There was something in the Afeni Shakur situation that warrants a closer look if anything. As grown adults (as most here will be) we all know or should know how the world works to some degree. Most of the senior black panthers either fled, were assassinated, framed or jailed. However Afeni, with no legal represention at all, walked free. It could be a fluke victory but normally she would have been sent to prison like Mutulu Shakur and others like Herman Bell who were convicted through coerced witness statements (allegedly). A LOT of the black panthers and revolutionary members were very well versed, articulate and knowledged in suppressive legislation and law, especially at a senior level. So how could Afeni walk free while others fall? It's always been a question of doubt, albeit not massively but enough to cause some minor concern or suspicions. It was and has been overlooked in the grander scheme of things

But make no mistake, the authorities were desperately seeking Assata, so it certainly isn't out the of the realms of possibility to think that a deal could have been struck. At that time the FBI were dedicated in shutting down any strong affiliations that could grow the Republic of New Afrikan movement and to capture most panther members
