Title: Political Correctness gone mad

Don't mention the war

Pupils at a school were warned "Don't mention the War " in their Christmas show . . . in case they caused offence to sensitive parents.

The kids had planned to stage the famous scene from the classic comedy Fawlty Towers as one of the highlights of their programme.

But it proved no laughing matter for teachers at St Thomas More school in Blaydon, Gateshead, who feared a backlash and decided to pull the plug.

A source said: "The episode - the one about the Germans and "don't mention the war" - is arguably the most well- known and funniest of an internationally-acclaimed comedy series.

"To accuse it of being racist is political correctness at its worst.

"After weeks of preparations, rehearsing and getting costumes and scenery, the show was all ready to go on and all the tickets had been sold.

"However, two days before the start date, the deputy head decided to cancel it."

In the episode Basil Fawlty, played by John Cleese, is left alone in charge of the Torquay hotel by his wife Sybil who has gone into hospital for a minor operation.

He suffers a concussion after being struck by a moose's head he was attempting to nail to a wall in the foyer, causing him to act even more deranged then ever.

While serving some German guests in the dining room, he loudly says to staff "Don't mention the war" within earshot of the foreign visitors, who are bitterly upset.

The scene ends with Basil goose-steeping in and out of the dining room before his antics are brought to an end after he is hit once again by the moose's head.

The concert involved kids from all years in the school for 11-19 year olds.

The Roman Catholic school's head teacher Michael Zarraga said: "I certainly did not regard that episode of Fawlty Towers as racist."

He added: "I personally found it very funny.

"It was thought some people may take a different view and be sensitive to it and so it was pulled out of the show.

"The Christmas concert is a celebration of both Christ's birth and the talents of the students.

"It was decided that it was better not to risk being contentious.

"I think there is a difference between being aware of other people's sensibilities and political correctness."

Kilroy is another case of political correctness gone mad.

Fuck Kilroy hes a racist bitch, i hope the bbc sack him. Its got nothing to do with political correctness. Kilroy can say what he wants but people also have the right to criticise him.

He said "We are told by some of the more hysterical critics of the war on terror that "it is destroying the arab world" so should we be worried about that? "

"the Arab countries are not exactly shining examples of civilisation, are they? Few of them make much contribution to the welfare of the rest of the world. Indeed, apart from oil - which was discovered, is produced and is paid for by the West - what do they contribute?

"They should go down on their knees and thank God for the munificence of the United States,"

"What do they think we feel about them? That we adore them for the way they murdered more than 3,000 civilians on September 11 and then danced in the hot, dusty streets to celebrate the murders?

That we admire them for the cold-blooded killings in Mombasa, Yemen and elsewhere? That we admire them for being suicide bombers, limb-amputators, women repressors? I don't think the Arab states should start a debate about what is really loathsome."

Kilroy has a history of racism
In 1995, he said "Muslims everywhere behave with equal savagery. They behead criminals, stone to death female - only female - adulteress, throw acid in the faces of women who refuse to wear the 'chadar', mutilate the genitals of young girls and ritually abuse animals."

In 1992 he said Ireland was a country "populated by peasants, priests and pixies"

lol

btw how come no one complained when that kilroy article was first published april last year? he may have gone a bit too far in the way he said some things but this whole situation has been blown out of proportion. come on he just said what the media is usually afraid to say and is what most of the population thinks anyway. but the generalisations could have caused offense but then who doesn't generalise when they talk about different groups/nationality.

being english everyone thinks i must have bad teeth and just sit around drinking tea all day
americans are fat and dumb blah blah blah ppl take shit too seriously

Just because nobody complained the first time does not mean the article is acceptable, it is still racist. And if the majority of the population agrees with him that does not make them right. The majority of British people are racist. The Express is a racist newspaper the sort of people that buy it are going to agree with him and will not complain.

It seems that racism towards Arabs is acceptable, substitute the word Jew or Blacks and it is highly racist. Kilroy in the original article was not only talking about Arab states he was talking about all Arabs. You do not have the freedom of speech to incite racial hatred.

Kilroy is clearly racist he described the looters after the Iraq war as "a load of thieving arabs".

He has said asylum seekers and visitors from Africa, eastern Europe and Asia are largely responsible for poisoning our green and pleasant land with aids.

all those countries have alot worse problems in respect to aids than we do, you do the maths. also we got all these ppl coming to britain to take advantage of the free aids treatment we offer which is very expensive. having said all that almost all of the young people i know only use condoms accassionally so its still our fault for being foolish.

and its not just because its with arabs i defend him. for one i don't see why bbc can keep anne robinson on the air after what she said about the welsh on the bbc 2 program room 101 and then take kilroy (even though i don't like him) off the air for something he said in the express totally seperate from the bbc.

btw do you know of the kind of stuff they show on arabic television/newspapers?

like i said before maybe he phrased it innappropriate manner but you can't deny that the truth lies behind it otherwise you are nieve.
