Title: Warren G- I Want It All
Post by: AlerG on July 31, 2001, 04:19:33 PM
Warren G- I Want It All
Released In 1999 On Restless Records

Warren G's Third Solo Release After the multi-platinum regulate and the very underrated and poor distributioned reality "take a look over your shoulder".

1. Intro- after hearing this beginning you have to question what is headed, hmmm, good or bad.

2. Gangsta Love (Feat. Kurupt, Nate Dogg & Rbx)- well if you think that warren g might've lost his g-funk touch than you are wrong cause this shit is g-funk at it's finest. with an good appearance by nate dogg as usual and kurupt is on point this song sounds pretty tight. warren and rbx even sound good on this one, not classic but strong. 4/5

3. Why Oh Why (Feat. Daz & Kurupt)- here is another real g-funk track and it sound like daz added a little touch to it to make it a tight beat. all three sound good as they coast over this beat well. although i do think that warren could've sounded better, he isn't the greatest emcee out there anyway, cool hook to this one by daz as well. 4/5

4. Dollars Make Sense (Feat. Kurupt & Crucial Conflict)- the beat is questionable for a warren cd. it sounds like it needs a fast flow to it and warren cannot provide so it doesn't fit very well. crucial conflict who have that fast flow don't sound that good mainly because of the annoyance of their voices, the hook isn't good at all either. 2.5/5

5. I Want It All (Feat. Mack 10)- well most of yall know this as the song that made the cd what it was because we really didn't see any other singles off this cd. the beat is laid back and tight but the lyrics and hook are not that good mainly because he's talking about all that money and ice shit. mack 10 doesn't impress on this song expecially when i look back at it now because he was promoting his lable which doesn't exist now and he is a part of cash money. the song was catchy and i'll give it that but it becomes boring fast. 3.5/5

6. Havin' Things (Feat. JD & Nate Dogg)- this beat sounds very JD influenced but it isn't all that bad but it isn't great at the same time though. the lyrics are basically only about havin' things. the hook with nate on it is surpriseingly uncreative and lacks dopeness considering nate's on it. nate does have a decent verse which somewhat makes up for his chorus. JD is the highlight of the song so that should tell you something. 2.5/5

7. You Never Know (Feat. Snoop, Phats Bossi & Reel Tight)- i really hate this beat and can't listen to this track. i honestly think it sucks and shouldn't deserve to even be put on a cash money cd. nothing can save this song, snoop is lazy, nothing good to say, ill leave it at that. 1.5/5

8. My Momma (Ola Mae)- for a dedication to his mom. should of been left off the cd because well it sucks. the hook is one of the most annoying sounds i've ever heard and this is a must skip track. i think i've only listened through this song twice before. 1.5/5

9. G Spot- well we get back to the g-funk. although this song isn't the greatest it does pick the cd back up from the horrible slump it was going through after an awesome start. the beat is very reminissant of the beat from "what's love got to do with it" off his second cd. i've thought that since i first heard it. it's a good song with a decent hook and a g-funk sound so i usually listen to this song when i play this cd. 3/5

10. We Got That (Feat. Eve, Drag-On & Shadow)- i'm not a big ruff ryders fan but this song is covered in rr's and it's a dope song. this shit is raw and could've been made a single on a rr compilation which makes me wonder why this was on warren's cd because the beat even sounds rr dominated with a little touch of warren g. . 4/5

11. Dope Beat- Well the hook starts the song and it makes me want to turn the song right off the bat but if you listen through it you will find there is some decent but not great g-funk after. the beat is pretty tight and his lyrics are decent but good for warren. this song is alright. 3/5

12. World Wide Ryders (Feat. Neb Love, K-Bar)- This song definately is g-funk and it's pretty tight. the hook it's catchy and tight. Neb Love sucks and ruins the song wherever she's at. but it's still a song that deserves to be listened to. a smoking a joint type of song, or a song you listen to in the ride late at night. 3.5/5

13. Game Don't Wait (Feat. Nate Dogg & Snoop)- the return of 213 but it isn't an awesome track. nate dogg is tight as hell though. the remix to this track which wasn't included on this cd was classic. i think if it was included this cd would've sold alot better. you can't even compare this song to the remix because the original isn't that great. it's g-funk though. 3/5

14. If We Give You A Chance (Feat. Slick Rick & Phat Bossi)- it's an alright song but you can tell that you are getting near to the end of the cd and you almost want it to end because at this point you're disappointed in what you have purchased. there are no real highlights to this song besides slick rick who is tight as usual. 3/5

15. I Want It All Remix (Feat. Memphis Bleek, Drag-On & Tikki Diamond)- bad song, doesn't belong on a warren g cd. i don't want to review this track. 2/5

16. Outro- Thank God it's over.

well this cd started off looking like it might have the potential to be a classic with the first two songs and then headed downhill from there. the lack of dope tracks and g-funk that you can feel like regulate makes this cd a bore and a skip most the songs type of deal. personally i was a huge warren g fan during his first two cds and this cd turned me off towards him. whether or not he releases another cd doesn't really matter to me because this cd was a disappointment and a let down. track 10 we got that is in the top 3 best songs on the cd and it's smothered in ruff ryders and warren don't even rap on it. i want it all remix is pointless and upsetting. and what made me real pissed is that they didn't put the game don't wait remix on here which would've been the highlight of the cd. i give this cd about a 5.5/10.

what's up with a 5.5, that's what it deserved. if you give it any higher than a 6 than you are lying. that album had no affect on rap whatsoever, it didn't change the game, it didn't sell, it didn't make warren g look like the dude that came out with regulate g funk era in 94, it didn't have a classic song on the whole cd, his lyrics were shitty, the featurings were from peeps that i couldn't believe were placed on a warren g cd, including two tracks that had nothing to do with warren, too many wack songs, too many times you wanna skip through songs and get the cd over with, didn't get rotation in my cd player for longer than a week, wasn't g-funk enough, no twinz, where was the dove shack, it seemed like the cd was rushed, no promotion becuase it didn't deserve it, is that enough reasons. this cd was bad, it came out around 2001 and streetz time so it made it even look worse. what is good with this cd besides songs 2,3?  , peace.

AlerG "his lyrics were shitty"

i don't think peeps are looking for lyrical genius when they by a Warren G. album. all his albums have shitty lyrics.

Regulate was a CLASSIC but it had shitty lyrics. just as bad as this one.

IM SO FRUSTRATED I CAN HARDLY BREATHE. When you said that Gangsta Love and Why Oh Why were ‘not enuff Gfunk’ or something like that, I thought Well, the guy is a hater, and he don’t know shit about Gfunk, so what. But when you gave Ola Mae, a very thoughtful track produced by one of the dopest producers in the world Soopafly, a 1,5, I said FUCK THAT he’s just a schizophrenic.

So what I’m saying now to AlerG is FUCK YOU DUMB BITCH!!! I NEVER SEEN SUCH A STUPID HATER AMONG RAP FANS!!! YOU ACT LIKE A 12-YEAROLD THRASH FAN THAT THINKS THAT DR.DRE IS SOMEBODY FROM CASH MONEY CREW AND THAT LIMP BIZKIT IS THE HARDEST RAP GRUP! YOU DON’T KNOW A MILLIMETRIC STINKIN PIECE OF PIG SHIT ABOUT HIP HOP!!!

FUCK YOU AND YOUR MUSICAL TASTES!!! YOU RETARDED FAKE BITCH!!!!!!

I never thought anybody would drive me so mad. I aint been so mad for like half a year. Damn.

AlerG never had much respect on these boards, now its safe to say he has none.  3 of the hottest tracks on the album are "Dollaz make sense", "You Never Know", and "Havin Thangs" and you dissed them all.  LOL--Oh well-Youre the one that has to live with yourself and your bad taste in music.

Remember Kurupt - Streetz Is A Mutha

that did nothing to the rap industry, yet it is a classic... yes, a classic....

shit.....a clasic doesn"t have to be an album dat shakes tha whole industry........i mean....many clasicz did that but it doesnt mean itz a rule or somethin like dat.....eample:
"makaveli tha dk"....considered by many hip hop fanz as a clasic....but tha media fuckin trashed it back when it droped...
and still would easily trash it.....
warrenz "i want it all".....waz one great westcoast... g-funk...piece....yea a clasic in many pipz" opinionz......so fuck all tha hatin...warren iz one of tha best g-funk poducers...and althoug he had a dissaponitin piece like "take a look.."...he hit back wit dis calssic shit...
jus like dre wit hiz"..presents tha aftermath"...he wanted to try a dif aproach....witch didnt go well...but still came back wit a clasic....

A lot of people think it's a classic album because it sold so many copies.  That doesn't make it a classic, but it's a very good album, with classic songs.

I'd Say It's More Like

1. Intro- 4/5
2. Gangsta Love (Feat. Kurupt, Nate Dogg & Rbx)- 4.5/5
3. Why Oh Why (Feat. Daz & Kurupt)- 4/5
4. Dollars Make Sense (Feat. Kurupt & Crucial Conflict)- 3.5/5 (I loved crucial conflict)
5. I Want It All (Feat. Mack 10)- 4.5/5 (*almost classic now)
6. Havin' Things (Feat. JD & Nate Dogg)- 4/5 (I liked it, sorry)
7. You Never Know (Feat. Snoop, Phats Bossi & Reel Tight)- 3.5/5 Phats Bossi Is SO Tight On This.
8. My Momma (Ola Mae)- 2.5/5, I don't like the hook at all
9. G Spot- 4/5 Good G Funk Music
10. We Got That (Feat. Eve, Drag-On & Shadow)- 4/5, Actuall A Good RR Song
11. Dope Beat- 4/5 Awesome Hook.
12. World Wide Ryders (Feat. Neb Love, K-Bar)- 3.5/5
13. Game Don't Wait (Feat. Nate Dogg & Snoop)- 4/5 Nice
14. If We Give You A Chance (Feat. Slick Rick & Phat Bossi)- 4.5/5, I Love The Hook, I Always Sing It
15. I Want It All Remix (Feat. Memphis Bleek, Drag-On & Tikki Diamond)- 3.5/5 I Actually Liked The Remix.  It Was Good, Becuase It Was So Different From The O.G... Plus Warren did The HOok, Instead Of Mack 10... Interesting. Album 8.5/10, My Fav. Warren Album.

Warren G
"I Want It All"

1.  Intro - Short skit about the evolution of G-Funk.

2.  Gangsta Love - (featuring Kurupt, RBX & Nate Dogg) -   "Call me/Dub, A/Double R, E/N be the N/Last letter be the G/G be for Griffen/Smiffen like Wesson/Niggas that be fessin/I'm crushin ya whole chest in."  Warren hits us hard with this laid back, classic Warren G melody setting the mood for the whole album.  His long time partner, Nate Dogg blows it up with his contributed harmonies.  RBX also fits in well over the slow groove.   4/5 dubs

3.  Why Oh Why - (featuring D.P.G.) -  D-A-Z starts off with a dope verse.  This is a song about the consequences of being a gangsta.  Warren has a nice verse over one of his own beats.  Kurupt's verse looses focus and tail spins into nothing.  Overall, a good track.  4/5 dubs

4.  Dollars Make Sense - (featuring Kurupt, Crucial Conflict & Reel Tight) -  Nice, beat with a little retro feel to it.  G-Dub starts things off with a dope, uncanny verse; rhymin at a fast pace.  I love the hook by Reel Tight.  Crucial Conflict add an extra spark to this joint.  Kurupt only talks in the beginning.  4/5 dubs

5.  I Want It All - (featuring Mack 10) -  A great song period.  Best beat on the album, with classic horns and steady piano keys.  The hook done by Warren is very original too.  This was the first single, with a tight Mack 10 appearance  Probably the last dope verse of his life.  4.5/5 dubs

6.  Havin' Thangs - (featuring Jermaine Dupri & Nate Dogg) -  One of my favorites joints this album has to offer.  I could care less of J.D., but this is still a great song.  Nate Dogg really shines with his powerfull vocals, "Chase ya dough...nooooow/Don't sell ya soul...nooooow/Do whatcha feeeeeel, yeah/Keep It real."  Warren provides a strong verse too.  This was the third single that went unoticed.  4.5/5

7.  You Never Know - (featuring Snoop Dogg, Phat Bossi & Reel Tight) -  An inspiring song fueled mainly by the Reel Tight hook, haha.  Another great G-Funk beat with longtime homie Snoop Dogg rappin by Warren's side.  The raps are pretty straight forward, nothin great.  People will probably like this song for it's beat and hook.  Good enough for me.  4.5/5 dubs.

8.  My Momma (Ola Mae) -  Soopafly handles the beat for this one so Warren can send a dedication to his who mother who had passed away.  Not a song I play a lot, the chorus is repetitive so it's hard to like.  3/5 dubs

9.  G-Spot - (featuring El DeBarge & Val "Lady V" Young) -  Stands as one of the best songs on this album that features 2 incredible singers.  They bring it proper with their parts.  You couldn't ask for more.  The nice, slow beat fits the hook and Warren's cool, relaxing flow for the ladies.  "She use to tell me that she loved me/All the time/I turn to her/And say that I'm/Infatuated/Concentrated on cuttin it up/Body bustin out yo blouse don't button it up."  4.5/5 dubs

10.  We Got That - (featuring Eve, Drag-On & Shadow) -  This is were the album slips a bit.  The track seems very much out of place with the Ruff Ryder camp hookin up with Warren G.  I think this was to sell records though.  Warren did not lace this beat, and again, it doesn't fit the flow of the album.  3/5 dubs

11.  Dope Beat -  A very smooth, classic G-Funk feel.  G-Dub comes with the simple rhymes about his come up from 213 up intil now.  Only song here with Warren spittin all verses, doing the hook and producing the beat.  3.5/5 dubs

12.  World Wide Riders - (featuring Neb Love & K-Bar) -  Two members of The 5 Footaz use this mellowed out beat to just expose themselves to the rap world.  It's really their song, Warren G just lets them do their own thang.  Nothing special from them.  3.5/5 dubs

13.  Game Don't Wait - (featuring Snoop Dogg & Nate Dogg) -  This is the original version recorded in early '98.  I definitely prefer the Dr. Dre remix.  This version has a weak beat, and verse from both Snoop & Warren.  Nate gets boring with his deep chorus that plays over and over in your head.  3.5/5 dubs

14.  If We Give You A Chance - (featuring Slick Rick, Phat Bossi & Val "Lady V" Young) -  Two O.G.'s Slick Rick and Warren G blend pefectly together along with more pleasant vocals from Val Young.  A great song about the two hittin up the streets of NYC in the late night.  Another beat that is meant to just relax your mind and let your conscious be free.  4.5/5 dubs

15.  I Want It All Remix - (featuring Memphis Bleek, Drag-On & Tikki Diamond) -  Album ends on a bad note, second song that doesn't belong on this CD.  More rappers Warren shouldn't be hookin up with.  This isn't a Warren G production either, Vada Nobles produced it.  2.5/5 dubs

I had to do this quick review to show the people who hate on this album, that it stands as one of the best West coast records since the rebirth of this left coast hip-hop.  Warren evolves with this album rappin about more mature themes over more reserved, r&b rhythms.  Many people aren't feelin the vibe the album has to offer, but that's because they hate on the smoother, more soulful shit.  Warren always put it down like that, what's the problem?  Yeah, G-Dub's rhymes have slipped back a lil compared to what he use to flip back in '94.  That's another reason, but I seem to not really notice it cause he makes it up with the ill hooks and beats.  People have trouble accepting the Ruff Ryder appearances, I do too, but that doesn't ruin the whole album.  This CD starts off strong, about halfway through the album, some flaws pop up.  It doesn't have a strong finish, but there are enough dope joints.  I love the overall mood to this album, Warren keeps a good overall flow intact for it.  Some songs that should have been left out; "We Got That" and the "I Want It All" Remix.  Warren gives us those tight gangsta ballads only he can give us like, "G Spot" and "You Never Know."  He produces the whole album except for 3 songs.  Warren tried to make up for his lack of rhymes at times with loads of guest rappers.  It seems to me Eve and Memphis Bleek were commercial stunts.  With "Return Of The Regulator" on the horizon, Warren G vows more Warren G, as a rapper and producer.  Look for him to do the whole album with the exception of Soopafly and his older bother, Dr. Dre, doing a track each.  Guests are toned down this time as well.  Responses have been great so far, could this rank passed "I Want It All" and "Take A Look Over My Shoulder?"  I hope so.  For this album, more reserved Warren G music.  He lives up to the G-Funk title with songs like, "Gangsta Love," "Why Oh Why," "I Want It All," and "G-Spot."  Great album to just push play and fall back to.  8/10 dubs

This album is not classic but its definitely not garbage >:(
Warren was just following the trend of having a million guest on the cd. This cd is dope though, some songs like Dope Beat,Gangsta Love are straight out G Funk

Its a damned good thing Warren had so many guest spots because Warren isnt exactly Rakim on the mic.  But-I think this CD is DAMNED good and I seriously find it hard that any hip hop fan could listen to this and not enjoy it.

Name:  Warren G
Album:  "I Want It All"
Released:  October 12th, 1999
Category:  West Coast, G-Funk
Rating:  4/5

5. I Want It All - (featuring Mack 10) - A great song period. Best beat on the album, with classic horns and steady piano keys. The hook done by Warren is very original too. This was the first single, with a tight Mack 10 appearance Probably the last dope verse of his life. 4.5/5

8. My Momma (Ola Mae) - Soopafly handles the beat for this one so Warren can send a dedication to his who mother who had passed away. Not a song I play a lot, the chorus is repetitive so it's hard to like. 3/5

"She use to tell me that she loved me/All the time/I turn to her/And say that I'm/Infatuated/Concentrated on cuttin it up/Body bustin out yo blouse don't button it up." 4.5/5

11. Dope Beat - A very smooth, classic G-Funk feel. G-Dub comes with the simple rhymes about his come up from 213 up intil now. Only song here with Warren spittin all verses, doing the hook and producing the beat. 3.5/5

12. World Wide Riders - (featuring Neb Love & K-Bar) - Two members of The 5 Footaz use this mellowed out beat to just expose themselves to the rap world. It's really their song, Warren G just lets them do their own thang. Nothing special from them. 3.5/5
