i like to rate albums a couple months after they came out (and not in the same week), and the black album, i dont know about you all, but for me its the album with the most replay value in 2003, most of the stuff that came out in 2003 was collecting dust after 2 or 3 weeks but its still in my stereo after all this time, which is rare nowaydays. its an album with substance, i like the structure on it. ill give it another 2 months and come back

For me it's "Dirt Of Your Shoulders", I play it the most, because of Timbaland's sick production and tight verses by Hova. But there are many good songs...

"Encore" is amazing with "Threat" close behind.  For real tho, this is a sick album from front to back.

wasn't really bumpin it all that much but to me it's Moment Of Clarity.. Em's beats might sound similar but nevertheless this one's a banger.. and Jigga came dope on it

i gotta go with dirt off yer shoulders. Timbaland hooks up some amazing production, probably the best on the album and jigga spits some hot verses in this song, although sayin hes the muthafuckin greatest aint' right, he sure is one of the all time greats.

First of all, great album, best of 2003 for sure.  Ya, this Jay cd didnt have the masses behind it like BLueprint, and didnt/doesnt have a huge hit single, but it is still the best jay album maybe ever....

As for best songs, the two that come to mind are ENCORE and DEC 4th.....Encore gave me a new found respect for Kanye, with its pete rockesqu prdocuction.  And Dec 4th, that track was annoying at first but became one of my favs EVER!  Both great songs, but as i said when i first heard it, ENCORE is the song of the year, from the production to the lyrics to the dude in the background to the chanting, its all good.

I don't bump the album a whole lot anymore, but when I do my favorite track is "Dirt Off Your Shoulder". Timbo's beat is too ill, and Jay murders it. I like just about every song though, it's a great album.
