Title: Most you ever paid for a CD
Post by: _That_Cracka_J on August 14, 2003, 08:56:18 AM
For me, it was Ras Kass - Soul on Ice for about $45.

D.O.C. - Deuce
WC & The Maad Cricle - Curb Servin'

27€ ($) each. Had to import them.  I've imported a bunch of albums before, but these two have been the most expensive. The difference has only been a few euros though...

Ummm... think $25 for Nate's double album when I was on me hols in the US.

Cheapest? JT tha Bigga Figga's Playaz N Tha Game for 25 cents in Tower Records in New York  :D

Oh yeah, and £25 for Rhythm-al-ism is still well worth it. Shit, if I lost my copy I'd pay whatever I had to to replace it.

 :o :o :o

I hope you gave 'im what for, girl! Hee hee - I keep having to have a go at my missus for taking my CDs out of the hi-fi to play Danni Minogue or whatever, and then leaving them lying around out of their cases, down the side of the sofa, in the fish bowl etc etc...

Oh, but back to topic, I saw that HMV here sell the Yukmouth and Tha Gamblaz album for £27.99 ... that's an expensive disc. No idea if it's worth it, but my pay packet won't see me finding out anytime soon!

Can't remember, what the most expensive disc was for me. Think it was like 20€. I would NEVER buy a cd for about 50€/$ or something like that. The cheapest buy was "Bacdafucup" for 3DM back in the days (is about 1,50€).

i usually get most of my CD's cheap cuz i'm always out diggin around, but there are a handful of hard to find CD's that i've paid out the ass for and it left me without gas, food, or herb for a while.  oh yeah TheOnlyOne I just got Guerrilla Funk, thanks again for trying to help me out with that.

they are...
$60-Low Profile: We're In This Thing Together
$50-King Tee: Act A Fool
$40-Penthouse Players Clique: Paid the Cost
$35-WC & The Maad Circle: Ain't A Damn Thang Changed
$35-K-Dee: Ass, Gas or Cash
$30-Above The Law: Uncle Sam's Curse
$20-O.C.: Word...Life (sealed)
$20-Kokane: Funk Upon A Rhyme

these were all bought within the last 3 years,
then there are these ones i got dirt cheap...

$13-Ras Kass: Soul On Ice (when it was out)
$8-Gonzoe: If I Live & Nothing Happens
$8-Twinz: Conversation
$6-Kausion: South Central Los Skanless
$4-Paris: Guerrilla Funk
$3-7A3: Coolin' In Cali
$2-Spice 1: 187 He Wrote
$2-Above The Law: Forever Rich Thug$
$1-Group Therapy: Tear for the Ghetto
$1-AMG: Ballin' Outta Control
$1-Big Hutch: Executive Decisions
$0-Brotha Lynch Hung: Loaded (chick at Amoeba rung it up as $0.00 on my receipt)

I won't pay more for a CD than when it originally came out. And luckily I've gotten CDs when they came out (and also live in a city with a lot of West Coast CDs that people apparently want to get rid of).

Most:
Brotha Lynch & Sicx - Nigga Deep (found it in Juneau, Alaska this past week) $17 (regular retail price)

Cheapest:
MC Ren - Kizz My Black Azz (20 cents)

Vinyl:
WSCG promo with 22 minute interview w/Ice Cube, Mack 10 and Ant Banks remix of Gangsta's Make the World Go Round $19

Title: Re:Most you ever paid for a CD
Post by: madkilla on August 14, 2003, 11:17:00 PM
yeah i guess it's all about being at the right place at the right time.  over by me A LOT of the Wherehouses closed down and the ones that are still open mix the used with the new and it doesn't seem to be as plentiful like back in the day when used and new was separate and you could find almost any old school cd you were looking for, for cheap.  I guess it makes sense since when music is new theres more copies in circulation to be sold back.

i don't know if any of you listen to Sublime, but i've found there 1st original pressed CD twice for dirt cheap and they 've gone for over $100 on ebay and there's only a few thousand around.  i've been shopping in music stores for over a decade now and for a lot of the really hard 2 find stuff i finally had to break down and shell out the dough.  sometimes i'll buy the vinyl or cassette and that holds me until i can afford the CD.  i hate when you see something and you pass it up and when you go back it's gone.

oh yeah TheOnlyOne I found "Guerrilla Funk" on the Amazon.com zShops at one of the cddvdgametrader sellers for $3.99.  I ordered a second copy from them for $1.99 just to be safe and they were way cheap.
Crazy that fools are paying a lot ($60) for Pomona Pimpin' when Amoebas got a shitload of copies for $14 each.
some of the stores i shop at are...Amoeba, Aron's, Pennylane, and Wherehouse.  peace!!

Title: Re:Most you ever paid for a CD
Post by: madkilla on August 15, 2003, 04:03:07 AM
damn TheOnlyOne i just realized you had both of Hi-C's Cd's.  i swear i have never seen either of those and if i did it was a long time ago before i knew they were hard 2 find.  did u end up selling the extra copies of each?  i'd even be interested if u could hook up CD-R copies, maybe a trade.  also did dj quik produce most or all of Hi-C's 2 cd's?  what pisses me off is that those were both supposed to be reissued, in one of DJ Quiks last CD's there was an adverstisement for them, wonder if he'll reissue them now that he's got a new album coming soon.  yeah Kam's Made in America is out of print in the U.S., but at least when i bought it, it didn't seem to hard to find and was pretty cheap.  peace!

the peeps that have paid big $$$ for cd's that are not OOP are the overseas peeps cause they had to import their cd's

madkilla, unfortunately i have sold my extra copies of the HI C cd's, DJ Quik only produces like 2 songs on "Skanless" and he doesnt even produce on "Swing'n" BUT dont let that fool you cause these cd's are so dope, Tony A does an awesome job on both cd's, his production sounds like Quik, we can trade cd-r's or something

the wherehouse i go to has like a shitload of used cd's, i mean alot, so their regular new sections arent big enough for all the cd's so they seperate the used cd's
this past week ive seen these cd's for 50 CENTS :o

Radio - Recognize Da Real
True Blue II - Sky 2 Da C
Mel low - its a BG Thang (SCC related)
Domino - Dominology

damn u paid that much for Mak and Dillinger damn, Daz jacked alot of people, BTW were u the one that i helped try to get a copy of Makaveli and Dillinger?

yeah someone a while back told me to hit up a little mom n pop shop, think it was called, lavells??  i went there for the makaveli dillinger ep and they had sold out, but what pissed me off was i called them that same day before i got off work and they said they didn't have to hold it cuz they had plenty, but when i got there not one could be found.  i ended up ordering it from cduniverse.com and it was all good, got that shit for $11.  i had the original one where the tracks were mixed, so damn daz milked my dumb ass for $20 more.  i ended up going from no copies of guerrilla funk, to now having 2, i'll probably sell one.  got both for $10.  yeah pm me with a list of what you got, i'd love to hook up on those hi-c's, i'll try and  get a list together of what i got, or let me know if theres anything u been searching for.  do you know if mellow man ace's 1st cd is rare??  got that shit back i the day for $3.   peace!!
