Title: Budda' said that Dre wanted to buy "Bow Down" beat from before Cube recorded....

Was reading that dubcnn Budda' interview so this is probably old news to everyone.  But "Bow Down" was almost a Dre beat.  Would be interesting what Dre would've done with it and how it might have changed hip-hop history if Dre in his peacemaker phase had made it a hit on Aftermath Presents instead of Cube using it to declare war on the East

Basically Cube and Westside Connection had not even recorded over it yet, it was just in a batch he'd sent Cube.  Dre asked for it, but he hadn't heard back from Cube yet so he damn near gave it to Dre.  So Dre barely missed getting the beat.

yeah, hard to argue with a classic.  I mean... I really can't hear anyone over that record than Cube.  It really was a perfect record in every way, perfect timing, sound, rhymes--it was destiny that that track came out and set fire to the East/West War.

But could Dre take something already flawless and make it even better?   It's an interesting alternate hip-hop history to go into... like what if Suge didn't get locked up in 96'... what if Pac survived the shooting... what if Dre stayed on Death Row... what if Royce manager hadn't burned his relationship with Dre... lot of hip-hop what ifs..
