Title: Are we all destined for greatness?
Post by: Dogg_Pound_Gangsta on July 11, 2005, 09:47:02 PM
I wanna know what your feelings on this subject are. Are we meant to achieve great things and be the best people we can be or are some people just meant to succeed.  Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Dexter Yager, you and I all have 24 hours in a day, so how can some people achieve more.  I believe it all starts with a dream.  something that burns so deep in everybody, but some people just have more desire to go and get it.  you can't wait for things to happen, you have to make things happen.  what are your thoughts?

If you don't grind, you don't shine.

were not all destined for greatness.  i am, but people like acgrundy, and realz, are destined to work for people of greatness.  i will become great, but the little people like them will help me along the way.

I give the responsibility directly to the individual, I think Donald Trump was born a normal boy and through hard work (by him and his parents and people he came into contact with) became Great.  I think anybody can be great.

^^Yup, it just takes hard work and determination, or if u have a dream, the balls to go out and try to do it, at least do that, which reminds me of a good song

Pigeon John - Deception
[Intro]
Shake it off. Lord, I won't do this song
This is a fight with myself
I wanna gain much wealth
I wanna live by myself
But I'm surrounded by..
I'll keep that to myself
I'm so stupid

[Verse]
Well hello my little friends and look at them run
I'm still at home with no ends and look at them run
Hopping in a tricked out Benz and look at them run
While I'm clocking in as a temp look at them run
It is too late now to affect the whole world, or is it just dated now?
They could care less who invaded now
Really am I silly with the dreams of the milli'?
Top billing with a big fat record deal-ly
First I buy a house way up on the hill-ly
Then I get a girly dressed like Mr. Furley
Met her in Nashville or was it Philly?
Her hair so curly and look at me burly
But my dream deferred, I felt the same words that Langston heard
I watched them pass and it seemed absurd
A decade of dreaming
And it seeming that they just run away with my verbs
And its..

[CHORUS]
Deception. Look at them dancing in the field goal
Deception. I look at me and I'm getting old
Deception. How many records have I really sold?
Deception. Whoops I did it again boy. (2X)

[Verse]
Ten years ago I woke up with a dream in my hand
Ran for a couple of yards, but tripped and fell to my hands
And then got up because the Lord Almighty told me He can
Ran for a couple of more, and tripped and fumbled again
And people asking what you getting up for go get a job
but I gotta carry out this dream or my life I rob
And when I'm gonna work for 45 years up in the mall
And when I'm old and gray wondering where's my calling?
And I'd rather die now than never wonder how
Never ever try now
Coulda' woulda' shoulda' will be
All I sigh how Can I live a mediocre
Life and not ever ask you why
Are we hear specifically not mundane
But a gifted people
We must shine and it must be equal
Live your life cause there is no sequel
Oh it's a reception

[CHORUS]

[Bridge]
Hey, Hey, wait I'm called to do something
I don't know exactly what it is but I'm hunting
Getting lost in this record biz and I'm fumbling
Oops I did it again boy
(REPEAT)

[CHORUS] (2x)

First things first, Allah is the first, the last, the eternal absolute, and nothing is greater than Allah, nothing is higher than Allah, and nothing is more worthy of worship and praise than Allah.

Second of all greatness is not based on how much money you make.  But greatness is based upon the criteria that Allah has revealed to his Prophets and Messengers since the beggining of mankind, to worship Allah and do righteous good deeds.  Greatness is achieved not in money or material wealth, because if Allah wills it he can make a man derive the full benefit out of a minimum wage salary or he can cause the billionaire to use every dollar as a means to his own destruction.

What made the Prophets great was that they had the full realization of who really was the greatest in all actuality and that is Allah.  It was their submission, their slavery, and their obedience to Allah, that made the Prophets the greatest men to walk the face of the Earth.  And the truly great people of today are the ones who realize in actuality they are not great, but it is only in their ability to do good deeds, and their mindfullness of the greatness of Allah that they can achieve greatness, when you become a friend of Allah then Allah, the one who created greatness, can give of that greatness which only he created because he is the Lord of All the Worlds and All conditions and All the systems of knowledge.

it seems to me that the people who rely on old crumbling institutions like going to school and getting a good job doesnt work anymore.  lots of successful people learned everything in the school of hard knocks, not a university.

The possibilities are endless for everyone. Some people are placed in better situations of course, but we can all succeed if we work our asses off and if we got a little luck.

it doesnt matter where you come from all that matters is where you are goin, just because you grow up in the ghetto doesnt mean you cant be a positive, successful role model.  ask any successful person they make their own luck.  i think people just wanna blame their laziness on their situation or where they came from.  if people really want to change then they can.  its just a decision away

I dunno man. A kid in Africa living in some slum where he may not even receive an education or kno whow to read/write may not have much of a decision when he needs to pitch in to keep his family fed and clothed. I see what your saying, but for some people, the have a stacked deck to the fullest.

ofcourse you can get lucky and make it big... but waiting around for something to happen wont necessarily get you there...

most rappers made it big for no reason, but if you want to make it big in the REAL world, then you have to work hard for it.

Only people who are willing to get up and do something will make it, and once they make it they can never become lazy or they will find themselves slipping.

To put it in a rap context, Jay Z didnt give up until he got what he wanted and now he is a millionaire. Then there is the guys who get lucky, who never make it far past one album because they think they will just keep rolling the money in no matter what.

i agree with that man but anybody not living in a 3rd world country has the same chance as all the rich people to make it.

Yeah, lol on the news tonight, they started with this tagline "A local town turns off the light of God"

I mean, could you TRY and make a more negative tagline than that?

Hey, I got an idea, lets do Trauma's usual 'Go jack the headlines from CNN.com and see if there's any GOOD news" day.

Haven't done this in a while, but just to prove the point.

Top story is about the bombings in London - NEGATIVE
"Emily arrives in Winward Islands - story about a hurricane - NEGATIVE
"Beware Hurricane Cars" - story about how people sell cars that have been flooded - NEGATIVE
"NASA scrubs launch" - story about how the shuttle fell apart - NEGATIVE
"Ebbers gets long sentence" - story about some rich guy fucking over poor people - NEGATIVE
"Bush: No comment on Rove" - this one strangely has been on there for 4 days.  story about Carl Rove leaking classified info and ruining some woman's career - NEGATIVE
"Chief Justice Rehnquist hospitalized" - story about supreme court justice who's apparently dying - NEGATIVE
"Poll shows support for new female justice" - POSITIVE! YAY!
"Mostly Children killed in Iraq bombing" - NEGATIVE (and then, hilariously, next to it, "GALLERY")
"Brad Pitt treated for Menangitis" - Story about Pitt being sick.  - NEGATIVE

There ya have it folks, 90% of the world is falling apart.

The people with a dream, faith in Allah (or any other god/gods you belive in) and the right directions in life will most-certainly be destined for greatness. But the you have the people with the "middle class state of mind", who's life goal is to work two-three jobs, by the knew hummer, get a house and follow a daily rutine for the rest of their llife. There is nothing wrong with that if that is your goal, but it is these people who are always counting the small things such as wealth, or simple materials you do, or do not possess.

Real talk. I guess 50 Cent described it right with "get rich or die trying".

Fuck no, I didn't just bring 50 into this thread.  :monkey_piss:

But on the real, I don't really believe in a stated destiny, but I do think anyone who REALLY wants to archieve something, should be able to get it. Of course unless you're talking about running the olympic 100m in 9 seconds, when you only have one leg. Not gonna happen. Other than that, you should pretty much be able to do anything you really put your mind to.

So what are you waiting for! Get moving, people!

I believe everyone is destined to be something..for example...one man was destined to be a bum, another man destined to be rapper,
or maybe a woman is destined to work.. I believe what feels right is what we destined for...

i'm sure some bums are happy to be bums. most of them choose their life, they couldnt live how they live unless theyre bums, how many people you know can support full-time drinking, a job and a mortgage ?

p.S: i find it funny how you put my quote in your sig.

heres another for you:
donkey balls are tasty when cooked at 80 degrees celcius in bean and sprout salsa...

They "choose" their life because of the choices they've made in the past, not because they want to be bums living on the street with no food, shelter, or money. Mortgage? Did you just fuckin say mortgage?  LMFAOOOOOOOOO... seriously I didn't even think people as dumb as you even existed.

i dont get how you couldnt understand why i said they "choose" their life... they dont sit down one day and go yeah im a bum... but you are what you eat, you have choices in your life that lead to the future.
