Title: Mack 10 Presents...Da Hood
Post by: That_Cracka_J on August 10, 2002, 06:17:39 PM
Mack 10 Presents…Da Hood

1. Intro
2. Welcome to the hood…Smooth production accompanied with dope verses from Mack 10 and the gang.  Not much of a hook, but the suddle humming of “da hood” in the background works just fine.  4/5
3. L.A. fo ya…Track has an overall touch of old school to it.  Gangsta lyrics work well with the track.  3.5/5
4. Everyday…Very simple, but loud production.  Down south feel, being produced by and featuring Lil Jon.  Flow and delivery is very slow to fit the beat.  The chorus is decent, but way too long.  3/5
5. Get yo ride on…insert
6. Hittin’ switches…A tight song, but it would have been a lot better if the beat was a bit more hard-hitting, with a handclap instead of a drum loop.  3.5/5
7. We ain’t playin’…Evil sounding track.  Mack puts down a great first verse.  Tight gangsta lyrics from Deviossi, Skoop, K-Mac, and Cousteau.
8. Pimpin’ Ken…insert
9. Please…A song about  hoes.  Unique chorus and different kind of beat.  It fits the song well though.  3.5/5
10.   Payback…A solo track from Techniec.  Tight gangsta lyrics—the title says it all.  3.5/5
11.   Put it down…Mack 10, Deviossi, Skoop, Cousteau, and K-Mac each trade verses back and forth over a gangstafied instrumental.  The actual song is too short; less than 2 minutes long.  The rest is filled up with a skit over the track which is not needed.  3.5/5
12.   What you gonna do?…Basically another Techniec solo track.  Ice Cube appears only for the hook, which is tight as hell.  Interesting production.  4/5
13.   Life as a gangsta…Repetitive beat by Timbaland.  Decent lyrics by everybody, but the beat ruins it.  3/5
14.   Nobody Hoo-Bangin’ style…Decent beat and nothing really exceptional lyrically.  3/5

OVERALL…3.25/5

Overall, the production isn’t exceptional, but it’s decent.  The flow and lyrics are also decent, but the artists do nothing to really set themselves apart from each other.  Besides Mack 10, they all have pretty average lyrics and flows, which makes the replay value on the album fairly low.  It lacks substance overall.

Hittin Switches is the bomb. The other tracks are just okay. 3 out of 5 IMO.

Yall are totatlly sleeping on this album... I have bumped this album  so many times in the past year, i can't even count the times... "please" is also the best song on the album... L.A. for ya is also a tight ass song along with "Da Hood"  ... hittin switches is tight, but definetly not the best

It's an "okay" album but nothing special...
It has some decent beats, good lyrics, but like I said...nothing really tight.
