The only albums I can think of that I'll definitely be getting this year are:

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib - Bandana
The Game's new one
Kanye West - Yandhi
Anderson .Paak - Ventura
Most likely the new Snoop Dogg album
If DJ Quik releases a new album of course I'll grab it

What other notable, anticipated albums are due to be released this year?

There's just too many dope artists out there, I've ended up amassing a collection that I can't possibly even sit down and listen through in my whole lifetime, let alone enjoy it on the regular. Probably sitting on about 1500-2000 tapes or so and rising steadily.... ???

yeah dude I have no idea what happened lol the iTunes version I downloaded has the vocals on it but not on the CD, plus "Free Yatta 2" and the first joint's volumes seem to be lower than the rest of the songs... I wonder if pushing the album forward fucked something up and they didn't turn in the fully mastered version for CD press lol

You must of either been rich or had too much damn time on your hands if you were able to listen to any and every album that ever dropped in 96’.  Obviously I had heard of Boot Camp—but I had not had the opportunity to give their albums from that era a serious listen until I got an IPhone and ITunes ya dig

I was also only 14 in 96’ by the way

I was born in '92, age is hardly a factor. Not rich either, but nowadays there's only a handful of albums you cannot listen to without paying for them, so that really helps getting your hands on any and everything that dropped in the last decades

Really no vocals for Shinin 4 diamond? That's stupid. Also free yatta 2 also had low volume on the iTunes version for months and they didn't fix it. But the MP3 version of free yatta 2 and the video has perfect volume  ::)

Right it’s really a golden opportunity, we’ve had the vaults opened on nearly all the classics in a way that’s never happened before.  It’s a sort of listeners renaissance—though you wouldn’t know it if you were wasting time trying to stay hip to the new

I was also only 14 in 96’ by the way

I was born in '92, age is hardly a factor. Not rich either, but nowadays there's only a handful of albums you cannot listen to without paying for them, so that really helps getting your hands on any and everything that dropped in the last decades

Right it’s really a golden opportunity, we’ve had the vaults opened on nearly all the classics in a way that’s never happened before.  It’s a sort of listeners renaissance—though you wouldn’t know it if you were wasting time trying to stay hip to the new

why can’t u do both?

did u stop watching basketball because 80s was the GOAT era?

cmon now

none.  Cause Infinite stays trapped in 96'

..I did dig up a lot of old classic golden age hip-hop this year though... and that is 100X more worthwhile than ya'll suckaz listening to that trash that came out this year

lmao, weren't you the guy that only just found out about Boot Camp Click this year? You are out of place claiming expertise in any hip-hop era

You must of either been rich or had too much damn time on your hands if you were able to listen to any and every album that ever dropped in 96’.  Obviously I had heard of Boot Camp—but I had not had the opportunity to give their albums from that era a serious listen until I got an IPhone and ITunes ya dig

That’s just what you enjoy doing fine but it is possible to do both. I spend most of my time listening to classics as well that range from Jazz in the 40s to Reggae in the 70s hip hop in the 80s and 90s and I also check out new shit as well. I’ll be honest I probably spend less than 20 percent of my time bothering with new rappers but there’s still quality there. Mozzy, Kendrick, Big Kritt. These are all artists everyone should be checking. Yet I don’t think time is even an issue. There are classics from the 90s that you won’t even consider like Bay Area and Sacramento rap from the 90s

crazy mozzy has an album out and there’s nothing about it even online

dude is way too talented to be oversaturating himself on that level

if he concentrates all his efforts into droppin one focused album every year or 2, he’d be the kendrick of norcal

Definitely. I've got the feeling he's doing something similar to what Apathy & Celph Titled have been doing for years, where each year they drop a (different) very limited edition 10-track CD which one can only purchase at their concerts, never to be sold or seen again. Only difference of course is that in their case you get the CD when you pay for the VIP meet and greet whereas it seems Mozzy's was completely free.

stuff like this is why I NEVER got down with Kickstarter, although I do appreciate and respect the concept of it and I do understand other artists ran their campaign the right way by keeping their word and delivering a quality product

I have been spendin' so much money on old classics this year that I haven't been able to buy almost any new albums. I gotta get that new Snoop, the new Gang Starr and "The Lost Tapes 2" from Nas soon though. Is there gonna be hard copies of "Born 2 Rap"?

I hope that isn't the case, I think he eventually will maybe in a few weeks/months... he's an artist that has lots of fans who prefer hard copy and even Lil Wayne took like 2 months to drop Carter V on physical which was also 2 disc

U sure its official?

the ebay seller claims its an official promo...i messaged him and asked me to make copies of other albums that werent released on cd and he said he only sells official promos straight from the label.

description says official promo as well....so i believe ebay woulda taken it down by now if it was a bootleg, although i'm not 100%.

it does look like a legit copy tho. same as the suga free resurrection cd i bought.

I didn’t support anything. Nothing I could see was worth my money. A large part of that is due to time to explore what’s now out there, but with the dilution now from the non-mainstream (trying to appeal to that mainstream audience) makes it difficult to source great music. May be high standards but I expect an 80% strong replay rate before I purchase, which is a rarity in 2019 / 2020
