Out of print albums
« on: May 18, 2003, 10:37:19 PM »
Why is Above the Law's "Uncle Sam's Curse" OOP, but all there albums (which date back several years before that) still in print?  Same with Master P's "Ghetto Dope".  It's OOP, but everything else he's done including older TRU's are still available.  Makaveli was even OOP for awhile...why?

Probably cause they were such popular albums at the time, but for some reason, maybe due to lack of previous album sales, they didn't print a whole lot of copies.

Distribution problems etc. Legal action against labels or certain tracks on CD's where they will be forced to remove and later re-release with cuts which make the earlier album more special and valued.

Too complicated to go into though because it can be down to a number of things

crazy aint it.... its virtually impossible to get uncle sam's curse...
it took me about 1.5 years to source a copy... even with watches set up on ebay etc

Luckily I now have 2 copies :).. one vinyl copy i bought from hiphopsite via an ebay auction (before they had their rare vinyl section they used to auction them on ebay)about 2 years ago and a CD  I got from the notorious nino for a bargain price.  ;D

we had a thread before where we worked out that UCS in particular is hard to find because of the distributor ruthless was using at the particular point in time, which is why earlier ATL albums on a diff distro and later albums on tommy boy are easie to get.

mausbergs non-fiction

Don't think that's OOP - I got it a few weeks back in HMV for £18.
