Title: Drug Ads
Post by: Don Breezio on August 21, 2003, 11:00:22 PM
what do you guys think...are anti-drug ads and talking to kids about not doing drugs having an effect on them? do you think kids respond more to what they see and hear or what they experience...honestly i think these anti-drug ads dont do a damn thing....but talking to your kids does i think...although i cant make a good judgement because i've never tried drugs and i dont know if its because i listened to my parents or from my own experiences (with my dad and the ppl around me)...what do you guys think?

Teens hardly listen to their parents and eveen if they do its with a touch of skeptism.. and in case of issues of such delicate nature it's absolutely impossible for parents to behave like seasoned psycologists...

ADs are becoming increasingly influential in our life and as somone said visual medium is THE best for propagation of any kind of message...

To generate gr8er impact Ads can also make use of the service of past drug addicts or those comin outta rehabs to convey these warnings...
Folks @ home r indispensable in the process of increasing awareness but they can't do this job alone..
and in this age when kids hardly get to talk to their parents and are more influenced by their peers.. to sey

ADS don't help is also St8 BS...

I think the Anti-drug ads help a little bit, they kind of steered me away from drugs when I was a kid.  The best thing for me though was the examples of my parents.  My dad would talk to me about drugs without a second thought, he smoked a little pot when he was younger and didn't care telling me about it.  He always put forth the atmosphere that drugs existed, you could do them if you want, but he had done them and moved on, and didn't think they were anything that would help your life... so I just took that and rolled with it.  You're right, the best deterrant is parents, but most parents don't talk to their kids about stuff like that.
