Outlawz - Novakane
« on: February 26, 2002, 05:36:46 AM »
I had very high hopes 4 this album and was dissapointed and impressed.  Overall this album was ok - not the greatest but not the worst, somewhere in the middle.  Here you go:

1.  Intro - Not worth it 2 review.

2.  Rize f/Big Syke - Great battle track.  I wish the Outlawz would of put more songs like this on this album.  But oh well, this song is tightly produced and each outlaw comes off hard as hell.  5/5

3.  This Is The Life - Not feeling the beat, but the Outlawz do alright with it.  Just can't get used 2 the beat.  Sounds nothing like the Outlawz usually do.  3/5

4.  Ghetto Gutta - One of my fav. on the album.  Has the sample from the Halloween movies in it.  And I fuckin' love that movie.  Only has Edi and Kastro on this song, wish it had Young Noble, my fav. outlaw but still this song shines.  Hard as hell, beat is the shit.  4.5/5

5.  Our Life - Def. the most commercial track the Outlawz have done 2 date.  But this song isn't bad at all.  This song just shows how good they can switch up topics.  Edi's verse is fuckin' hot, and very emotional.  Listen 2 it.  4/5

6.  Y'all Can't Do - Another one of those wierd beats that the Outlawz usually wouldn't do a song 2.  Sounds like something DMX would rap 2.  But the Outlawz suprisily shine.  Could of done without the chrous, it gets very annoying.  3.5/5

7.  INTERLUDE - funny one, but nothing worth rating

8.  Red Bull & Vodka - Produced by LT Hutton, and is a great party beat.  Makes you bounce around.  Young Noble has a great verse.  All Outlawz rap pretty good. One of the best songs on album. 5/5

9.  2nd Had Smoke - Dope ass song.  Beat is very slow paced and has a great piano riff in it.  A good ass metaphor song, all of the Outlawz lend good verses 2 it.  5/5

10. INTERLUDE - Not even going 2 waste my time.

11. Boxspring Boogie - Young Noble's solo and its fuckin' tight.  Good beat, great vocals by Noble.  Edi lends his hand 2 the chrous.  Gets you eager 2 hear a solo album by Noble.  My fav.  on the whole cd.  5/5

12.  History f/Seal - GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!  Beat is horrible, and Seal just messes up the song.  But it wouldn't be so bad, but the beat, damn, I just can't feel this song.  Nice try but not  very good.  1/5

13. So Many Storiez - Another emotional track, sort of like 2nd Hand Smoke.  All the Outlawz spit great.  They should just do battle and these types of songs.  5/5

14. World Wide (Remix) - Got 2 admit, this is my favorite version of this song.  Def.  more of a west coast feel 2 it.  Just wish I could've heard a new Pac verse not a recycled one I've heard a hundred times.  But the Outlawz have new  versese and its a tight song.  4/5

15. Die If You Wanna - Beat on this song is hellla tight.  Eerie as fuck.  But Napolean just doesn't do it 4 me.  But the beat is what I love about this song.  So I can listen 2 it.  3.5/5

16. INTERLUDE - Yes another damn interlude.

17. Loyalty - Great beat.  This beat reminds me of the song they did with Benzino.  Love this song.  Def.  a subtle diss 2 Fatal.  But everyone delivers a good verse.  Great way 2 end the album.  5/5

Like I said before this album was so-so, but def. a keeper if you down with the Lawz and Pac.  Overall I'd say 7/10.  All they can do is get better.  So be on the lookout.  Peace
