Either the US or Israel needs to do something about this, PRONTO. All the other bitch ass countries are going to sit back and do nothing, so either the Americans or Israelis better take action and destroy Iran's nuclear facilities or we are in big trouble. BOMB THEM!

El Baradei: Iran only months away from a bomb

By JPOST.COM STAFF

IAEA chairman Muhammad ElBaradei on Monday confirmed Israel's assessment that Iran is only a few months away from creating an atomic bomb.

If Teheran indeed resumed its uranium enrichment in other plants, as threatened, it will take it only "a few months" to produce a nuclear bomb, El-Baradei told The Independent.

On the other hand, he warned, any attempt to resolve the crisis by non-diplomatic means would "open a Pandora's box. There would be efforts to isolate Iran; Iran would retaliate; and at the end of the day you have to go back to the negotiating table to find the solution."

JERUSALEM - Former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in remarks published Monday that he would support a pre-emptive strike against Iran's nuclear program. Netanyahu's comments, made in the heat of a campaign for leadership of the hardline Likud Party, drew criticism from rivals, who accused him of playing politics with the country's security. Iranian leaders brushed off the threat, warning that an attack "will have a lot of consequences."

Israeli leaders have long identified Iran as the nation's biggest threat. Israel accuses Tehran of supporting Palestinian militant groups and rejects Iran's claim that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said in October that Israel must be "wiped off the map."

Iran's announcement Monday that it plans to build a second nuclear power plant _ along with a deadly suicide bombing the same day by the Iranian-backed Islamic Jihad group in the central town of Netanya _ is likely to heighten Israel's concerns.

While Prime Minister Ariel Sharon says the world cannot accept a nuclear Iran, he contends that diplomacy remains the first line of defense. He has not said what should be done if diplomacy fails.

Netanyahu left few doubts about his solution: a pre-emptive strike similar to the 1981 attack ordered by then-Prime Minister Menachem Begin that destroyed an unfinished Iraqi nuclear reactor.

"I will continue the tradition established by Menachem Begin, who did not allow Iraq to develop such a nuclear threat against Israel, and by a daring and courageous act gave us two decades of tranquility," Netanyahu told the Maariv daily. "I believe that this is what Israel has to do."

Netanyahu, a bitter political enemy of Sharon, said he would support the prime minister if he carried out a pre-emptive strike. "If it is not done by the present government, I intend to lead the next government and to stop this threat. I will take every step required to avoid a situation in which Iran can threaten us with nuclear weapons."

Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz, a rival in the Likud race, said accused Netanyahu of making "inflammatory statements" that "endanger the very security of Israel."

"The nuclear issue has to be taken out of the election campaign," Mofaz said.

Sharon recently left the Likud to form a new centrist party, saying he will have more freedom to negotiate a peace deal with the Palestinians. Sharon is widely expected to win the March 28 general election, but analysts say the domestic campaign rhetoric could hurt the prime minister's cautious efforts in dealing with Iran.

Judith Kipper, a Middle East specialist at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, called Netanyahu's comments "a desperate political move." She said such remarks would make it difficult to have a "rational and sane discussion" about policy toward Iran and undermine U.S. and European efforts to curb the Iranian nuclear program.

"A war of words is not something anyone needs now," she said. "The U.S. and EU are trying to get Iran to calm down its nuclear program. Netanyahu pouring fuel on the fire is not going to help."

In Tehran, Ali Larijani, Iran's top nuclear negotiator, said he did not take Netanyahu's comments seriously. "If they make such a mistake, they will add to their own problems. Attacking Iran will have a lot of consequences," he said.

Experts say a unilateral military strike against Iran would be extremely difficult. In contrast to the Iraqi reactor, Iran's nuclear installations are heavily fortified and spread throughout the country. And Arab nations like Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia are unlikely to permit Israel to use their air space to carry out an attack.

Yo CWalker, you gonna go stock up on some more duck tape?

Why do you choose to live your life in fear like that?  You know your 100x more likely to commit suicide then suffer a terrorist attack.  Man, you've been so severely manipulated by these ridiculous red and yellow terror levels, man, you got to get a grip before you have a nervous breakdown.

Actually, I don't think Iran should have nukes, but I'm hardly worried about them using those weapons against us...do they even have missiles capable of reaching targets in America?  If the situation escalates, the best thing for America to do is set up Patriot missiles around Iran to shoot them down; I've heard those work pretty well.

Also, if the U.S. wants Iran to disarm, we have to make good on whatever disarmament treaty we sign with them.  Not like what we did with North Korea, when we pushed the Agreed Framework and then failed to live up to our end.

All of whom also have Patriots and other air-defense systems.  Especially since Iran's delivery systems are probably Scud missiles (which they might be) - those weapons were pretty much made obsolete by the development of the Patriots.

All the more reason to continue the war on terror. All the more reason why extreme purposes need to be taken to stop terror before it hits american soil.

Yes let them hit other countries, that's a lot better then stopping them. It's not like those terrorist will eventually strike America. ::)

Jesus same old crap again....Pakistan and its "secret labs" has been one of the most contributor's to Iran's search for nuclear, america knowingly sat back and didnt do shit about it, and before you say what could they have done they could have publicily denounced Pakistan's leadership and severed all ties but they didnt instead they allowed this to proceed. The second stomach churning fact is that Israel whose insane leadership have been responsible for many staged terror attacks and in fact got their precious state through terrorism has hundreds of nuclear weapons and yet the U.S continues to give Israel more aid to this one country then it does to all other countries combined. By doing this its actually funding a country to "indirectly" acquire yet more nukes.

People wake the f up do your research into how the U.S Liberty sank! it was attacked by Israeli fighter pilots with the knowing backing of senior members of the U.S government, it was set to be the pretext for a nuclear strike on Cairo, again this is well documented. So what do you have here a situation in the only country in the world to drop a nuclear bomb is funding another country who continue to strengthen their nuclear arsenal, and yet you are all going along with the furore of yes lets stop evil lets destoy Iran come on boys!.

Give me a break think for yourselves instead of being carried on with the plethora of propaganda. These are lying sick twisted criminals who will do whatever it takes to launch genocide against the arabs. Madelaine Albright when questioned about the deaths of 500,000 iraqi children as a consequence of the oil embargo was asked if she thought it was a price worth paying said yes I believe it was!. These people should be behind bars not running the worlds super power.

Truth

Staged Terrorist Acts? I wonder what you're talking about, can you back that up? Because here is a scenario that may seem, to you, familiar - Palestinian child dead from an Israeli bullet etc etc' only problem is THAT IT WAS STAGED

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=32137

As for aquiring national sovereignty through military force- is this something you oppose? And if we accept that such use of military force, per se, is in fact terrorism- do you oppose terrorism?

And just in case you oppose terrorism- how does your nonsupport of terrorism correlate with your support of Iran and its "nuclear ability"?

Please try answering me,
I don't want to come to an understanding that you're, in fact, full of it. Especially not after such an incisive post about brainwashed people and double standards.

Much respect.

Peace ;)

In July 1954 Egypt was plagued by a series of bomb outrages directed mainly against American and British property in Cairo and Alexandria. It was generally assumed that they were the work of the Moslem Brothers, then the most dangerous challenge to the still uncertain authority of Colonel (later President) Nasser and his two-year-old revolution. Nasser was negotiating with Britain over the evacuation of its giant military bases in the Suez Canal Zone, and, the Moslem Brothers, as zealous nationalists, were vigorously opposed to any Egyptian compromises.

It therefore came as a shock to world, and particularly Jewish opinion, when on 5 October the Egyptian Minister of the Interior, Zakaria Muhieddin, announced the break-up of a thirteen-man Israeli sabotage network. An 'anti-Semitic' frame-up was suspected.

Indignation increased when, on 11 December, the group was brought to trial. In the Israeli parliament, Prime Minister Moshe Sharett denounced the 'wicked plot hatched in Alexandria ... the show trial which is being organized there against a group of Jews who have fallen victims to false accusations and from who mit seems attempts are being made to extract confessions of imaginary crimes, by threats and torture . .

The trial established that the bombings had indeed been carried out by an Israeli espionage and terrorist network. This was headed by Colonel Avraharn Dar --alias John Darling-- and a core of professionals who had set themselves up in Egypt under various guises. They had recruited a number of Egyptian Jews; one of them was a young woman, Marcelle Ninio, who worked in the offices of a British company. Naturally, the eventual exposure of such an organization was not going to improve the lot of the vast majority of Egyptian Jews who wanted no-thing to do with Zionism.
