i didnt know that warren-g leaded and guided his friends to make music and get rid of streets, gangs, jails and had been turned adrift after everybody survived to signed death row but him. damn it was a cool story how he stood on his feet alone and suceed. i also didnt know his role on making of the chronic.

begining of the documentary was also magical. it started with flash light from parliament and summer time in the lbc from dove shack with views from lbc. i was so impressed, with eyes and ears open wide.

the part nate was freestyling on regulaters beat when he heard it first time. what a talent. what a huge lost for music industry.

to listen the hisory from pioneers like ice-t, the d.o.c., warren and snoop... thats a must watch.

what ive found negative was they just mentioned above the law in just one sentence and didnt even mention dj quik's name. how could it be? its gfunk documentary and we are listening the same suge knight beef and stuff instead above the law and quik. however they could give more place to nate dogg in the story. because as d.o.c. said g-funk is three dudes. singer, rapper, producer. and we all know nobody does it better.

rip big nate dogg.

What did the documentary say about that? I haven't seen it yet myself. I know Warren came up with some skits and samples though.

That was a cool doc , some add-ons of what i already knew  but i'm always bothered with how little attention is given to above the law/ Big Hutch. 2Pac coined the term gfunk "officially" on record. The Black Mafia Lp came after the chronic for label/ business reasons (but was finished way before '92 according to Hutch).
I didn't know Dre at the time, i knew Snoop (heavy rotation on radio here in France i recall) and Warren G was everywhere. The first Lp i bought was regulate Gfunk era on cassette. My theory is Def Jam deal certainly helped to sell in europe (because of it's aura/past renown acts ) and then it took off.DJ's weren't reluctant to play the song, booking tours here & there. That's how you become a star i guess. And of course a well polished album.
Next thing you know everybody's doing gfunk even pop artists aha (u know funky type tracks minus the gangster tip)

Anyways, only old timers like me give a damn, this is crap oops trap music now

I thought the documentary was cool. Nothing we didn’t already know, but it does give a bit of insight as to why Warren didn’t sign with Death Row + his relationship with Suge.

Hopefully it's G-Funk.  For a guy who owes everything he has to G-Funk music, he sure tries to distance himself from it.  But then whenever he needs money, or to get back in the public eye, it's stuff like this G-Funk documentary that does it, not his new music trying to sound current and relevant.

I am a big fan of Warren, but I always hoped he'd make music in the vein of Foesum, Shade Sheist, etc, that embrace the G-Funk sound and make that sort of music and doesn't try to make 'current sounding' music.  With the success of the documentary, hopefully he goes back to that OG sound on this new track (and new album if that's in the works).

Warren was supposed to develop saviii3rd but dude just got snatched by Wack100 and Cash Money. You can see Warren and Big Fave throwing subliminals here and there on their social media accounts.

Speaking of Warren G's social network, there was a short clip on Instagram of Chuck Tayla aka Chuck Tayla the Great freestyling, it was super dope but it has been taken off, I cannot find it anywhere. Man I hope it will get released as a complete track because that instrumental was addictive.

I read in the comment section of one of Warren G’s posts that Chucc Tayla wasn’t down with G-Funk anymore. Dudes seem to be burning bridges with Warren.

Exactly. His song is extra dope but I do not see jim carrying more than an album by himself. Cash Money isn’t the best label to release albums too, esp nowadays

Hi, not this unfortunately.

It is a very recent freestyle, Saviii3rd sat next to him on that couch. Chuck was on fire and the beat super catchy. Hit potential, maybe that's why Warren G took it off. I hope he is making it a proper track. Chuuuch.

I finally saw the documentary. There was not a lot of information i didn't already know, but it was still a great documentary. Sometimes i feel kinda sorry for Warren for shit that happened to him, but he found success on his own and made A LOT of classic music. I'm happy that there's finally a documentary about him.

There could've been more about Nate Dogg though.

looks like jay_j was tryna keep it in the original thread, but in this instance deleting the video isn’t as productive as merging

Dude how old are you really? I'm tired of reading you keep crying under every thread. Search before you post something next time and dont put yourself into this position again. That was your fault not mine. There is a forum rules link somewhere which tells how to use it also. Go learn. We are not babysitting here.

damn can't wait to see this, didn't know about it (will watch this weekend)

...and what the hell is up with that DOC doc seems like it will never actually drop, just him doing a bunch of interviews talking about his time in Atlanta which was totally innocuous (and leaving out the period of time that he lived with Dre and made all his most legendary contributions to the game) and posing like some great humanitarian just cause he lost his voice

in the documentary, the scene i loved the most is Ice-T telling the difference between east coast and west coast. he tells very clear about how lifestyle of each coasts effected their music to be shaped. Ice-T is like a book when it comes to culture.

That's been said before and said better.  I'm trying to remember where exactly but someone said it more profoundly in a previous documentary about East Coast being the stinky subways and headphones and the West Coast being the palm trees, beaches and 6-4's in fact I remember where it was it was the editors note at the beginning of the Source mag with Dre leaving Death Row I think.  One of those from that summer of 96'.  I'm not saying Ice Tea copied it I'm just saying these guys was just saying a lot of shit already said, and said better before.

Documentary was pretty good but a lot of the stuff had already been said and done better before.  I'll give you an example they took a lot of clips and shit from Russel Simmons classic The Show documentary—and then Kurupt is trying to sound smart and even lifts a quote directly that Andre Harrel made in The Show documentary about Reaganomics.

...and then of course its Vibe Magazine and The Source fault that 2pac and Biggie died I'm so tired of that shit.  And they keep wanting to put it all on the Suge/Puffy beef or put it all on 2pac.. this is why I appreciate Reggie Wright because Reggie doesn't do revisionist history he tells it like it is at the time.  He says, "Go watch House of Blues show if you don't believe me" and he's right.  Even more; go listen to NY 87' Kurupt and Daz goin at the East Coast.

These guys all want to have it both ways.  They wanna be the biggest gangstaz in the world when it fits the image and they want to act like the greatest humanitarians in the world and divert any criticism to Government, Cops, 2pac, Suge.
