Title: Car Audio people help.......
Post by: So Much Style on February 05, 2005, 07:35:32 AM
I got a 1985 porsche (fairly small, sporty car) and i got 3 Jl Audio 10" W3's in a decent sized box. The Car Audio store here suggested that i take out the backseats and sit the box right there (the back seats are worthless and too small for anyone to sit anyway) and i think im gonna do that.....but i was wondering what would be the ideal amp for these 3 w3's ?  I hear the Jl Audio 500/1 is the one i should go with , but that is expensive and a bunch of people tell me the 300/2 would work just as good for a cheaper price. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

each sub has an rms of 300 watts so id prob go with a 1000/1. the 500/1 will underpower those subs, especially if you are iin a sealed enclosure. what is your budget for an amp? i can recommend amps that can power those subs for a lot cheaper then a jl amp. considering that the 1000/1 will run you around $1000. And are your subs dual 4 or dual 2?

yeh. car audio is a bitch. i had 2 jl 500/1's and they got jacked. each was like $600. nice amps tho. but for $1200 i can get 2 orion 2500 watt amps that have good enough xo's and get the job done fine. thats why iw ont buy jl anymore, because imo they overpriced. plus im a bum.  ;D
