:)

Here ya go. I was going to do it today too.

Busta Rhymes - Genesis

This is Busta Rhymes 5th album. His previous albums have all gone platinum and this one will go platinum as well without a problem. This may be his best album(at least production wise).

1. Intro - Busta's CEO telling him to release the album because it is hot to death and then Dolemite aka Rudy Ray Moore preaches to Busta a little. Its a tight way to get into this album.

2. Everybody Rise Again. Produced by Just Blaze. The sequel to his previous song Everybody Rise. I like this one alot better. The production is funky and Busta spits his usual venoumous rhymes over this beat. 4/5

3. As I Come Back. Produced by The Neptunes.  First off if you don't like the Neptunes then you shouldn't listen to this song. The beat is one of their typical beats I like the change up on the hook though. I like the beat cause it sounds like some outer space shit. Busta spits hot shit as well. AH OHH ALL OVER THE TRACK!!!!!
3.5/5

4. Shut 'Em Down 2002. Produced by Pete Rock.  A remake of Pete Rock's Shut 'Em Down.Sound very different compared to the rest of the album. Sounds Old School. It's ok but I did not like it much.
2/5

5. Genesis. Produced by Dilla.  This is some futuristic type shit. It fits the title perfectly. It welcomes you to the future. The beat is slow but Busta saves it by spitting his flow on it. He talks about the future and his evolution.
3/5

6. Betta Stay Up In Your House feat. Rah Digga. Produced by Yogi.  This guy is part of Puffy's Hittmen Production team but don't let that discourage you from this track. It uses a sample of "Eddie You Should Know Better" by Curtis Mayfield. It is blended perfectly into the track. Rah Digga and Busta Rhymes trade verses over this hot beat.
4.5/5

7. We Got What You Want. Produced by Just Blaze.  This guy Just Blaze is really impressing me. This is another funky beat provided by him. Sounds a little like "Everybody Rise Again" and Busta spits hot shit.
4/5

8. Truck Volume. Produced by Dr.Dre.  This beat sounds like "U Know" off Xzibit's "Restless" cd. So if you liked that beat you will definitely like this one. Scott Torch does a great job on the Keyboards. It really shows in this track. Truck Shit Now!!!!!!!   Turn My Music Up!!!!!!!   Busta did this track for bumping basically.
4.5/5

9. Pass The Courvoisier feat. P.Diddy. Produced by Nottz.  Puffy does his usual adlib shit in the beginning. He comes off wack to start this shit. The beat is not good at all and having Puffy on it doesn't help at all. The worst song on the album.
1/5

10. Break Ya Neck. Produced by Dr.Dre.  Incredible. Fast paced beat provided by Dre and Busta spits with a quickness on this beat. The best track on the album and thats why it was picked as the first single. Classic!!!!!
5/5

11. Bounce. Produced by Mel-Man. Mel's only track on the album but he sure makes sure it's hot. Sounds a little like Joe Beast's "No" track but this one is alot better. This song sounds good in your ride no doubt. A tight ass song.
4.5/5

12. Holla. Produced by Dr.Dre.  This beat sounds like "Bitch Please 2". It's hot though. Vintage Dre beat. This song was also on "The Wash" soundtrack.
4/5

13. Wife In Law. Produced by Diamond D. An RnB type track with Jaheim. Too RnB for Busta but he sounds aight on it. If you dislike RnB you won't like this track.
2/5

14. Ass on Your Shoulders feat. Kokane. Produced by Battlecat.  A funky beat by Battlecat. He doesn't have that classic clap he uses on this song. It perfectly fits Busta and Kokane does a surprisingly good job on the hook. This more funkier than usual for a Battlecat beat but its hot.
4/5

15. Make It Hurt. Produced by Dilla.  Damn this beat sounds like techno club type shit. Its unusual and it sounds too different from all the other tracks on this album. Busta spits fire over this not so special beat.
2.5/5

16. What It is feat. Kelis. Produced by The Neptunes.  This is the hit song he had during the summer. The Neptunes beat is surprisingly good but I don't like the hook. "Busta What it is Right Now", sounds too corny. Busta spits fire and this song is good except for the hook.
3.5/5

17. There's Only One feat. Mary J Blige. Produced by MichaelAngelo.  Another Funky beat provided by this unknown producer. Mary J does a great job on the hook. This song sounds like a good single for the radio.
3/5

18. You Ain't Fuckin' Wit Me. Produced by MichaelAngelo. At first I thought this was Battlecat. The beat sounds like something he would do so you know its good. Busta bustes his grimy verses over this hot westcoast like beat.
4/5

19. Match The Name With The Voice feat. Flipmode Squad. Produced by Just Blaze. This beat sounds alot like some Swizz Beatz  shit. Its ok. The Flipmode Squad make their only appearance on this album. They bring heat.
3/5

20. Bad Dreams. Produced by Nottz.  A very odd beat. Sounds like some Horror Movie Shit. Busta sounds real good over these type of beats unlike anyone else. Its a scary track.
Its about bad dreams so U know Busta spits some hard shit.
3/5

Now this is a great album from start to finish. Some tracks were really mediocre but the rest of the album makes up for them. This album sounds alot like an westcoast album. Busta sounds surprisingly good over the Dre,Mel Man and Battlecat beats. He should definitely work with them. Just Blaze also comes off tight on the production. Hardly any guest appearances so Busta holds this album strong by himself. This is a must get and alot better than the recent Eastcoast releases(Ja Rule and DMX albums don't come close to this one).

My rating????
4.5/5, A must get,IMO his best album to date.

P.S. This is only my second try at an album review.

Good review dogg.

One thing, you really think "Break Ya Neck" measures up with "Nuthing but A 'G' Thang" and and lets say "Gin & Juice" as classics?  "Break Ya Neck" is a good song, but not classic.  Peace!

I know you didnt ask me but Ill throw in my .02 anyways.  Yes-I think the song measures up to Nothin but a G thang, etc.  Trust me..I know a lot of non rap fans that go crazy for Break Ya Neck.  That song always gets things crunked.

Another thing-"Classic" is a personal opinion..so just because the original poster thinks its classic, doesn't give you the right to reply and just say "ITS NOT A CLASSIC" like his opinion doesn't matter.  That's one thing that Im really fed up with.  It's like yall are all lemmings and all agree that the only classics in hip hop are the early Snoop/Dre collabos.  There are many songs that I think are classics and when it comes to rating music your opinion is the only one that matters.  Pleezbelievit.

By classic I meant that it is classic on the album. It would be different If I said classic as an All-Time song. Glad to get props though, thanks dogg.

theres a lot of classic songs that dont measure up to nutin buta g thang for example,  just b/c one classic track doesnt measure up to another classic does not take away tha fact that it is a classic

I might take some heat for this but i think Break Ya Neck is one the worst Dre productions i've ever heard. And Busta annoys the hell out of me on that song.

I dont really like the Neptunes..but lets face it--They arent the worst producers in the world--if they were-everybody wouldnt be going out of there way to work with them.

IMO his best album to date.

I don't really like much of Busta's stuff, but I actually like this CD.  Good review.
