I do look sort of similar to him, but no, that's not me.  I've been gaining weight lately, and my face has rounded out, but I don't have long or even shaggy hair anymore.

I have Brian Wilson in my avatar because I've been studying him lately, the guy is one of the greatest musical geniuses that's ever walked the planet.  I don't know how many of you would appreciate his music, because most of it is soft, loving pop songs, but if you understand and accept that love songs are what music is meant to be, then you would agree that this man does it better than any other before or after.  He makes music that actually touches you, and not through the lyrics or anything, just the general mood of the song.

His father beat him when he was a child, making him deaf in one ear.  He's also a little 'slow', but in a way like I've never seen.  He's intelligent, mature, and 100% in touch with reality, but acts and thinks with a child's curiosity and appreciation of the world.  After he became famous with the Beach Boys, he abandoned their simple pop formula he made them famous for, and searched for and found the ability to produce and write amazing music.  He battled depression and drug dependency for 30 years, and then re-emerged a few years ago, after the death of his two brothers, with his musical genius amazingly intact.  His new compositions are on the level they were when he left off 30 years ago, and it's just an inspiration to see a man fight back from such bad circumstances, and emerge as good as he was before.

That's why I think he deserves to be heralded and respected, loved.
