Because otherwise it would have been full of 2 minute tracks by the looks of it.

Maybe, but it is not a good look for an artist to drop a 10 x 2 minute track album after delaying it for about 11 years. I assume he had to kind of save face in some way, so putting Jay-Z on it was a suitable approach.

Jay-Z outdid Elec by far on this album anyway, so it's a flop for me either way.

After a quick skim through, the lack of drums ruins it.

A little bit underwhelming after waiting so long but Jigga made it worthwhile. It's just a shame to get out shined on your own project.

Agreed. I wasn't really caught in all the hype around Jay Electronica so I didn't have any inflated expectations. I've definitely found myself replaying this album more than most recent rap releases. Flux Capacitor is my ish.

Hey Dubcc!  Been a minute...

A few thoughts:

The album certainly isn't the classis JE is capable of, buts its a good album nonetheless.   I could handle some more drums, and a few tracks with similar vibes to Exhibit A and C...in fact, the album is really missing the Just Blaze production.

Jay's unreleased stuff is definitely better than this album, but I'm not gonna front- I've been spinning this lots.  Jigga showed out on the album too; somehow, they have good chemistry (this was established many years ago but it continues to work).

I love Jigga on Flux Capacitor; my favourite overall song is definitely UNIVERSAL SOLDIER.  That shit gets me hype.

I'm getting more and more out of the album the more I spin it...

Lastly, I hope Jay drops the album he originally planned, even if much of it leaked...it would've been a certifiable hip hop classic.
