Happy Birthday to Tha Eastsidaz' first album. This classic came out 20 years ago. Crazy how time flies. Still one of my favorite albums of all time.

Same here. I remember buying this at the record store and staying on South 8th Street in Monroe, Louisiana a looong time ago jamming this album. Real Life.

I remember buying this CD like it was yesterday. Its official we’re all old as fuck. Definitely a classic

West Resurgence Era... gas was dollar a gallon I was still a teenager, Polk speakers front and back, Serwan Vega amp (“you could feel the animosity thru the Serwan Vega” (Xzibit)) they was hearing me for blocks in those days.. always took the long way home!! Last dayz before music became free so I bumped the hell out of that album wore that muthafucka out!!

I remember dubbing G’d up and Got Beef when 106 KMEL was playing this shit, late 1999 early 2000

When I first saw/saw this on TV the first time Oh Laws:

is there left overs for this classic lp ?
-
Biggest Bangers in order:
1. "Now We Lay Um Down" - this joint had everything, was that Kokane doing his thing at the end, that's one of the best Outros of all time in hip-hop...the beat bangs in the ride, next level G shit
2. "Balls of Steel" - This track was my favorite initially when I got this album but it kind of faded after that. I didn't know it at the time cause I wasn't up on 80's hip-hop but this is like a cover or remake of which classic ol school joint??
3. "G'd Up" - perfect lead single, Butch really shines on the hook, that was the beauty of the album Snoop compiled so much West Coast talent it was like Snoop's Chronic
Honorable Mention:
Every track really.. you can play the whole album without skipping but..
4. "Life Goes On" always felt this was a moving track... Like Snoop's own sort of "Dear Mama" track, he had another good one like it on his Top Dogg solo
5. "G in Dee" - Tray Dee goes hard on this one and makes you wish he had done a major label solo album
6. Ghetto
7. Big Bang Theory
8. Be Thankful
9. "Got Beef" good song, but I didn't really see it as worthy of a single, but the track got some airplay
every song.. no skipping tracks

amazing period ended up with his best album ever after doggystyle. it was amazing to witness it those years as a west coast hip-hop fan. all we had to do was just wait bombs to drop those days. today im diggin hard to find smth worth to listen and i barely find.

No limit top dogg is a classic too also.
that three following albums (no limit top dogg, the last meal, paid da cost to be da boss) were classics to me. snoop was in his prime again.

Did their new song ever get released?

he’s surprised that you’re including it as a classic because it wasn’t lol

This and doggys angels Pleezbalevit were in constant rotation. Those were the days
Although Last meal was a decent album, I personally didnt feel it flowed very well with the timbaland tracks sounding out of place. Also to me the I Can't Swim song gets annoying. I remember thinking wtf the first time I heard snoop singing and ruining a great Battlecat beat on Leave me alone.
My personal preference of snoop dogg albums is as follows:
1. Doggfather - (heard this before doggystyle and what got me into Snoop in the first place, I use to have it had it on cassette).
2. Doggystyle
3. Blue Carpet Treatment
4. No Limit Top Dogg
5. Last Meal
6. I Wanna Thank Me
7. Cool Aid
8. Doggumentary
9. Paid the Cost to be the Boss
10. From Tha Streets to the Suites
11. Ego Trippin'
12. Malice n Wonderland
13. Neva Left
14. Bush
15. Da Game Is to be Sold, Not Told
16. R&G
17. Reincarnated
-
"I Can't Swim" could be Snoops worst song ever
I also don't know why he spit the same verse twice on "Go Away"
doesn't take away the fact that Last Meal is a great album though

good point, i'd put that just below doggumentary, was also thinking if i should put Dead Man Walking in the list and the Lost Sessions

That "Big Bang Theory" joint is my favorite. Kurupt went off on that joint.
-
