saw this movie month or two ago, highly recommended, its all subtitled, about a place in rio de janiero, called city of god, like super crime capital , like kids arent supposed to live past the age of 15, the movie got insane good reviews, like big ups from everyone and got into a few festivals, almost every newspaper/magazine gave the movie an A score, with only two giving it a B score, and nothing less. the filming style is crazy, and just the story is icrazy too. its all about kids trying to get power and the things that they do, and about a photographer kid that grows up watching these daily crimes and chronicles them in the newspaper.

Set on the mean streets of a Rio de Janeiro slum (in the "Cidade de Deus" housing project), this film follows two boys who grow up down differing paths (stretched across over 15 years, from the late 1960s to the early 1980s). One, Buscape (Rodrigues), becomes a photographer, the other becomes a drug dealer. The film follows their paths through a series of short stories, as we learn about the violent, often short lives of those wrapped up in the dangerous world of drugs and crime on Brazil's cruelest area.
MPAA Rating: R for strong brutal violence, sexuality, drug content and language.
