Over the last three decades, Dr. Miller has regularly surveyed his fellow citizens for clients as diverse as the National Science Foundation, European government agencies and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. People who track Americans' attitudes toward science routinely cite his deep knowledge and long track record.
...
Dr. Miller's data reveal some yawning gaps in basic knowledge. American adults in general do not understand what molecules are (other than that they are really small). Fewer than a third can identify DNA as a key to heredity. Only about 10 percent know what radiation is. One adult American in five thinks the Sun revolves around the Earth, an idea science had abandoned by the 17th century.
------------------
Ok... let's not be picky... the fact that they don't understand what exactly molecules are, what radiation is, and the DNA - heredity relationship is UNDERSTANDABLE.... but.... ADULTS who think the sun revolves around the earth? LOL.. damn. :-\
On a side note, that means CWalker is not just a proud 10-percenter, but now we know he's also a 20-percenter. :D

That's just shameful. I failed high school chemistry twice (lazy, not stupid) and I still know what all that shit is. And I definately know the sun is the center of the universe.

You want to try again?
"Solar System". LOL I'm not trying to be an asshole or anything... it was just funny how you were like "that's shameful" and then said what you said...

Oh well. Can't win them all. Either way, I know what a molecule is (electron, proton, neutron/makes up an atom), and radiation (emission on natural occuring energy called radioactivity). 2 out of 3 ain't bad. But at least I don't think everything revolves around the earth. That's the shameful part of that article you posted. And yes, I'm very lazy. For the homework I actually did I got A's. It was just a boring class. Failed nonetheless, but I'm definately not stupid.

Hey! This is one of my favorite games!
It's called,
"I just went to school, I'm young and have an education... before I forget what I know and learned last year, lets make fun of all the people who don't remember what they learned in school because it's basically useless information!"
Sorry... I didn't know that people who took part in the study and were part of the 20% actually posted here. Next time I come across something like this, I'll PM you and ask if you're one of the dumbasses in the study... that way you won't get offended and have your asshole bleeding, uncle-fucker.
-
of course, the fact that the earth revolves around the sun and not the other way around is useless information! and who cares whether the earth is spherical or flat? The only thing that matters is the superbowl, hot dogs, budweiser, and single malt

What percent of the population voted Liberal last election? Same.
