Cam'ron - Come Home With Me [Quick Review]
« on: May 15, 2002, 10:44:09 PM »

1. Intro - Tight "Conan The Barbarian" type beat and Cam rips the track. 4/5

2. Losin' Weight - Ill beat. Cam comes nice and even Juelz drops a pretty nice verse. The original "Losin' Weight" blows this away though. 4/5

3. Oh Boy - Hot Mary J. sample. The beat is bangin'. I'm sure everyone has heard this before. 4/5

4. Live My Life - Sampled the classic Pac track "Ambitionz Az A Ridah". Cam spits some nice verses and Daz does a mediocre chorus. 3.5/5

5. Daydreaming - Lots of people like this track but I don't. Samples an old Aretha Franklin song but it's too boring for me. 3/5

6. Come Home With Me - Bangin' beat! Cam is ill and drops funny lines as usual. 4.5/5

7. Welcome To New York City - I'm sure most of you have heard this too. Cam and Jay drop nice verses and Juelz does the hook. Just Blaze killed the beat! 4.5/5

8. Hey Ma - Blatant attempt at commercialism. However they flip the Commodores' "Easy Like Sunday Morning" nicely. The beat is hot. The chorus is catchy but some might find it irritating. 3.5/5

9. On Fire Tonight - This song is probably the worst track on the album. The beat is boring but Cam is funny as usual with his witty lines. 2.5/5

10. Stop Calling - Nice beat. McGruff makes a guest appearance and outshines Cam. Both drop nice verses though. The chorus is kind of stupid though. 3.5/5

11. I Just Wanna - Pretty tight song with an nice beat and even Juelz comes above average again. 3.5/5

12. Dead Or Alive - KANYE WEST! This Chi-Town producer is on fire. Drops a hot beat for Cam and Cam does justice on it. 4.5/5

13. The Roc - JUST BLAZE! Damn these Roc in house producers are ill. This song been on mixtapes since January but it still sounds tight. Memph Bleek sounds like he improved on the track and Beans still dope. Cam rips the last verse. 4.5/5

14. Boy Boy - One of the only solo tracks on the album. Ill beat, nice verses and the chorus is funny. 4.5/5

15. Tomorrow - The only introspective song on the album. The beat is relaxed with a piano background. Chorus is nice. 4/5

Conclusion:
I only listened to this album once because I borrowed it so I didn't have time to actually study the songs which means it could grow on me in time. My cousin really enjoyed this album but that could be because Cam is his fav MC, I think. The album is pretty tight because the production is handled really well and Cam comes off nice with his verses. The only problem is the guest appearances by his garbage crew the Diplomats who are on virtually every song. There are too many songs about girls too. If you're lookin' for an album that just sounds tight but isn't bringing anything new to the table then I suggest cop it.

Overall - 4/5

Good review... although I haven't got the album yet, I heard 1/3 of this album, "Oh Boy", "Welcome To New York City", "Dead Alive", "The Roc" & "Live My Life"... what can I say, they're all AWESOME tracks... especially Welcome to NY w/ Jigga... damn that shit is FIRE, that's certainly a 5/5 WCV... props again on the review, peace.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.
