Title: A Collection of Reasons to Vote Kerry/Edwards
Post by: Ant on October 25, 2004, 09:50:48 AM
To date 40 newspapers have "flip-flopped" and decided to endorse Kerry after endorsing Bush in 2000.  Kerry has won a large number of very impressive endorsments including The Economist, The New Yorker, The Washington Post, The New York Times, & The American Conservative.  You can read most of the endorsements below:

It's incredible that Bush still has a very good chance of winning the election. I don't get how a President can be possibly considered after such a term. Really, unbelieveable.

Saw a study today, that said 6 out of 10 stories on Pres. Bush in the media are negative.... compared with 1 out of 4 for John Kerry.

60% to 25%.  Bias? NAHHHH

What if that study in itself was biased?

Yes I saw the same story.  Conservatives are latching on to it to have some way to make themselves feel better.  It's not a bias when you report the truth.  The fact that bad news about Bush exists doesn't make the media biased, it means Bush is bad for America.

Conservative Logic 101:  The media is posting a lot of bad stories about Bush.  The media is not posting as many bad stories about Kerry.  Therefore, the media is biased.  Therefore, the bad stories about Bush are probably untrue.

Title: Cherie Blair Speaks Out Against Bush
Post by: Ant on October 31, 2004, 01:10:44 AM
Tony Blair's Wife shared her thoughts on the Bush Administration today.  While not amazingly harsh in her criticism it is slightly disturbing when our strongest ally is beginning voice criticism.  A recent poll said only 24% of the UK wants Bush re-elected.  I really have a hard time understanding how we intend to conduct effective foreign policy when we are viewed by many negatively and gradually losing support from the few allies we have left.

I don't care what Cherie Blair thinks of GWB.  The point I was making is that we have only one strong ally left today: Great Britian.  Yesterday the British Prime Minister's Wife became vocal about her criticism of Bush.  Recently a poll shows that under 30% of the British Population wants GWB re-elected.  Are you really prepared to live in a world where the U.S. is opposed by almost every country in the world?  Do you really think it makes you safer at home to have no alllies in the world?

The war on terrorism is in some ways a war on ideas.  Disturbingly people in EUROPEAN countries are begining to empathize with the terrorists.  You might see Abu Graib and say "fuck those towel head bastards" but other people see it and say "GWB let this happen, and no one was reprimanded for it."  If the U.K. decides not to support the U.S. who is left that will?

Maybe we will still have Poland.

I guess. I would think that a discussion would be debating both sides instead of "reasons" to vote Kerry. There's no real discussion going on here.

I disagree, Bush keeps the faggots in check. More than I can say for Kerry. Either than that, I can't see another reason to vote him. One day I hope America finally fucks the Democrats and Republicans off and makes way for new parties.

Are you slow?  This post was about the U.S. losing its allies.  It doesn't matter what the PM's wife think, what matters is that the U.S. is slowly losing support from the U.K.  I cited the PM's wife as evidence of that.  You might not care what she thinks, but what are you going to say when we no longer have the U.K. as a strong ally.  "I don't care what the PM's wife thinks."

The reason you think "my rebuttals never add anything new" is because I don't think you ever read or understand my argument in the first place.

Because it's true

So are you saying that if journalists were writing about Hitler and Mother Theresa, it should be split down the middle positive/negative?

Newspapers should report the truth.

The truth is Kerry is a good man and a strong leader, while Bush is a poor leader and a weak man.

Number of terrorist attacks on American soil under every President from Washington to Clinton = 0.

Number of terrorist attacks on American soil under President George W. Bush = 1.

A vote for Bush endangers America.
