Title: death penalty ....where do you stand
Post by: Don Jacob on October 03, 2002, 10:30:29 AM
me i'm neutral

morally i think it's wrong

but legally the way we do it it's not cruel or unusual punishment (i mean it's crueler to be in prison all your life if you ask me)

but still that's taking someone's life before they have a chance to rehabilitate

I dont think anyone has the right to kill anyone.  If the person has commited a serious crime, give him life imprinsonment, educate and teach him, give him a chance to expand his intellect and repent and understand what he had done.

In cases with very strong evidence against the offender and the offence is something along the lines of rape/murder then they should just kill them. If your caught stealing, then chop one of their fingers off. Second time, then the whole hand should could come off.

the whole execution thang has got me mixed up

on one hand, my religion uses execution for crimes such as murder, adultery etc

on the other hand, i find the left wing socialist in me opposed to it

irregardless, i dont think u can call ya self a democracy and legalize execution

by our law you are free to do whatever you want until you mess with other peoples rights and the arguments over the years that are pro capitol punishment are that if you take some one's right to live in vane , your right are suspended as well. but this isn't a national legalization of it as you think ....it's a state by state law some states execute some don't , the people get to decide wether or not capitol punishment should be in effect in their state  or not......if anything that makes us a stronger democracy.....the strongest

i personally think anyone who commits murder, unless their are unusual circumstances, should be given death...right away no 10 years waiting for an appeal...i dont understand giving a murderer life in prison...its a waiste of tax dollars...keeping a waste of life alive....

depends on the severity of the crime....if a muthafucker commits a mass murder...he deserves to die...if a muthafucker murders a little kid they deserve to die...if a muthafucker molests a kid they should be thrown in general population....theyll get murdered eventually....anyone who commits murder period should be killed....

I am definitely FOR the Death Penalty.  You can forgive, but justice must still be rendered.  But really, I think death is too easy.  A REAL punishment for a serious crime involving murder would be locked up in a small cell for 23 hours a day for THE REST OF THEIR LIVES, with no books, music, or entertainment of any kind.  Now THAT is punishment.  The only problem I got with that is that we, the taxpayers, have to pay for that sorry fuck to eat and get medical treatment over the course of his life.  In that case, fuck it, execute them.

I think i'm against it, but I dunno, lol. I switch back and forth.

Like Tech, Morally I think it's probably wrong, Christ wouldn't kill anybody even if they were a killer.  He'd probably let himself die before that... oh wait, I think he did. LOL.

Anyways,

I think we ought to turn the prisons into sweat shops.  Work the hell out of em, then we wouldn't have to buy foriegn goods, and the quality of life in america would go through the ceiling.  Just my opinion.  But why not? It's not cruel and unusual punishment to make a prisoner work, when nowadays, prisoners just lay around all day relaxing, and us working men are out busting our butt all day.  They should be working at least as hard as us.  If we can stand it, they can stand it.

What exactly is it yall want? America to fold? Do you want America to just disband, and break up, or get overthrown?  Do you honestly think you'd agree with the government anywhere in the world?  Yall don't agree with anything.  Guess what? I'm free, I live in a democracy.  Yall can try and explain to me why It's not a democracy, or why i'm not free, but I am free as hell right now.  I can do whatever the hell I want.  If you're pissed that I face execution for killing somebody, basing it on a political definition of democracy, yall have serious problems.  A democracy has no laws?

I'm down to rid the evil of the world

but

Like Christ said when the adultress was going to be stoned:

"He without sin be the first to cast a stone"

Meaning, who are we to kill someone?

So to be honest, I'm not quite sure where I stand. If you do some horriffic crime, then you deserve to pay a very VERY heavy price, whether it is death that you gotta pay, well thank God it's not up to me.

While their in prison the fuckers are taking tax payers money, best to get rid of them. The world would be a better place, there'd still be scum around but atleast it would be a lower number.

i believe in the Death penalty but not in it's currant state

the death penalty is supposed to be a deterent but it doesn't work we have one of the highest crime rates of all the developed country, and the Death penalty system costs more than putting a person away for life.

it's also hard for anyone to make the punishment fit the crime so...

we have one of the highest crime rates of all the developed country

directly related to the legal availabillity guns IMO

the phrase "shooting yaself in the foot" seems highly ironic..

the death penalty is cowardly.  it's state sponsored murder.  it's not justice, it's not maintaining law and order; it is revenge.

it's a lie.  it's hypocricy.  it's a group of people that want to see a murder occur but are too cowardly to commit it themselves.  it's a barbaric practice.

people are saying "those prison inmates are using up tax payer dollars"  it costs more to put someone to death than it does to keep them in prison for life.

if you're so concerned with tax payer dollars, let's do the jury trial thing, and then turn the guilty over to a mob.   let's bring back lynchings, that will save tax dollars.
