Title: Deathrows Inside Out compilation EXISTS! Someones got it
Post by: JG on August 15, 2003, 12:46:57 PM
Remember when Deathrow were releasing Inside Out? but it never got released in 1999? Well after years of me thinking the tracklist was false and some of those tracks didnt exist. I maybe wrong.

Someone posted the following at Tha row's site. He does some kind of work for Danny Boy and must have the album. 'Against All Odds' was on disc 2 of Inside Out, it's one of the songs that never leaked. I really want 'Bitch Dogg' by Swoop G and C Style... anyway... here's the dealio...

Just because Danny Boy's webmaster has heard part of a danny boy track doesn't mean he's heard/got that compilation ;)

Yeah, I remember that the Inside Out Compulation became Chronic 2000, and it was suppose to feature Dr. Dre. BUT!!! Dre signed a contract with Death row when he left, saying that they cannot release his music, unless it's in the original form, and that's only after getting his permission. So basically, the songs featuring Top Dogg and Doobie couldn't be released. Oh well  ::) lol. Suge should release all old Dre, like an album of Dre's Greatest Death Row Hits, with a bunch of unreleased tracks that he either rapped or produced. But of course it would make sense, and making sense is not in Suge's head, or else he would start promoting Crooked I for his big release. It's 2003, and heads have been waiting for this release at least since 2001 when Suge got out.

From what I heard in the snippets: Death Row intro, Late Night, What's the Deal, an alternate version of Because of you Girl, Fifty Sac, Just Touch Me, Han Cuff Ya Hoes, Fiend To A Pipe, What's The Deal, and some R&B song which I'm guessing is July Halloween by 6 feet deep, there's some song with Michele on it and I "think" VK, which isn't on this tracklist, so I'm not sure what song that is.

There are only a few songs on the tracklist that haven't been leaked/released on some project.  I have 90% of the songs on here already....unfortunately 50 Sac is one of them that has never leaked.

What was the final tracklist for the project? There were couple ones floating around - someone can name all the tracks playing in these snippets from bomb1st?

Track No. Track/Artist
1 Death Row Intro Tha Realest - Unleaked
2 Late Night 2Pac w/ DJ Quik - Leaked
3 Whats The Deal Chocolate Bandit - ON Gang Related Sdtk, remixed on CB's album
4 Only Because Of U Daz Dillinger w/ Outlawz & Tha Realest - on C2K, original with EDI leaked
5 Going Back ToCali Top Dogg - On Gang Related Sdtk
6 Easy To Be A Soldier When There Tha Realest - On C2K
7 With Me Tonight Jewell - leaked
8 Fifty Sac Soopafly - unleaked
9 We Dont Love Em Top Dogg - On C2K
10 They Wanna Be Like Us Tha Realest w/ Top Dogg  - On C2K
11 Unconditional Love 2Pac - 2Pac's Greatest hits
12 Memory Lane Jewell - unleaked

DISC 2

Track No. Track/Artist
1 Your Fucked - Intro Jewell/Tha Realest - Unleaked
2 Snoop Dogg/Bitch Dogg Swoop w/ Lil' C-style  - unleaked
3 Just Touch Me Chocolate Bandit - On CB's album
4 July Halloween 6 feet  - unleaked
5 Who Do U Believe In 2Pac w/Kadafi, Big Pimpin - released on 2pac album
6 68 And I Owe You 1 Jewell & The 68 Girls  - unleaked
7 Han Cuff Ya Hoes Top Dogg w/ Tha Realest - unleaked
8 Gotta Love A Gangsta Tha Realest & Scarface  - on C2K
9 Cry For Me Die For U Tha Realest w/ Top Dogg & Sheeba Black - leaked on Top Dogg album project
10 I'm Commin' Home Tha Realest  - On c2k
11 Against All Odds Danny Boy  - leaked
12 Fiend To A Pipe Young Soldierz  - unleaked

Now it sounds like there might be some alternate mixes of already released songs in the snippets.  I know the original version of THEY WANNA BE LIKE US had Chocolate Bandit on it, and they took him off for the C2K version, so the Inside Out version might still have him on it.

Also, I have a promo CD of IT MIGHT SOUND CRAZY REMIX with UNCONDITIONAL LOVE and both tracks say they were taken from the Inside Out Compilation.  So I'm not sure if the IT MIGHT SOUND CRAZY RMX was a last minute addition or removal.

But for the most part, the only songs not leaked are mostly the R&B songs and the intros.  Only ones of any note I'm waiting for is 50 Sac, Snoop Dogg/Bitch Dogg and Hancuff Ya Hoes.

The guys at Bomb1st have both Chronic 2000 and Inside Out, if I didn't lose that CD, I could have showed you all a photo Jon Hyland sent me back in 2001 of some weird (but bloody cool) Chronic 2000 promotional material where the case of the album looked like a cigar box

Oh I'm sure there are.  As with any compilation, I'm sure there's plenty that didn't make the final tracklist.  Ever since Inside Out was pulled from shelves, I've heard rumors of certain people who grabbed it off store shelves before the recall, it was released as an lp (record) early before it was pulled, etc, etc....over the last near 20 years been hearing those rumors.  But no one can produce anything.  Finally these snippets leak proving at least someone got a hold a some of the songs.  Probably from a promo or a studio CD.  I still don't believe this was ever pressed with artwork and everything and hit the shelves anywhere in the US.  I was at the store the day it was supposed to drop and no one had anything or any clue.  Even the little mom and pop shops that got everything back in the day didn't have it.

That would be nice to make it available.....every year that goes by, the fan base of people that want this sort of thing diminishes.  Could you imagine if someone sold this as a project 10/15 years ago?  Would have been hot.  Now I bet less than 50 people would pony up any kind of money for this.  It's sad really.  All these old unreleased songs people are holding onto, every year they depreciate in value more and more.  Even the 2Pac songs, hardly anyone under 25 even cares about 2Pac or would be checking for any kind of his new music.  The older fans grow up, have families, move on to other things.  Case in point, this forum where all the old school hip hop heads reside, only a handful of people even commented in this thread or showed any kind of enthusiasm about it.  If people in this forum aren't excited about this, best believe no one else is getting excited.

Yeah probably a handful of people would....but a far cry from what they could have got back in the day if they made a project out of it.  Of course back then Death Row (or their estate holders) might have been more in their face about it.

This will leak eventually, just like most unreleased Death Row projects. I only really wanna hear "Fifty Sac" and "Snoop Dogg/Bitch Dogg".

Looking at the age of the material and the certainty of the project, the enigma surrounding it and given that this was a project created to usher in the 'new era'; $150 seems like a reasonable price.

Maybe someone should gather up a list of all the interested parties. I'm sure if this gains at least x50 people who are interested, it would find its way onto a link

A price point that you could actually get a decent amount of buyers?  Probably 15 to 20 bucks. Just do digital download and forego hardcopies so you don't have to mess with shipping

Personally 20.00 would be the most I'd pay for a project like this, and mainly because of the Soopafly song for me. Alot of the project has been released/leaked already so you'd really only be paying for a handful of songs. And it looks like Snoop Dogg/bitch Dogg was removed, which is the song i think most people wanted.

10/15 years ago you probably could have got 50 bucks a pop for it.

50 people paying 150.00 each for a link??  Never going to happen, that isn't realistic at all.  Again, how many songs on this project are actually unleaked/unreleased?  There are 24 songs on the album, but over half we've already heard or been released.  I count about 10 unheards.  I figure boils down to about 15.00 per song at your price of actual unheard songs. Of which, 2 are intros.  Way too much.  Now if someone would offer the remixed Dre songs and the few other unheards off the OG Chronic 2000 album with this project, you might get some more interest.

Should've offered this project up 10/15 years ago and you would have got some decent money.  I don't want to discount what you have, it's a neat little collection of songs, but the ship has pretty much sailed at this point.  Salvage what you can and get something for it before it leaks.  Remember all the FTP releases, those are leaked everywhere now.  This will be the same way eventually.

15 to 20.00 for the project and you'll get some interest and probably get it done.  Otherwise, I'm with the camp thinking this will leak eventually for free.  Hell, I've waited 20 years for this, what's another 5 or 10 years at this point honestly?  Someone will leak it by then and what you have will be worth nothing.  I'm a patient man.

First rule of investing, know when to hold on to what you have and know when to sell when it's time.  The value is not going to increase the longer you hold on to them, the value of these songs are dropping every year. (Not saying you in particular have the songs, just saying 'you' in general to whomever might be holding onto them).

I wouldn't be surprised if a whole slew of Death Row material gets leaked in the years to come.  The Death Row material keeps changing hands, going to new companies, technology improves, etc.  Best believe people at WideAwake copied a ton of stuff and have it in their own collections.  Will the new owners keep the songs as tightly locked away?  Probably not.  The more hands the songs go through, the greater the chance of them leaking, people sneaking out with stuff, and the harder it's going to be to trace the person who actually leaked the songs.

Yes I did notice the typo!  I figured that's exactly what happened.  Someone just typed up the tracklist and made a cover for their CD-R.  No way that picture was from an 'official promo' or anything like that.  Still don't know whatever happened to that Snoop Dogg/Bitch Dogg song.  That had been on every tracklist for Inside Out I've ever seen, but then on this printout it's not there.  So I don't know if the person who got a hold of this is holding the song back, or they never got a hold of the song and just replaced it with something else or what.

That works out to about 33.00 a person.  Not too far off where I was valuing it at.  I still think he could've got close to 100 a person 10/15 years ago.  Look at what those unreleased 2Pac CDs were selling for back in the day, big money.

It was never claimed to be an actual promo, but you're correct it's homemade.

Also, it's listed as "Fifth Sac" in 4 different places on the Death Row inventory spreadsheet. So "Fifty Sac" was more likely the title with the typo.

No, because actual Inside Out tracklist contained both songs. But, I wonder if there's not a verse (Swoop G or Lil C-Style) from "Snoop Dogg / Bitch Dogg" which ended in, then, a new version of "Easy To Be A Soldier" (previously a Tha Realest solo song or something like that).

I have a theory that "Snoop Dogg / Bitch Dogg" is the same song as "Bustaz (Ryder Version)" that was on one of Swoop G's solo albums. Going along with what you said, Lil C-Style re-did one of his verses from that song for "Easy to be a Soldier."

That's what i thought about too, but Swoop G does say "We ain't on the Row" on the song though. Of course that could've been added later on.

That's my feelin too. I think Lil C-Style recycled more than once his verse.

(...) so then I fucked around and see my homebody Young Swoop, and that nigga was like come to the studio and I kicked a verse that I had on the street underground song called "Dog Killa," that was the original song and I took a verse from that and thats what I made the Easy To Be A Soldier song out of. - Lil C-Style.

This song "Dog Killa" was surely the demo version (or another title) of "Bustaz (Ryder Version)".

Wonder why WideAwake didn't release this when they had the chance.  They would have had to remove the 2pac song (or replace it with the released version of Late Night), but seems like a no brainer.  I'm sure it was already mixed and ready to go for the most part.  Instead those chose to release that compilation "20 to Life" which was a collection of mostly previously released songs and was pretty terrible.

They got problems with The Ultimate Collection Box Set (dont remember how but the distribution was stopped) that's why they included a lot of the same songs in 20 To Life compilations.

But ur right, like LBC album or Crooked I album, they could release Inside Out.

WideAwake said early on that they would not release anything by Top Dogg or Tha Realest. I believe this was because they were trying keep a good relationship with Snoop and Pac's estate, and because those 2 acts wouldn't generate any profits (not like anything they did release made a lot anyway). That "rule" alone eliminated like half of the songs on Inside Out.

They did release "With Me Tonight" from Inside Out by Jewell and Storm, which was one of the better songs from WA. Not sure why they didn't drop "Fifth/Fifty Sac" by Soopafly, "July Halloween" by Sixx Feet Deep, or "Fiend to a Pipe" by Young Solidierz. All those tracks sounded like bangers in the snippets.

This is strange because Tha Realest said back in the day that he talked with Wideawake in order to release his Death Row material... Who know... But we understand that they didn't want to release anything by Tha Realest or YGD.

Not sure why they didn't drop "Fifth/Fifty Sac" by Soopafly, "July Halloween" by Sixx Feet Deep, or "Fiend to a Pipe" by Young Solidierz. All those tracks sounded like bangers in the snippets.

Huh that's interesting.  Never knew that about YGD and Tha Realest.  Makes sense though, now that I think about it, WideAwake didn't release anything from them.

Wish they would have released 50 Sac by Soopafly instead of "This Type Of Flow" on that 20 to Life compilation.  That song had been out forever.

50 Sac = the who's world is it (it has been released a couple times, on a few different random projects)
Soopafly mentions the words 50 sack, in the track and that's where it stops, the rest of the hook is him repeating who's world is it?
