who saw kill bill
« on: October 18, 2003, 01:00:47 PM »
im not sure if this topic ever got brought up, but i just saw the movie last night. and i was so fucking excited. cos i bought tickets on opening day last week like 3 hours in advance, but being the fucking stoner that i am, i got caught up with smoking, and didnt get back to the theater until 5 minutes after the starting time, and being opening day, and four of us , there werent any open seats at all. so i had to wait another week (just cos of school and shit), and i just watched it yesterday, i was VERY IMPRESSED. the style of filming is fucking nuts and the concept is really good, and i really like how he incorporated all those colors and shit, crazy ass scene in the blue leaves house, i dunno, just the way he filmed it was pretty unrivaled. and he chose great set locations, which were unbelievable. the incorporation ofa ll the animation, and the music is fucking bomb, one of the few movies taht i actually can groove to,  i cant wait till number two, insane amounts of blood and violence, any of u guys know when volume 2 it comes out

good movie. Why didn't you find time to smoke before it so you wouldn't have been really late
It's 4:20, are you smoking?

amazing first half of a film....i wont judge the complete film since we only saw half of it...but at the pace its going...it looks like it will be one of the best movies ive seen in the few past years on the big screen

its wack though...many people werent attracted to this movie because of the dumb ass previews (anybody agree?) but the movie is completely different from the previews, the previews made it seem to be charlies angels 3, bastards

You got a point there. When I first saw the trailer I was like "uhm, so THIS is the big Tarantino project?". I didn't seem good at all.

It premiered in my country yesterday and of course I went to see it. And I have to say that this is definitely a good movie. And the cliff-hanger...damn! I was like "the film's finished already?".  :) Can't wait to go see the sequel.

^^ Tarantino, at the moment at least, has no problem compromising his art to make it more pallatable to movie exexs.  I can't say I blame him, but the trailer was probably the studio's idea, not his.  He makes little concessions like that in order to get the most out of the studio, he got excellent promotion (as far as lots of money thrown at it) & wide distribution, lots of hype, but he had to let them throw the trailer together.  I can't blame him for that.

Dope as hell, dope as hell for sure. Right when it was over I wanted to stay and see it again... And when I saw in the opening credits that RZA did the score I though to myself "This oughta be good..." and it sure was!!! The colors, the music, the cinematography, the dialogue, the fights... It was all awesome!

anybody know what songs the RZA actually composed? I think one of them has to be when the Bride is looking at all the swords, and all the swords are shiningreally brights...awesome scene

I believe he did all the ambient music.  Pretty much anything without words, he did.

It is Quentin Tarantino's 4th film.  The guy that has 2 classics and one really good movie under his name. He made the most influential movie from the 90s ( Pulp Fiction) He has resurrected the career of John Travolta.  So Kill Bill is his most recent film since Jackie Brown of 6 years ago. it was very anticipated from many people that know of him. But since the promotion of this film sucked, it didnt do that good.

Yup ... I spent all summer telling my friends about how awesome and gritty kill bill is gonna be (and it is)
but then my friend sees the trailor and tells me :"this looks like charlies' angels"
i had to show him pulp fiction and reservoir dogs to finally convince him that it isn't some crappy action movie ...that it is THE MOVIE to watch this year

for the sequel question, in a sense, it can be considered an off spin from pulp fiction, where uma thurman or "mia wallace" is talking to john travolta in the diner, and she talks about fox force five. there is an amazing resemblance in the way she describes fox force five, to the chracters in kill bill.
