Title: These islands are crazy !!
Post by: Jome on March 21, 2005, 03:15:32 PM: This shit looks crazy, these islands outside Dubai are popping up like crazy, they're gonna have more than 300 different islands when they're done, each with a lot of properties, houses, shops, beaches, etc. and it will look like the world map from above, it's gonna be viewable from outer space and the moon..
Their ambition is to beat Las Vegas on the entertainment front, the whole project will cost at least $14 billion.
Many people think it will end up as "The 8th wonder of the world"...

The biggest of the "Palm Islands" is called Palm Deira, and 4500 of 7000 properties is already sold.
If you wanna buy one of the smaller islands, prices range from $7.5 million to more than $35 million.

This hotel will never make money, it's too expensive and got too much staff to ever make money.
Every room got plasma-TV's, 755 in all, rooms up to $15.000 a night, the hotel got 140 elevators, 20 different restaurants, 20 different stores selling Rolex's, perfume, etc. several swimming pools, beaches, each guest get their own personal butler, etc.

Total hotel cost: $4 billion.
20.000 people worked on the hotel for 4 years.
2600 people work at the hotel, that's an average of 4 for every guest..
