does anyone else feel this way? i've noticed that for the past few years, I've felt this way, but it never really hit me until now.
i graduated college two years ago, and immediatly after college i went travelling throughout europe for a couple of months. all i could do when i was there was wish that i was home. then i got home and realized that i had no real goals in life and no real direction. then, after much internal struggle, i decided to get off my ass in california and move to new york to get a nice job. i worked my ass off and now i'm in new york, working on wall street and i'm bored out of my mind. i come home and just watch tv or fuck around on www.dubcc.com.
i got probably the best girlfriend in my life and i can't help but feel like an asshole because i'm just boring and bored around her. i've just recently noticed that the main thing that kept me 'not-bored' was that i'd break up with a girl as soon as possible after sex in order to find someone new and mysterious. that shits fucked up.
i used to buy lots of cds to keep my interested in something, but now i feel like there isn't really anything that catches my interest anymore.
anyways, it's driving me crazy. i feel like a waste of life. i want some fucking hobbies or something that i can look forward to. the problem is (like kanye said) "you gotta be rich just to be poor here." it's true. 6 dollars for milk? i thought about taking classes, but after living in california where you can take 5 credits for 25 bucks, it's hard to accept paying 600 for 5 credits. i read a lot, but reading just sounds boring, although it's not really that boring.
i used to play a lot of basketball, but recently my ankles have been acting up and my doctor told me that my ankles and feet are a "basketball nightmare." so he's suggested physical therapy. but i don't have the money. so my recourse is to not play ball.
i kinda thought that i'd be able to have some fun with that music program fruity loops, but it's like trying to decipher the rosetta stone. i'm using my cousins copy, and there are 4000000000 things to do, none of which i know how. it's frustrating and i just don't seem to have the motivation or energy to try to learn it.
on top of all that, moving to new york is somewhat like going to a foreign country. it's really difficult to make friends. people are so absorbed in their own lives that no one really has time to stop and talk to anyone new. it's crazy because i notice it myself. for example, someone knocked me over today on the train, and i didn't even look at the person to acknowledge them. and yesterday, someone dropped their bag on the back of my foot while i was walking, causing my shoe to come off, and i didn't even look at the person to acknowledge their apology. it's interesting to see how wrapped up we get out here.
i'm proud of myself for taking the leap of faith in moving to a new place (3000) miles away in order to try something new, but now i find myself in the same predicament. i'm bored out of my mind.
i would like to pose a question at the end of this rant, but i don't know if it really matters. i'm sure many of you (if you have the patience to read this) are going to tell me all about yourselves, and how much smarter and more clever you are than me, but that's not really what i want to hear. i guess i just wanna hear what you guys do when you get bored. cuz everybody gets bored. (i think). they say that people who are bored are boring people. i don't want to believe it, but i have a sneaking suscpicion it might be true.....

i was once a pothead....that's a good idea. seriously, if i was a pothead, i don't think i would be that bored. but it'd fuck up other parts of my life.

Your problem is you're looking for something that isn't there. You have to eventually, somehow, get to a point where you can sit in a dark room alone and be happy. You're alive, life can't be all that boring. I won't preach to you because you don't want to hear it, and most don't respect my opinion anyways, but good luck!

i kinda know what u feel like, i dont even think im gonna graduate because im so fucking lazy and nothing motivates me. i do the basics, see my friends sometimes on weekdays and see my bf on weekends. its pretty good... try learning something new, finding what u like, taking pics, meeting new people, writing, exploring new places, finding some new music, moving (maybe), new sports, movies, SOMETHING fun... u know? :-\

try doing some exercising, it can be cheap or free, and it does good for you. try lifting weights, running, bike riding, or sports. wrap your ankles with athletic tape.
Follow sports, and teams. I luv baseball, football, and basketball. I'm really into baseball and football, and I try to watch as many games as possible. On tuesday I went to my first A's game of the year against the yankees. to me man there ain't nothing better than tailgatting in a parking lot of a baseball game and getting fucked up, then goin in the ballpark. Plus its good for conversations.
try thinking of skills you have, where you can earn income on the side. I don't have a job right now, but I just move people, and I make a decent amount of money, especially for the time involved.

Deepen yourself in a subject that interests you.
Set yourself some goals in life,for example:
Stay involved with all kinds of actual things. A debating club might be a great thing because it keeps you alert,it opens your mind to other's opinion and you can get the drive to shut that irritating person with the wrong opinions up once and for all. Also,it can gain you respect and status within this club wich might be a good drive as well. But the most important thing is it keeps you alert and prevents you from going intellectually dormant and this might make your life less boring.

Prayers peformed at the mosque in the company of brothers are even more dear in the sight of Allah because then the believers hearts become one, one in submission to One God, who we ascribe no partners to, the Arabic word for Creator is Allah.
Music and entertainment can only hold your attention for so long. The life of this world is glamurous and fleeting, it catches your eye and briefly holds your attention but has no real value. Once you become a slave or servant to Allah you begin biulding your paradise for the hereafter.Islam is a program, not a slogan, so as that one can elevate their mind, body and spirit through submission to the Creator, the most high. You must put your life in order.
You mentioned travelling and coming back with nothing. Part of the training in Islam is that one gets what he traveled for. If you travel for the sake of Allah to perform Hajj or pilgrimage to Mekkah than he will reward you with a cleansing of spirit and a cleansing of sins. You will see people from all over the globe coming together from far distances to glorify the creator. This is mankind in their most righteous state of submission to Allah.

i find that when i get bored i tend to smoke green which in turns makes me antisocial (can't go for a drink, can't hold conversations well, forgetfulness etc.) so i try not to smoke all the time cos it fucks with my life i lose all motivation with it around too which sucks. but often then i'll be stuck with shit tv to watch so i don't, no books to read cos i've read them all the ones i got and havn't seen anything that interests me recently, get bored of the computer after an hour so unless i'm doing something with a friend i get bored very quickly so i do alot of thinking i just wish i could make more of my life. well maybe that will change when i get a job for my placement year of university, i sure hope it does cos i havn't really been happy for the last 3 or 4 years.

Be outgoing and fuck your girlfriend like theres no tommorow, live like there is no tommorow. Dont be bored, be yourself but with no regrets, no antagonistic views unless in friendly jest. BE HAPPY. Yo, I love life man..I always find going on a road trip with ya boys to somewhere dope is fun. Even in the car on the way there we just act a fool and just laugh and shit. I see my girlfriend almost everyday and have a good relationship with her.. I follow sports especially football. Lift.Box. you name it.I got hobbies like car audio and customizing cars.I love that shit. I don't see how people can be so bored and have that outlook like there is absolutly nothing unless you aint got nothin....There is a million things to do. For example me and my boys we're just sittin around and we decided to go to Manhatten for the night which is about close to a 3 hour drive.
My parents make about 60,000 grand a year combined and I work for 6.75 an hour part time. Yet I still love life. Proves that money aint shit but an object.

you do not understand the northeast tho...It costs over 100,000 grand for a trailor. anywhere else its like 20,000....Its one of the most expensive places to live.The cost over everything is higher.

And I like where i live why would I move. There is so much to do up here. Look at it this way. Start from NYC another 3 hours on 95 your in Providence another half hour your in Boston. There is alot of shit to do. Just around me. If I wanna see a baseball game,I live across the street from a the huge AAA red sox stadium. If i wanna go to the beach I drive for about 15 minutes. If I wanna go shopping there is literally 4 huge malls and literally 100's of stores, best buy, circuit city within 10 minutes of me.
If I want to have a nice quiet day I will drive up to New Hampshire which takes bout an hour and a half. If I want to go drag racing I can at the Drag races at the race track. Where they let cars of the street and drag. etc.
That all could have something to do with me not being so bored.lol

well everyone, thanks for the replies.....i think everyone goes through these 'funks' in life and gets really lazy until they figure out the next thing to do. i know it's happened to me before and i'm sure it'll happen again......
things have started looking up a bit. i've been getting a lot of good feedback at my new job, and i'm learning a lot there. i'm starting to go out every day after work and just walking around new york. i been buying rare shoes out here and selling them on ebay for twice what i bought them for....i've been finding things to do. and yes, to live in new york, it is ridiculously expensive. i don't live with my parents, or anyone for that matter, and have to pay all my bills by myself so money is essential to live. i'm not bitching about new york like i don't like it, i'm bitching because it's so goddam expensive.
and for the guy who explained islam to us.....thanks for taking the time and passion to write that, but i gotta say that it's bullshit to me. i used to be very int christianity and i've come to my own truth. it's not really a choice anymore. it just is. and that's what i think you 'evangelists' need to realize about religion - for some people it works, and for some people it doesn't. think about it for a minute. imagine that everyone in this world converted to your religion. it wouldn't work. society would almost stop. you'd have pure anarchy.....but i think it's good that you have passion in something. it just doesn't work for some people. realize it. accept it. that's why people in here don't agree with you, cuz you're trying to push something on people that don't want it.....
anyways, for those of you that had to brag about how great your life is, fuck you. post somewhere else. this thread wasn't meant for you to sit there and judge how i'm such a boring person because you like something and do something that i dont. and don't sit there and try to tell me that you don't get upset and bored at times. it's a part of life homie

now New York, HELL FUCKIN YEAH ITS EXPENSIVE!!!, insanely expensive, its 14.99 for a 6pack of beer, and like you said 6 bucks for milk, well i dont know about anyone else but a 6pack of beer is like 6 bucks here in cali. Everything there is expensive, but hey, go and buy your groceries in brooklyn dude. its only a couple trains down. But i think that like mose people in NY you got to sacrafice some things for living in such a crazy and dope environment, i mean seriously, theres no where else in world like that place and the energy and vibe is so different.
I mean, you can so easily entertain yourself in that town, and if you dont know how wait until this summer and we'll get it crackin, cuz im comin to live there for a month or so over the summer.
