Sticky Fingaz - Autobio. of Krik Jones
« on: March 01, 2002, 06:59:02 AM »
I was never a huge fan of Sticky Fingaz, that is until I copped this album.  This album was by far one of the best the year it came out.  I feel it got slept on majorly.  Def.  worth the money, and 10x better than Fredro Starr's solo effort, though that was very good to.

1.  Intro - Opening credits sort of.  You see this album goes thru like a movie.  Its kinda hard 2 explain, if you have it then you know.  Perfect opening for this album.

2.  Come On - Great start to the album.  This song is my favorite on the whole album.  The beat is fuckin' tight, this song gets me so hyped up.  I like 2 play it b4 any type of games I'm bout to play.  Great song.  5/5

3.  My Dogz Iz My Gunz  - A solid cut right here.  Beat is alright but Sticky's energy and lyrics are just crazy.  Def. listenable track right here.  3.5/5

4.  Not Die'n - Another phat ass song.  Love the beat and the crazy ass lyrics.  The only problem is the chrous which gets very annoying after a couple hears.  But still a great track.  4/5

5.  Kirk Jones Conscience - Just a little interlude that goes along with the feel of the album, just skip it.

6.  Money Talks - Tight ass song.  Beat is laid back and perfect for Sticky's unusual laid back style.  Love the metaphors in this song.  Tight!!!  4.5/5

7.  Why - Great follow up.  Not the best beat, but both rappers flow tight over it.  Its a back and forth song, which tells a story with them conversating.  Don't have 2 skip it, def. worth a listen or two.  3.5/5

8.  Oh My God - This is probably the only track that I really hate on this album.  His flow and the way his voice is, is just really annoying.  But I do like the way "god" comes in and answers really wierd questions.  Worth one listen, then its skipable.  2.5/5

9.  State Vs. Kirk Jones - Love this song cuz of all the guest app. (2 many 2 name).  But again it tells a story, with back and forth convo.  Pretty tight, beat isn't the greatest but it gets the job done.  4/5

10. Kirk Jones Conscience II - Another interlude, just skip right to the next song.

11. Baby Brother - A laid back beat and kind of a slow song.  Telling his brother to change his ways before he ends up like him.  Great song, esp. if you have a little brother like me.  One of my fav.  4.5/5

12. Cheatin' - Another one of my fav. Talks about how to tell if your girls cheating and shit.  Def. a song 2 play around all them stupid chickenheads.  Beat is tight as hell, and lyrics are both funny and REAL!!!! lol.  5/5

13. What Chu Want - Not one of my fav.  2 me its one of my least fav on the album.  Its not that the song is bad, its just not as entertaining as the rest of the songs and has been done b4.  Beat is nothing great either.  Def.  a filler track.  2/5

14. Ghetto - Another funny track right here.  You'll like it if you love those Ghetto jokes that everyone tells.  Beat is alright, nothing great.  Lyrics are funny and pretty tight.  3.5/5

15. What If I Was  White f/Eminem - If you haven't heard this track, download, buy this album, do something cuz this track is funny as hell.  Beat is pretty hot 2.  Eminem is only on the chrous but provides some funny ass lines in the backround to Sticky's verses.  Love this fuckin' song.  Good idea.  Esp. 2 put Eminem on it.   5/5

16. Sister I'm Sorry - Sticky's ode to woman.  Beat is tight, laid back, you know your typical slow song.  Good message in this one, actually the only good message on the whole album.  4/5

17. Get It Up - Phat ass beat on this one.  Def. one that gets your head bobbing.  Good ass song.  4/5

18. Kirk Jones Conscience III - Yet another interlude.  Thank god its the last.

19. Licken Off In Hip-Hop - Average song.  Nothing special. But the beat is tight.  But Sticky's lyrics aren't great.  Listenable but don't expect something great.  3.5/5

20. Wonderful World - Remake of the classic song.  With a phat hip hop beat.  Sticky sings it just like the original.  Makes you want 2 sing along with him cuz of the phat hip hop beat.  Good way to end the album.  4/5

Overall I would give this album a 7.5/10.  And a pretty good offering for your first solo effort.  Sticky's raw energy and rawness come off on nearly every track.  He's one in a million.  His next album should be even better, with Dre doing some of the beats.  Can't wait for it to drop.

Good review homie, decent rating in all, although I don't agree with some of the lower ratings of some of them (I would of reated them a bit higher personally). This album is mad slept on, it's really original & is prolly one of the most creative records ever made & that I own.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.
