For those of you who like baseball. This injury is big
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks may have lost a lot more than a chance to clinch a playoff berth.
Luis Gonzalez, who leads the team in home runs and RBIs, separated his left shoulder in an outfield collision as the Diamondbacks lost 13-1 to the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night.
The star left fielder was going back to Phoenix on Tuesday to meet with team physician Dr. Michael Lee.
"Best case scenario, it'll be a first-degree separation and it'll be maybe a week," Diamondbacks trainer Paul Lessard said. "Worst case scenario would be the season."
Gonzalez is batting .288 with 28 home runs and 103 RBIs. He got the hit that won last year's World Series for the Diamondbacks.
Gonzalez was hurt when he tried to make a diving catch on Tino Martinez's bloop double in the fourth inning. Shortstop Tony Womack's knee hit Gonzalez's shoulder, and Womack cartwheeled over his teammate.
"It doesn't look good right now for him being a part of our postseason plans," pitcher Rick Helling said. "Hopefully it's not as bad as they think it is."
The Cardinals broke open the game by scoring 10 runs in the seventh inning, and sent Arizona to its fourth straight loss. The NL West leaders have a magic number of one for wrapping up a playoff berth, with six games to go.
"Obviously, it's a lot more than just a loss in the standings," manager Bob Brenly said.

Damn that sucks for the diamondbacks... that's gonna seriously hurt there World Series chances!...
-
word, they wont make it back to tha series this year unless gonzalez knows some secret method of medicine. Plus randy an curt r goin have tha carry tha rotation like they did in last years world series. but now that i think about, even wit gonzalez injured there is no clear cut winner in tha national league any team can take it
-
that sux , but they can still make it to the NLCS

i hate the Dbacks, i am sorry that type of blow has to happen to any team....but being a dodger fan on the side, i am happy to see that the Dbacks wont win shit this year, and if my angels play in the WS that will improve our chances.

Yeah, the d'backs are my second favorite team behind Cardinals. I think the d'backs are going to lose to the cardinals in 5 games

I dont think the Cards can beat Schilling. Especially in a game 5.

Really? If i remember correctly, the Cardinals beat Schilling in April and today they won 6-1. I doubt Schilling can put on a show like he did last year in the playoffs. Johnson will be able to come close to what he did last year because he has been more consistent these past couple of weeks. i expect the games in the playoffs to be won by one run just like last year. It will be a good series
