Drama? Well, the Tempest is a comedy drama, so okey.

My faves are Richard II (I wasted time, and now time doth waste me) and Othello.

shakespeare's dramas = tragedies (King Lear, Macbeth, Othello...), comedies (As You Like It, The Merchant of Venice...) & history plays (Richard II & III...)

As for The Tempest, it's not a comedy but a romance.

I'm going by the Oxford method. Admittedly, Oxford finds Cymbeline and Troilus&Cressida difficult to class.

fave comedy=tempest/midsummer's night's dream
fave tragedy=julius caesar
fave history=Richard II

it's hard to give him THAT much credit when every thing is just carbon copies from greek myths with a european modification, kinda like the most recent romeo and juliet movie with leonardo decaprio

Did I ever say he was the greatest plotter ever? I love his language. And anyway, the vast majority of famous writers steal their ideas.

For God's sake everyone is influenced by their peers - I wouldn't call it 'ripped off'.

Othello is my favourite - I went to see that a while back - really good play.

The Tempest, not a big Shakespeare fan but i think The Tempest is a great play and a very good farewell piece to the Theatre by Shakespeare.
