Outkast - Aquemini
« on: October 12, 2001, 10:04:10 PM »

1. Hold On, Be Strong 1:11
leave it to Kast for a dope little intro ....... sweet serenade type thing goin on here ......  i give it 10 for an intro.

2. Return Of The "G"  4:49
Andre 3000 spits a heated verse to start it off ....... nice keyboards on this one ....... 9.5

3. Rosa Parks  5:24
kinda annoying cuz the radio played the hell outta this song ... dope guitar stringin on this one ...... fast beat ....... dope hook ...... 8.5  too pop

4. Skew It On The Bar-B 3:15
okay the first 5 seconds of the beat is some shit!! " kast keep it jumpin like kangaroos" ......." the common denominator the nigga numerator".  "old skool playaz to new school foolz" .  this track is laced with memorable 1 liners . Raekwon guest stars on this one .  10 !

5. Aquemini  5:19
type of beat make u wanna blaze a blunt too.  vintage outkast on this laid back track. song is very dope but what puts it over the top is the breakdown in the middle on the song ....... then it picks back off with  big boi  rippin it from there ........ 9.5

6. Synthesizer 5:11
super fast futuristic beat ...... not a very catchy hook .  George Clinton the p funk allstar himself spices the track up ..... still kinda annoying beat after u listen to it for awhile ...... 7.5

7. Slump 5:09
oh boy ....... its that down south georgia thang !  soulful background vocals make this track so so rhythmic. goodie mob guest stars on this track .  the hook is top notch ...... overall one of the better tracks on the album ....... 9.5

8. West Savannah  4:03
every album has a weakest link type track ......... here it is. This track sounds like it should of been on  Southernplayalisticcaddilacfunkymuzik (1st album) . 6.5

9. Da Art Of Storytellin' (Part 1)  3:43
if u ever been at a party of whatever  and u hear this joint ...... ITS ON AND CRACKIN!!! .   even if u cant dance this song will make u move .  "its like that now , its like that now ,  u betta go get the hump up out your back now" .  10!

10. Da Art Of Storytellin' (Part 2)  2:48
this is the sleeper of the album .......... some people i know really didnt like this one ......... me personally  I FELT IT!!    Andre 3000 spits over a distorted sounding microphone and the piano loop is sick! ........ i give it  9.5  only cuz its too short !!!  1 more verse and its a 10.

11. Mamacita  5:52
the bitch in the 1st verse ruins the song........ she fucked it up. pretty simple beat with a little electric guitar in there .  too long of a song .  6

12. SpottieOttieDopaliscious  7:07
in all the years ive been alive (20) and have listened to music .....ive never heard a song like this one. COMPLETELY FUCKIN UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!  the horns in this song will blow u the fuck out the boxx ....... and Dre and Big boi dont even rap they just tell stories !!   this song is too short , 7 minutes aint long enuff . i could listen to this beat and especially them horns forever.....  anyways its  a  10+

13. Y'All Scared  4:50
Goodie mob and outkast collabo on this one .  some come wack some come tight .  fast forward to the 2:00 minute mark and listen from there .  7.5

14. Nathaniel  1:09
Phone call skit

15. Liberation  8:46
another one of them down south soulful type songs.  u have to let this song kick in after awhile .  personally i aint too fond of it ........ 6.

16. Chonkyfire  6:10
Electric Guitar  ........ loud ass drum loop ....... sick ass piano loop  right when Big Boi  comes in .........   "chonkyfire spiced with rocky road" ........ this joint is crazy...... turn this one up real Fuckin Loud !!!   .perfect   10 !!!   what a way to end an album .........  left me craving for more!

......The Source gave this album the legendary and just about untouchable 5 Mics........... and i agree 100%.  This album is ahead of its time by many years even decades.
Overall its a  9.99

awwwwww hell no!!!! you gace some of my favorite tracks low ratings!!!! here i'mma have to regualte now,lol

1. Hold on Be strong-Nice soulful intro kinda like on ATLiens but shorter....4/5

2. Rerturn of the Gangsta-this is some straight dopeness Andre rips this like a paper shredder and the beat is some FUNKY FUNKY shit.....5/5

3. Rosa Parks-This is one of my all time favorite kast songs, one way to describe this is INNOVATIVE! c'mon that hermonica solo is the funkiest thing since craigs dad on the toilet on Friday, Classic song played out or not......5/5

4. Skew it on the Bar-B-features Raekwon, like homie said above fullllllllllllll of witty lines nothing bad about this song AT all.....5/5

5. Aquemini-very graceful song where both dre and big boi trade off tight verses, very laid back and chill and words for the mind if you really listen to the lyrics and see behind their poetic metephors...5/5

6. Synthesizer-ooooooooooooooooooo booooooooy how can you underrate this track this track just gets better and better EVERY damn time i listen to it Andre fuckin RIPS it up and even though george clinton is barley on here (and it kinda would be better to have him off so you can here the GREAT beat in the back ground after the rapping) this song is perfect no flaw at all....5/5

7. slump-now this is a sweet track right here the beat is fuckin tight as hell and the chorus is FUCKING tight as hell but the other people rapping on here kinda ruin it but other than that it's still a .....4.75/5

8. West Savanah-now this is what i'm talking about, this track is fucking tight, this is one of the leftover tracks from Southernplayalisticadallacmuzik, but don't let the word left over fool you , this track is so good that it woulda been probably the best if not one of the top 3 best on their debut, this is basically Big boi shooting game like a pimp, kinda like snoop on lodi dodi with a very illistrated story....5/5

9. Da Art of Story telling-this cut is straight up classic no matter what way you look at it, from the perfect beat to the perfect verse from andre to the pretty good verse from big boi....yet another classic kast track....5/5

10. Da Art Of Story telling-now this track is still tight but no where near as tight as the first one the beat is a little overly crazy but it's still good....4/5

11. Mamacita-now i don't really dislike or hate this track but i don't really fully enjoy it either it's kinda annoying how it goes MAAAAAAMAAAAACITA! at the chorus and outkast hardly rhymes on here, so i gotta give it a ....3/5

12. SPottieOttieDopaliscious-this is some tight tight shit that alot of southern rappers tried to copy with that marching band type of beat, they're not really rapping here but it's like one of those spoken word poets and story teller type of things i know that sounds whack but outkast has of way making it a classic.....5/5

13. y'all scared-this track sucks that's all that needs to be said....2.5/5

14. Nathaniel-just a skit where some dude (i'm guessing his name is nathaniel) is freestyling over the phone

15. Liberation- now how the hell are you going to give this a low rating???????????? this song is fucking tight y'all one of OUtkasts best songs ever, it's like one of those classic soul and r&B epics that last 8 minutes and after it's over you feel elightened and empowered and just wanna listen to it forever.....10000000/5, lol but seriously 5/5

16. Chonkyfire- they should've had Liberation as the last song so it'd go out with a bang like Stankonia did but this song is fucking tight too, the Rock Guitar is tight as hell and the piano on here is tight and Andre is the man!.....4.25/5

overall this album is one of the greatest Rap albums ever, theres no way to debate that, it's one of the greatest produced rap albums and at the same time still hold it's own lyrically. It's Clear Andre is the Star here and this being their funkiest album this builds a nice cushion of beats for andre's funky and flaboiant style of rapping. and at the same time you got Big Boi spitting game like a real player and the musical styles compliment him well also. overall this is a 5/5 or 10/10 bonified classic one of the all time great hip hop records...PERIOD

LOL at Jake.

I have to agree though, he did underrate some of those songs. OTHERWISE, a nice review. Excellent album, one of the best ever [though ATLiens is my fav Outkast album].

I Think Aquemini Is Outkast's Best Song.  That Spoken Word HOok Is hoooottttt.  Plus, The Part Again Where Andre's Trippin Is Amazing.  It's The Hardest Song Since MC Ren, LOL.
