Nas – I am
1. Album intro
2. N.Y. state of mind…Nice, smooth production goes perfect with Nas’ well-crafted lyricism. 4/5
3. Hate me now…Nas spits 3 verses about coming up in the game and basically flossing. Loud production; orchestra sounding. Puff Daddy appears on the chorus. 4/5
4. Small world…A great track about how the past can come back to haunt you in the future and present time. A+ story-telling. 4.5/5
5. Favor for a favor…Scarface accompanies Nas on the track to spit some great lines. However, the hook is weak and the production doesn’t fit well. 3.5/5
6. We will survive…An ode to fallen rap heroes Notorious B.I.G. and 2Pac. Heartfelt verses about the two. 4/5
7. Ghetto prisoners…Average production and an average delivery from Nas. Simply, boring chorus. 3/5
8. You won’t see me tonight…First of all, this beat does not fit Nas’ style. Aaliyah does a great job on the hook. 3.5/5
9. I want to talk to you…Nas is talking a lot of politics on this track. Great production. 4/5
10. Dr. Knockboot…He is giving sex advice here. A short track with a decent flow, but the production is terrible. 3/5
11. Life is what you make it…Good flow from both Nas and DMX, but the production is below par. Weak hook. 3/5
12. Big things…Nas changes up his flow to a stop and stutter style, which fits the production well. 3.5/5
13. Nas is like…Great production and great flow and delivery. Chorus has a nice, old school feel. 4/5
14. K-I-SS-I-N-G…A tight ghetto love song. Good flow and smooth production. Good hook. 4/5
15. Money is my bitch…Unique track. Nas sounds as if he is rapping about his lady, but then you realize he’s talking about money. Regae-sounding beat is strange, but it works. 4/5
16. Undying love…Overall, a great story, which unfolds like a movie. A+ production. 4/5
OVERALL…4/5
The gems in this album are scattered throughout the tracks. Production lacks here and there, but for the most part, lyrics are on point. Some hooks needed work; they almost seemed rushed. Nevertheless, this is still a superb Nas album.

This album was lacking production wise. It was a step down from It Was Written which is my favorite nas album, even over Illmatic

Nice review... I agree with the overall 4 rating... but id give "Nas Is Like" a 5/5... straight classic... and id give "you won't see me tonight" a 4/5... one of the better tracks IMO...
