I got no problem with music when it's informative and thoughtful. But most of this entertainment is exploitative. I'm not saying that artists like Beyonce, Ludacris and whoever else aren't talented and don't make good music; they do. But it is exploitative. What effect does it have on the listener?
You are running around thinking that this music and culture has no affect on you. But it is a clear message in some of this songs. Let's take popular radio music. That Fabulous song featuring Tamia. The message is clear. This girls love is real because she isn't impressed by fake ballers and loves real ballers with real diamonds and alot of zero's in their bank account. And that's real love? That's authentic?
Let's take Alicia Keys. Ya'll think she is real? What's so real about her music. Falling in and out of love. Telling an x-boyfriend he ain't shit anymore. What's so real about that? What's sustaining about that? What is fullfilling about that?
Ya'll think Kelis is real? Why? Cause she has a little style and she's dating Nas so she's real? What's real about Kelis. She is selling sex. They are manipulating every man's natural inclination towards sex. They are taking this sincere, honest desire for sex and manipulating you and exploiting you for all your worth.
The only lawful relations between a man and a woman are through marriage. The media doesn't want to advocate that becaues it isn't profitable. It is not profitable. Spending time with your wife and family is not profitable. Going out to bars and clubs and dancing, buying, promoting their music and heeding to the call of the Shatan is.

Agreed, some good points made. However, not everyone is going to agree with your views, there is room in this world for more than one point of view. I like to have a good time and here a song in the club that is bumpin once in awhile, and sometimes i like to see girl exploit herself by looking mad sexy!
If you are trying to convert people or make people change, you are going about it the wrong way homie. NOthing against you, but i for one have enough intelligence and self-esteem to not emulate hiphop culture just because i like a certain song or certain artists.

You said that some people just want to enjoy life and not take it seriously. That's a good point. And thank you for displaying some dignity and respect in your response (as opposed to other responses). However, I think that everything we do in this life has it's repercussions, either before or after we die, it has it's repercussions.
And this is a serious matter. Our innocence is being stolen. We have a word "fitrah" in Islam, meaning natural. We are strongly opposed to anything that is unnatural. The way that our natural inclination for sex is being manipulated and exploited, causes decay within the human spirit. It makes us to desire things that are unlawful, unhealthy and unnatural. It has seriously damaged people's perception of good. When a Muslim woman wants to wear a scarf covering her hair and dress modestly she is considered extreme. In France they even banned women from doing that in public schools. Why is it a problem when women want to wear more clothes? It is because society has been conditioned to desire things that are unnatural for them.
