the people who are making the board are not making a new version.

they've rewritten the whole thing (renamed the next 'new version' which was going to be a major change) and its still free + will be an upgraded.. but i suspect we will be one of their new 'charter members'.. just so i can get the beta early and work on the new template.

from your point of view the new board has the following features over this one.

1) unlimited smileys..  :o
2) its fast as hell
3) sub-boards (an example.. for one there will be a 'key style' section to put all key-style activities under)

lots more very cool things... its a good month or three off being released properly. i'll try and get a beta before so I can work on and then be ready to open new wcc around the time they release it properly

Ok... currently WCC uses 'YaBB SE' forum, but thats now been discontinued, and the project has moved and will be renamed to "Simple Machines Forum" or SMF. Since i've been down with YaBB (remember we used to use perl/cgi version before we switched to php/mysql last year) for a long ass time I was lucky enough to be the only non-team member for the project to help them test their new forum out... they're still making it (it may look similar, but they rewriting it totally.. ) its still a way off, but today they've announced the new name and opened their official site.

Yes. I consider WCC history/old posts essential.

We've upgraded around 6/8 times and moved a total of 3 times.

We've only lost posts data twice, and that was within our first few months due to our shaky first host, and never due to those actions.



edit: Oh and all user accounts etc will also be transferred over.

however. you will have to log in at the new location once the move is complete.

I will be putting up a page with detailed instructions on getting a new password or what information I need from you to be able to complete that process if there are problems.

yes thats being handled.


1) i will be running a query over the database to update all posts with the old www.igangsta.com/index.php in. so old posts will be magically fixed.

2) there will be a script in place on igangsta.com that will bounce to the new url with the right parameters

ok... Just got the first indication of when i'm getting a special early version to play with... which they hope will be late sept.. so i'm guessing i cant aim for halloween.. maybe xmas...

i can still do a lot of the behind the scenes stuff tho.. so its not like i cant do shit till then  :)

its not using java or anything... notice the banners swap places randomly
btw. not using the same technique as the trick in my sig .

as you can guess, i've been doing a lot of dynamic content type stuff ;)

expecting the first 'private'  beta of the new forum software tomorrow

if all goes well process should be...

- i get private beta from them
- i can learn how to do what i want / make new templates etc
- they issue another private beta with fixes found during the initial private test + some new features they left out in first beta
- i learn the new feats + sort stuff for them (know theres at least one thing)
- they go to public beta (i'll still be working on stuff or be ready ish)
- i'll do a 'test convert' at some point, wont affect wcc tho
- they go to another public beta
- they go to release - we upgrade wcc shortly after

Dunno quite yet, I kinda fell outta keeping up with their progress.. actually came in here to say that 3 things are happening right now

1.. Behind the scenes we put up the first test version of the new dubcnn news system last night.. we're working on ironing out the creases in that

2.. I have to upgrade WCC with a newer version of this forum, which I hope to do tonight

3.. I'm adding something else to WCC at the same time.
