wtf....since i got my router thing 2 connect my sister's comp 2 internet and shit there's been hellllla pop ups and advertisements on my shit.....i leave tha comp on all day and come bac at night finding like 40 advertisement windows just sittin there waitin 4 me.....im browsin dubcc and 1 pops up every 2 minutes.....shits gettin lame.....i kno u can buy pop stoppers or wuteva....but fuc all dat....is there somethin else i could that i aint kno about?

theres 2 types of popups
ones from websites.
and ones from windows messenger (this is NOT msn...) <-- u can turn this off to stop those

I dun have MSN......I have yahoo messenger but dat shit aint neva on......I got AIM.......but uhh how do I turn em off?

nah i just said its not that.. messenger service is a part of windows

do they look like webpages? or do they come up in a message box like a program uses?

Do you have any AIM add-ons such as DeadAIM or AIM morph? Programs like that can stop AIM popups...AIM has A LOT! of pop ups! Adaware 6 will find your prob too they usually come from programs in your computer Adaware will find those. I suggest DL DeadAIM from Kazaa first and then Adaware, be advised ADAWARE WILL FUCK UP KAZAA! good luck :)

another problem is every WCC page I click it refreshes twice before I can chec da page out......

The grey box ones u need a firewall to stop those...I don't have a firewall so I get those too very rarely. Don't leave your computer on and on the internet when you are not on it because some of those popups can give u a trojan horse virus that will let in other viruses and hackers thats all I can say since u didn't understand the first part...good luck ::)

My brother got me to download this web browser called mozilla, it doesn't have pop ups.

The grey box are the ones seer is talking about. They are windows messaging service. Not the instant message thing you can download, it is a program that comes with windows... and there are ways to turn it off. I don't remember off hand, just look it up on a search engine like google or yahoo... that is what I did when I first had issues.

Actually, now that I think about it... I think you have to go to your start menu, and go to the run option... Once you open the run toolbar, type in msconfig. One of the tabs at the top should say services (at least with xp, not sure about the others).... then under services, find the box that says messenger, or windows messenger, and uncheck it. If that doesn't take care of your problem, then download adaware, or spybot search and destroy. Make sure to update spybot if that is the route you go. Hope this helps. Shits annoying.

All you have to do is download Ad-Aware from Lavasoft. It's free, and it's just a program on your computer. When you have problems like that, a lot of times it's because a website has 'hijacked' your browser. They actually install a code on your computer that makes you view the internet through a hacked browser, and they can pop up ads at will, everytime you change pages, etc. I've had this happen about 10 times! You run ad-aware, it finds everything that shouldn't be there, and resets your computer... when you log back on, usually, all the stuff is gone and the computer is faster (on the net) to boot. I use Kazaa lite and it didn't mess it up. I think it's because Kazaa lite doesn't have the programs that do this, I believe simply downloading Kazaa infects your computer...
