Yo if I was gonna make a mixtape with remixes and would sell it on my site would I need to take care of legal shit because I'm gonna use their acapellas?
-
naw. as long as you dont get caught u can do anything.
-
lol, "as long as you don't get caught" you can murder half the world. ;D
That's not my question, my question was if you need legal rights to make a mixtape.

;)
-
if you sell it then most likely yes
-
what if you just release a mixtape of your remixes and stuff and give it out 4 free off a website or partys and stuff?
-
This is what you do...put up snippets on your website and put "contact me for more info on this mixtape" and when they email you tell them its for sale and give them the price.
-
as long as you don't play songs in their entirity, i think it's alright.
-
lol...
of course you cant use acapellas and then sell the remix....
I think you just can use a small sample.... like a few seconds... I think it was max. 4 seconds.....
thats it boy...... want money ? get a job
-
i asked if i could give it out for free
-
sell stickers, and with them include a free copy of your CD.....thats what i do, but im usually slangin em for free anyway....there is no problem doin it like that, but u cant sell them for a profit
Speaking of mixtapes....HAve ya'll heard the samples of my newest one...featuring exclusive tracks by weasle loc & Mic The Mos Confident....INSANE!
Listen IN REAL AUDIO @ www.verbalattack.cjb.net
Im also going to release A Greatest hits of Mic the mos confident....keep an eye out for that as well

I don't think that givin' it away for free is legal either, because that would be like burnin' your disc and givin' it away to a friend, so that he doesn't have to buy it anymore. You could for example only put in some scratches, say that's your own mixtape and give it away, but in reality you just wanted to make it legal to give away a burned version of an album so that your mate doesn't have to buy that one anymore. So I don't think that's legal.

With me, i know most of the artists on my tapes, and we are out there promoting ourselves, so its all good.....the only thing is we are using beats if anything....but i guess it does come down to if you get caught or not
-
u have to write FOR PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY on it. all the dj's do so it must affect something legally
