering over west-coast inspired heat from Blaze, the high-light track.

Quote
"And just coincidentally, some of the stuff that I’ve been working on lately just kind of felt like an updated version of that old Death Row sound, kind of an updated G-Funk. I just started working on these tracks and they had a lot of those similar elements, just felt like newer versions of that feeling.” - Just Blaze

I think Sccit or someone said it best, this is just like snoops last 3-4 albums...3 or 4 straight bangers mixed in with a bunch of washed up BS basically. Those bangers for me are revolution, 10 toes down, super crip, and coolaid man. maybe oh na na and kush ups. The rest they can keep. the swizz tracks are junk and timbo beat is ok but that chorus is god awful. Given the strength of about 3-4 near classic snoop tracks, this album can still score a 3/5  8)   EDIT: Even the suga free track is dripping in wackiness, that chorus..ahh

after listening to this some more I would say this album is like a mix of Doggumentary and Ego Trippin' which explains the mixed reviews from some heads on here, there honestly isn't one terrible song to me just a few average/boring joints that seem rushed and serve as filler that will definitely be forgotten about in years to come, but with that being said those mediocre songs are still better than most artists' best in 2016

but I've seen mostly positive reviews everywhere else so fuck it lol this forum is always ultra critical with west coast releases (kinda rightfully so), didn't see this in FYE yesterday but I'll cop it wherever I find it  8)

Givin a first listen to this album....

01. Legend ✓
02. Ten Toes Down ✓
03. Don't Know
04. Super Crip ✓
05. Coolaid Man ✓

Reaction #1 : Sincerly, not bad. Some interesting things. It seems that I never "enjoyed" Snoop since years.

06. Let Me See Em Up
07. Point Seen Money Gone (they really need to stop this type of ish)
08. Oh Na Na (same thang as above, "oh na na na na na", stop !)

Reaction #2 : please, stop this pop sound 2.0 whatever it's called. This the reason I don't listen rap music nowadays.

09. My Carz ✓
10. Two Or More ✓
11. Affiliated ✓

Reaction #3 : ok, everything is not bad.

12. Feel About Snoop (skip)
13. Light It Up (skip)
14. Side Piece
15. Kush Ups (skip)
16. Double Tap That
17. Got Those ✓
18. Let The Beat Drop
19. What If ✓
20. Revolution

Reaction #4 : End of the album ? Ok. It's like every album released by Snoop for ten years even if i gonna give more spins in order to listen tracks i enjoyed the first time. Remind me "Ego Trippin" (last Snoop album I bought). Nothing special. "Coolaid" > "Bush".

Banger : "Super Crip"  8)

Special Mention : "Affiliated" / "My Carz"  / "Two Or More" / "What If" :)

some Kendrick type influence.. as i'm not feeling that personally... it wont gel with me

edit: what if is nice..

"Ten toes down" and "What If" takes me back to the old eastsidaz, top dogg and last meal type days and vibe.  Snoop sounds so dope over these type tracks.  "Super Crip" is just insane to hear Snoop still be able to pull that off, vintage and classic SNoop lyrics and flow.  I like "Coolaid Man", "Two or more" and even "Fireworks/ Celebrate" has grown on me.

The rest of the album is just so so and won't really get much replay value from me.  Its kind of sad to hear an album like this where Snoop still sounds so dope on some tracks, but just cant keep the vibe consistent through out the whole thing.

His albums lately have no direction.  He tries to please everyone.  He makes a couple tracks that sound old school, a few that are pop, a few that are trap music, a few experimental, few club tracks, few south.  Before you know it, it's a whole album that nobody likes from start to finish.

Wish he'd pick a direction and stick to it, like this album is going to be all one genre, then his next album, pick another sound instead of trying to get them all on one album.

I like the classic snoop, so of course, I'm feeling Super Crip and What If.  Revolution is good too.  The rest is pretty much garbage in my eyes.  Others might like the more modern sounding songs on the album.  Can't please everyone, so please stop trying!

7 Days was a cool album but most definitely put together real quick and just thrown out there as an experiment, there's nothing extraordinary about it sonically... this album is a more focused effort despite it being a few tracks too long and even though it isn't Snoop's best it's far from his worst

great summertime music if you ask me  8)

better than anything on 7 days IMO

what are you waiting for anyway?  go listen to it LOL

7 Dayz wasn't sonically as impressive as let's say Bush .. But it still sounded like a far more organic album, and based on the reviews on Coolaid, I'm willing to bet it's overall a better album than this 1

the "sound" itself might appeal more but as a body of work it's not really comparable

look at the reviews of Compton though too lol

really been enjoying this but only bc of about 3 classic songs. 10 toes, super crip, and cool aid. whoever said snoop tries to appeal and please too many groups on his albums is spot on. If we took the consensus 4 best songs from his last 4 albums (not bush or 7 days, those are dope as hell but I look at them like side projects), it would be a classic album

His albums lately have no direction.  He tries to please everyone.  He makes a couple tracks that sound old school, a few that are pop, a few that are trap music, a few experimental, few club tracks, few south.  Before you know it, it's a whole album that nobody likes from start to finish.

That was the good thing about the Snoop Lion project

That's also why 7 Dayz of funk was his best project in a decade
The rapping wasnt as good on 7 days of funk.  His flow and lyrics are better on Coolaid IMO

Rapping was fine on 7 Dayz .. And more importantly, the album sounded like an album, not a compilation of random tracks .. Plus, the production was excellent. Haven't peeped Coolaid yet but I'm willing to bet off a hunch that it's not as good

Yea but knowing snoop, I have a good idea what this album is all about .. I've heard enough joints to see that he has no direction, where as people hated on Compton because it wasn't some 90s gangsta shit. Either way, I'm sure there are enough dope joints on this one to redeem the bad ones, but u know what I mean

Snoop Dogg's "Coolaid" To Sell Less Than 10k In Debut Week

Snoop Dogg has dominated the rap game for more than two decades. He has earned numerous platinum plaques for his albums and his debut LP, Doggystyle, is certified four times platinum with more than four million copies sold.

Well, it seems that fans were a little less than excited for his latest output, Coolaid. Hits Daily Double projects that the album will sell between seven and nine thousand units its first week. This is without including streams, which would raise the overall number of album equivalent units, but still a far cry from Snoop Dogg's prime. Last year's Bush debuted at #14 on Billboard's Top 200 albums chart with 27,000 copies sold.

Pretty sad when Snoop just dropped a new album and his highest charting song is #23 on the rap charts from iTunes.  Its a new era in hiphop and he need to focus on pleasing his real fan base instead of dropping singles like "Point Seen Money Gone"

Not surprised by the paltry album sales.  It's just not that good.  Bush was better than this, and had a much more cohesive sound.  Here, Snoop went bacc to making a hodgepodge album full of different stylez to satisfy fans who purchase individual songs they like on iTunes rather than the whole album.  To that end, just about every song has clear flaws.  For example, Ten Toes Down has the best beat for us Westcoast fans, but Snoop adopts Juvenile's "Ha" rhyme scheme so it sounds unoriginal, and the hook isn't that good (doesn't fit the bars).  Meanwhile, Too Short sounds extraneous on Don't Stop, and Trick Trick's inclusion on Affiliated almost ruins the song.

But perhaps those are subtle complaints.  Much more in your face flaws-wise is all the Swizz traccs, which are plain awful and should have never left the lab.  Drop them and replace them with Dre traccs, or even Pharrell.  Snoop always did this in the past -- I assume Snoop's budgets are just declining because there's a lot here that seems middle-grade musically.  In contrast, Snoop used to have albums that sounded hugely expensive (e.g. Blue Carpet).  It's sad, but Snoop is starting to sound truly irrelevant to the game now.  It took a LONG time, and he is a legend to have lasted as long as he did, but father time has finally caught up with him.  I agree with y'all that he needs to get bacc with his core bandmates and just make a whole album for his real long-time fans, but I'm sure he doesn't view himself as a washed up rapper who needs to resort to that approach, so until that happens, this is what we have to live with.

I will say, though, that I love My Carz -- really atmospheric beat with all those synths.  How is J Dilla still making beats when dude died 10 years ago?  Are rappers still hanging onto unused beats of his?  I guess so.

Here's what I would have made the tracc list.  It includes traccs I'm not in love with but could live with, and it's still long enough to constitute real full LP length:

1. "Legend"
2. "Ten Toes Down"
3. "Don't Stop" (featuring Too $hort)
4. "Super Crip"
5. "Coolaid Man"
6. "Oh Na Na" (featuring Wiz Khalifa)
7. "My Carz"
8. "Two or More"
9. "Affiliated" (featuring Trick Trick)
10. "Feel About Snoop"
11. "Double Tap" (featuring E-40 and Jazze Pha)
12. "Got Those"
13. "What If" (featuring Suga Free)
14. "Revolution" (featuring October London)

Only thing I truly agree with in terms of big flaws on the dope songs is the trick trick verse. It doesn't sound horribly bad but Snoop shouldve done another verse or let someone else like Kurupt or Daz spit another verse. Dont know whats wrong with Too Short on "Dont Stop" or the Snoop on "Ten Toes Down", didnt have a problem with the verses or the hook actually sounds dope.  8) Only thing I'd complain about is that some songs couldve used a third verse/longer parts like Supercrip, Coolaid Man, Feel About Snoop for example but the verses that are on it are dope so thats not a flaw that ruins the songs for me or anything
3 of the 4 swizz beatz songs are horrible though, youre right about that. "Let Me See Em Up" is cool tho.
If I had to make a compact tracklist out of this album It looked like this:

1.Ten Toes Down
2.Dont Stop
3.Supercrip
4.Coolaid Man
5.Let Me See Em Up
6.Oh Na Na
7.My Carz
8.Two Or More
9.Affiliated
10.Feel About Snoop
11.Double Tap
12.Got Those
13.What If
14.Revolution

would be the same length as your tracklist and you could bang this shit all the way thru.

XXL Review:

Quote
Any way you slice it, Snoop Dogg is one of hip-hop’s ultimate veterans. He is a true pioneer of contemporary rap music and has without a doubt birthed the style, flow and careers of countless MCs who have come after him. His legacy in the game can never be defamed but the second half of his career’s narrative is far from flawless. A couple flopped albums and two separate, unusual self-reinventions (Snoop Lion and Snoopzilla) have ultimately tainted his history of rap royalty. The Snoop that gave us timeless G-Funk put down the gin and juice and picked up a beanie, which was hardly well received. But now, after the reggae rebrand and the brief funk undertaking, the Doggfather is back with Coolaid, his most hip-hop album in years.
Based on the classic cartoon cover art alone, Snoop is bringing it back to the basics. The illustration, reminiscent of his 1993 debut LP cover for Doggystyle, features Snoop mixing up a concoction of equal parts “swag,” “lingo,” “hair,” “style” and, of course, “G.” Although Coolaid is Snoop’s 14th studio album, it truly feels and sounds like a follow up to 2004’s Rhythm & Gangsta: The Masterpiece.
Instead of bouncing all over the map with production that hits as often as it misses, Coolaid employs the kinetic genius of Swizz Beatz to handle a healthy chunk of production — just as R&G used The Neptunes’ innovative sonics to curate the album. High-profile producers like Just Blaze, Timbaland, J Dilla and Jazze Pha all lend beats to a couple cuts on the album but its Swizz’s sounds that stand out most.
“Let Me See Em Up” is perhaps the most raw, unfiltered track with lots of motivational ad-libs from Swizz and slick Snoop lines about “sittin’ on my throne” and “livin’ the boss life”; all of which makes for a very supercilious four minutes. He also declares his well-deserved OG status on the Cardo-produced “Affiliated,” stating that he “don’t hang in my hood but I bang in my hood, I’m affiliated.” It’s an honest line that’s refreshing to hear seeing as Snoop now spends most of his days coaching football in Beverly Hills instead of hanging in the hood.
What Snoop gets right on Coolaid is his ability to adapt to today’s modern sound without losing sight of his strengths. The Jeremih-assisted “Point Seen Money Gone” has all the makings of a modern day hit (a moody and melodic chorus, rolling trap drums, hoppy claps) but instead of copping out and hitting it with the laziest Auto-Tune-laced verses, Snoop keeps it incredibly real with his signature West Coast twang. Lines like “Mula, fetty, you not ready/I’mma get the cheese but the bread was spaghetti/Letti said he can play with them broads/Opportunistic I stay on them hoes” glide across Bongo’s lush beat just as slick as he did back in 1993.
“Feel About Snoop,” produced by Rockwilder, is the most creative and age appropriate track on the album. The track is a playful self-reflection on his career and the way people feel about him. Of course it’s cool to hear Snoop rap about smoking weed, pimping hoes and pouring up but we’ve all heard that a million times before. He has become such a G-Funk master that those gangster lyrics ooze out of him so naturally it must be hard to totally switch it up. But when he raps lines like “And there ain’t no doubt about it/Regarded as the freshest, by the way that I live/All the songs that I did, and givin’ back to the kids/ I mean I done been everywhere that you wanna go” it feels way more refined and timely.
Snoop is creeping up on 45 years old with a 23-year career under his belt and one hell of a story to tell. Coolaid would have gained top marks if he put some of the old school gangsta filler on ice and let us know what it’s like to be one of rap’s most accomplished veterans.
Given Snoop’s varied catalog, Coolaid actually stacks up fairly well against his 13 other releases. We get a strong dose of the old school Snoop we love and know while getting a little taste of the more distinguished Doggfather who we hope will eventually provide tracks filled with more wisdom and less weed. Don’t count on the latter though.

It's the age we live in, people around the world stream music now, legally and illegally.
I have the album saved on Spotify and also streamed it on Apple Music.

I hope artist are getting paid properly by these streaming mediums because that's where the action is now.

Most people just pay monthly subscription for these mediums and stream it whenever they want.

The usual flaw on many of snoop' s albums is that it's too long and lacks cohesiveness (trying cater for too many different fan bases).
Other than that I actually really enjoyed it. I was expecting trash for the Swizz produced tracks going by some of the comments, but was pleasantly surprised (maybe they were too long).
Delivery wise, Snoop did really well and liked his change up of vocal styles.

Really solid album, some tracks really needed to be shorter to create more impact/punch and.then move on to the next track, but currently they drag out too long. I would have made tracks like legend, let me see em up much shorter.

Probably the best project from Snoop since "Doggumentary" - some of the tracks are really dope, but he needs to stop putting out 20+ records on every CD and lower this to a 15 tracks next time...

I will say, though, that I love My Carz -- really atmospheric beat with all those synths.  How is J Dilla still making beats when dude died 10 years ago?  Are rappers still hanging onto unused beats of his?  I guess so.

Dilla fans been listening to that beat for 15 years

listen:

Cool, thanks, can you tell that I'm totally clueless sometimes?  haha  :snoopfacepalm:

I actually like Snoop's version better, though.

To respond to the other posts, I think the last new release physical CD I bought was Snoop's Ego Trippin.  I got burned on that one and vowed always to preview his albums before buying blind.  He hasn't put out an album since then that's inspired me to buy.  Actually, I like the Mac and Devin album and the 12 Days of Funk, but those were side projects.  His mainline projects have been pretty bad except for Bush, which was also like a side project because it wasn't rap.

And to the guy said Snoop needs to get bacc with the old crew of producers and guest artists, that will probably never happen.  That's like asking Madonna to get bacc with her producers from the 80s -- it's just not going to happen.  Sucks, but it's true imo.

I was just gonna come in and post that basically word for word, "Legend" isn't too bad for me now though I'll let that one rock sometimes and the Jeremih track can get some plays if a female is present  8)

bought my hard copy yesterday, sounds great in the whip when you just let it ride out

Finally copped now that the physical was released .. Solid album, not one of his bests, but not one of his worst neither... A few bangers, mostly solid joints, and then a couple filler as well. The joints where he took it back on um like super crip were clearly the best tracks .. If he can make a full album like that, it would be received much better .. At this juncture, he tryna please people who don't really fux wit his music by doin joints like lighters up and legends .. Redundant when he coulda did an album fulla joints like super crip n woulda got every1 talkin again.

I see where you're coming from, but if you had a whole album of super-crip type tracklist will be played out and boring.
You need a variation on an album that a mixture of hard and smooth, up-tempo & slower paced tracks (see Doggystyle), but the quality of the tracks has to be good and fit well with the overall vibe of the project..

Exactly, you got that perfect mixture on Doggystyle, there are smooth & laid back tracks like Aint No Fun, Doggy Dogg World, Gz Up Hoez Down, uptempo bangers like Who Am I and also eerie stuff like Murder Was The Case but the whole album just sounds like one great, cohesive piece of music. Thats why I always love albums with one producer, shit was the same with 7 Days Of Funk, the music Dre created just had that certain style & vibe which made the feeling so great.

Naah doggystyle had a cohesive and consistent sound .. This project does not whatsoever ...... Not sayin every track should be exactly like super crip lol, but it should be made wit a similar formula ala doggystyle

Not his best work, not his worst work. Sounds a bit generic, not a cohesive album, but much better than a few albums he has put out. I narrowed it down to about 10 tracks that I actually enjoy.

nobody but Snoop and Wiz, with Jhene Aiko and Casey Veggies as openers... Kevin Gates was on the bill but didn't show for whatever reason

tens of thousands of people present, it was kinda a madhouse out there and a bitch to navigate through the crowd but overall it was a great time, got so high I just hit the wall where I couldn't get any higher  8)

great mix of old Snoop classics mixed with the new, him and Wiz did all of their best collaborative joints together which was something I may never get to witness again live

Probably would never happened and even it did, Snoop is washed. He should empty the vault, we'd all prefer OG Snoop. Best we could hope for is him and Warren G 213 with Nate Dogg remaining verses.

I mean, on some joints, u can tell he still got it .. So I duno about "washed", I think it's more to do wit the production than anythin

Washed like Anthony said.
