"I'll make Posh a female Eminem"
THE producer of VICTORIA BECKHAM’s hip-hop album has vowed to make her a global rap star.
Speaking for the first time about the project, DAMON DASH says Posh is as good as EMINEM or any of the big name rappers on the scene.
He said: “Victoria is going to be a huge star around the world.
“She’s a good person. She really wants to win and works really hard. She deserves to be given a chance.”
New Yorker Damon denied he only decided to work with Posh because of her superstar status in the UK, revealing he had never heard of her before they met.
He admitted: “I didn’t know who she was. NAOMI CAMPBELL said I should meet her. She explained who she was.”
Victoria has been in the States this summer recording a string of tracks. Damon was impressed by her down-to-earth, hard-working approach.
He said: “She came to America and we recorded seven songs.
“That’s amazing. I was expecting one or two. It’s all accessible stuff. It’s going to bring hip-hop to the forefront and pop to the rap culture.
“I have always been affiliated with quality and I have never done anything corny. I would never do anything to sell out.
“We’re trying to make a pop star into a rap star. She’s grown out of the pop thing.
She’s definitely more of a rock star nowadays.”
Her single It’s Dat Simple got its first airplay on TIM WESTWOOD’s Radio 1 show on Saturday night.
Using a BOB MARLEY sample it is a collaboration with hardcore rappers M.O.P — the Mash Out Posse — and will be out later this year.
The as-yet untitled album will follow.
The producer has revealed how the single was recorded in a grubby studio in New York’s notorious Harlem district.
Damon — who has also signed Victoria as the £1million face of the Rocawear clothing line he shares with rapper JAY-Z — said he wanted to test her commitment to becoming a hip-hop artist.
He said: “I thought I would put her through it. I took her to the grimiest studio I knew in Harlem but she wasn’t scared.
“I left her there with M.O.P. and when I got back they were all drinking Cristal champagne.
“I like her attitude. She says her record company wanted her to do more dance music but she wasn’t feeling that.
“She said she wanted to do hip-hop and didn’t care what anybody said.”

Damn, that whole article is a complete joke. I wish i'd listened to Westwood on saturday now, cause I really wanna see how wack her rapping is. Especially alongside MOP, they must have had to turn her vocals up well high to get them at the same volume as those two.
