Title: Can someone tell me what an ADVANCE actually is?
Post by: Bomb-AŽ on September 19, 2002, 12:34:52 AM
What is an advance copy.

Are the versions of the track on the advance the same as they will be on the retail?

Are the tracks complete & in good quality?

Coz i was thinkin of d/l the xzibit album since it wont come out in india.

Should i download the advance or just wait for it to release????

PLEASE REPLY :)

well, it can mean two things

1 - unfinished copy, rough cuts, not mixed etc
2 - finished copy, mixed properly etc, a week or so away from comin onto the shelves in the store..

you get the drift..

usually "advance" is used when the ripper doesnt no for certain it is the retail...usually there  is a couple of tracks missing or a older track that wont be on the retail or mixed up order.

In regards to the esc advance of xzibit ive heard that esc label their releases advance if they dont have the cover scans (its their policy i think just so they dont get caught out). This is why alot of esc rips end up being retail even tho labeled advance. I think this is the case for the xzibit release i.e. Xzibit (advance)-esc = Xzibit (RETAIL)
