Wu-Tang Clan - The Flag Review

Wu-Tang Clan - Iron Flag

Awwwww yeah!

1. In The Hood
2. Rules
3. Chrome Wheels
4. Soul Power (Black Jungle)
5. Uzi (Pinky Ring)
6. One Of These Days
7. Yall Been Warned
8. Babies
9. Radioactive
10. Back In The Game
11. Iron Flag
12. Dashing Reasons

Wooooooo.... I am lovin this shit.  Keep in mind that I didn't like The W or Wu-Forever.... This shit sounds like they seriously focused for this album.... their last releases seemed all over the place to me... but this shit is just... DAMN!

"In The Hood"
Dope ass dark sounding Wu beat.... "What the fuck is wrong? It's the Wu bitch" man... i love it... just some straight spitting with some reggae type hook.... illness.

"Rules"
This has been my shit for about a week... and its just even better in CDQ....  it has the old sample of "Wu Tang! Wu Tang!" from 36.... "Who the fuck knock my buildings down? Who the man behind the world trade massacre step up now!, where the four planes at... fly that shit over my hood and get blown up quick"
INS also rips the joint...

"Chrome Wheels"
dope shit... they talking about women basically... there's a chick singing on the hook but it sounds ill.  I wonder if its blue raspberry....

"Soul Power"
dope bongo sounding drum.... Flava Flav on the intro... "2002 representing the motherfuckin Wu!"
just dope rhymes.... Flav does that shit on the hook...

"Uzi"
I didnt feel this when it was around as a mixtape song... I'm liking it better now... especially once the beat starts fully... great horn sample...

"One Of These Days" ... dope R&B hook.. either singing or sampled... sounds like some old soul shit.  slower paced than some of the other shit but good production.. nice loop.

"Ya'll Been Warned"
Meth rips the first verse.... I didnt really feel this as a single either but it sounds dope to me now... maybe I'm just caught up in the album... or maybe i was just deaf before...

"Babies"
laid back sax.... some singing... great story song.... you know how Wu can do it when they want to... real slow pace...

"Radioactive"  dope shit!... a lot of old style Wu samples "Wu Tang Style.." "You Will Be Punished..."
some great production... nice hard drum... Gza RIPS this shit!!! the others on this are Meth, Rae and the last has to be RZA.. but without the usual RZA statico flow...

"Back In The Game" "Its true.. the shaolin and the wu tang could be dangerous".... damn trackmasters laces this... dope drum/bass/piano shit.... Ron Isley sounds ill on it as well...

"Iron Flag" dope violin loop.... The beat and shit changes at the 3 minute mark... to some really grimy shit with drums/cymbals and bass.... some wierd shit.... this is really the only thing on the album im not feeling.. but that could change. i just dont like the voice going "Could They Report The Glock" a buncha times

"Dashing" nice production again... GZA is dope on this as well.. i like the shit at the start to the rhythm of "Dashing Through The Snow..."

the album ends with some classic Wu-style sample shit
"Your Faith In Shaolin Is courageous..."
"You have learned your style well.... Wu Tang Style"...

that's it folks...

Now.. a week ago i wouldn't have bothered with this album just because i hadnt heard any shit i was feeling.. then I heard Rules, Radioactive, Back In The Game and Soul Power.. so I checked it out.... and damn... I am very impressed.. I'll pick this up when I pick up Nas on the 18th....

Beats: 5/5
Rhymes: 5/5
Originality: 4.5/5

this shit will be considered classic down the road.

If this short piece of work called The Iron Flag doesnt go multiplatinum Im gonna kill somebody... For long years I've been waiting for a release from Wu-tang clan that would overtop 36 Chambers quality and WuForever sales.... My bad, its so hard being a Wu-Tang fan...  :-/

Iron Flag contains alotta W leftovers, plus it's too darn short itself. When they were recording The W, they were a lot busier. Nowadays RZA, GFK and Rae are the ones that really work, all others mostly aint got shit to do< thats why they made the whole thing so quick. People like GZA and U-God have no close future plans, thats why.
