Don't know what to think. Nas last two albums were incredible so he might be able to pull off a good album. I wonder if he'll drop a good album (Art Of War, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below) or will it be lackluster (The Blueprint 2), obviously it won't be classic (All Eyez On Me, Life After Death).
-
I doubt it will happen.
I don't like double albums at all but I would have loved to see how the I Am concept would have turned out if not for the bootlegging.
Why would you think this:
obviously it won't be classic (All Eyez On Me, Life After Death).
I wouldn't say pulling off an album as a good as Life After Death is impossible now. I think that album is actually a bit overrated.
-
nas has put out a bunch of albums better than life after death & all eyez on me...fuck saying nas cant drop a classic. a double album may not sound like it would work for him but since when has nas ever let anyone down? the only time nas has ever let anyone down was with nastradamus. the rest have all been classics in my eyes. I Am as a double album would probably be my favorite nas album if thats the way it would've dropped.

what up with that 10 track album entirely produced by himself? I liked that idea more than a double album
-
Haven't heard from Nas in a minute, who knows what his planning. I do like the 10 track album all produced by himself. All of his self produced tracks were pretty tight, and that underground sound could help him out a lot. The double album from him would be interesting. I think that I Am... would have been a desent double album if not for the bootlegging, and another Lost Tapes would right now be a good move also. We'll see what Nas pulls off. I know Jay-Z didn't want to do the double album, but Roc-A-Fella thought it would be a good idea, and instead was a bad move that following the Best of Both Worlds drama, and the Nas battle put the nail in the coffen for Jay-Z as hip-hop's top figure. Right now Nas has momentum do to his win over Jay-Z, no one really caring about Cam'ron dissing him, his relationship with Kelis getting big news even though Kelis isn't that known in the U.S., and God's Son doing well with critics. We'll see. I wish Nas luck as doulbe albums are hard to do, unless your 2Pac who only seems to come out in double album form at all times.

Double albums these days r just another excuse to get more shit songs on 2 2 cds. He shud concentrate on putting another dope album out of about 20 tunes or sumit.
-
i like the sound of that 10 track album and lost tpes 2, but a little scetchy about the double album, peace.
-
disc 1 - 14 songs
disc 2 - 3 songs
watch!

i doubt anybody would have the audacity to call that a double album...Man Vs. Machine wasn't considered a double album either

my ideal nas album would look something like this
12-14 tracks
3 guests spots: 2 with AZ, one with Amerie
2 premo produced tracks
10 nas produced tracks
2 alchemist produced tracks

Why so many tracks produced by Nas? And what about Pete Rock, Large Professor, etc??

2 premo produced tracks

i'd say like
3 by Nas
3 by Primo
2 by LES
2 by Pete Rock
2 by Alchemist
2 by Large Pro

Yeah thats more like it, I would prehaps take away one of the Nas productions and put 9th Wonder on a track. If he can come up with something like his remix of Ether then that would be straight fire.

because i like the idea of an album with most tracks produced by nas, i gotta have atleast one premo & one alchemist track on there.

i wouldnt want NAs doing the majority of his album

What Songs Has Nas Produced Before?
-
what?!!?!? i do n dont like the idea of a 10 track cd, for one, in todays world, its to small and wouldnt sell shit for nas......and lets face it, sales to do matter......secondly, i donno why people be ignorin large pro.......him n nas make some of the sickest shit gwarnin......i still wanna see some dark dre beats, like with the strings n shit with nas rappin.........but i aint sure dre knows how to make positive music
-
plus nas sets standards real high, so we all expect good shitf rom him to......so a 4 mic album is minimum of expectations when nas drops joints
-
The self produced album is a good idea when u think of songs like 'One Mic', but when u think of his track off 8 Mile, the idea isnt so crash hot.
Was there ever an actual tracklisting for the 2cd version of I Am? I remember all that bootlegging ruining it, but was there an official word on what was going on with that album?
Basically, any Nas release, Im copping. After dropping 2-3 albums this year, I think Columbia will drop a Greatest Hits next year, its just a matter of time
-
Nas' production is amateur, so I wouldn't really like an album produced mostly by himself...PeCAe

man you always talk about amateur production, like the shit has to be complex to be good? fuck that i could care less if shits complex. i want some good shit either way. and nas makes dope shit. one mic was one of my favorites.

lol One Mic was dope. It went from slow to fast and fitted the lyrics and shit perfect.
If not knowing what professionial production makes me enjoy a song more, I'd rather not know the difference between professional and amateur production.

yeah, u kinda trippin on how professional sumbody's production is. u feelin it or not, damn

I can't see people not purchasing an album cause it only has ten tracks. But I don't think it matters anyways, Nas goes platinium everytime (except for The Lost Tapes) and it seems like he's content with that.

I don't think that there was a tracklisting for the album ready but the concept of the album was that it was his life from birth to death (and afterlife). I believe it was supposed to be called I Am...The Autobiography instead of just I Am....
You can place some of the pieces of the puzzle. It would start of with "Fetus" (I want all my niggas to come journey with me, My name is Nas, and the year is 1973, Beginning of me, therefore I could see, Through my belly button window, who I am..) and end with "Undying Love" (Kissed my lady, her blood on my lips, I said "Amen"/ Put the nine to my head, pulled the hammer, held her close/ Squeeze the toast, said to her, "Now unto God, we elope") followed by "Amongst Kings" (Commited suicide/ I wish I could erase this shit).
The bootlegging of this album was a tragedy.
-
thanks Ras Kass T... that helped
Yeah bootleggins a bitch, but thats the world we live in. Kids these days will download instead of buy albums, or in other cases just pay for a bootleg, its quite annoying to fans that do buy, when good albums are ruined (Nas, Knocturnal)
As for the greatest hits...it would be a pain coz I have every Nas release, but realise they will add 2-3 new songs and a remix or 2, or dvd to interest fans. So it would be worth it in the end.
I Am and Nastradamas were the lowest points in his career, and the bootlegging is the reason behind it. But alteast we were blessed with the Lost Tapes to compensate.
Back to topic, Id much rather a single album... double albums shits me, we could have more Pac albums with only 10-12 good songs... instead of 4 posthumous double cds with 15-17 songs on each disc!
