Twiztid - Freekshow
« on: May 19, 2003, 11:09:10 AM »

Twiztid – Freekshow

1. Intro
2. Mutant X…Eerie piano loop begins the loop.  Quality production and dope flow by Monoxide and Madrox.  Addictive hook.  5/5
3. We don’t die…A lighter alternative sounding track.  The vocals sound perfect with the hip-hop/alternative mix.  Great hook.  5/5
4. Fall apart…Dope production with another tight piano loop.  Twiztid lay down some classic horrorcore lyrics.  4/5
5. Fuck on the first date…A song talking about hoes and bitches.  Good flow, but average production.  3.5/5
6. Do you really know?…Monoxide and Madrox spit lyrics of their dementia.  Simple, but effective chorus.  Decent production.  3.5/5
7. Leave me alone…Twiztid tries a different style on this track.  It’s got a twist of singing with the rapping.  Goes well with the producion.  4/5
8. People are strange…One of the best remakes or samples of an older song.  They sample the Doors’ song ‘Strange’, and mix it with a modern beat and ‘Twiztid’ lyrics.  5/5
9. All I ever wanted…Title is self explanatory.  Good subject matter, done with the horrorcore twist.  ICP appear to lay down tight verses as well.  4/5
10.   I wanna be…Madrox goes solo on this very short track, talking about he wants to be Batman.  3.5/5
11.   Bagz…A weed song. Average production and lyrics.  3.5/5
12.   Wut the dead like…Uptempo beat.  Twiztid and ICP spit tight horrorcore lines back and forth and Violent J philosophizes after each verse about death.  4/5
13.   Empty…Another creepy intro to the track.  No rapping is really done on here.  It’s a style more along the lines of an alternative song.  4/5
14.   Where itz goin’ down…Very unique production.  Track features Twiztid, Blaze, ABK, and Three 6 Mafia.  Everybody rips the track well.  Good hook.  4.5/5
15.   Broken wingz…Dope flow and tight production.  Great hook.  4/5
16.   Maniac killa…Not much present as far as production goes, but it fits with the vibe of the track.  ICP, Twiztid and Blaze lay down some tight vocals.  Great chorus, especially the way the production changes.  4/5
17.   Different…The track talks about how they are different from everyone else.  A+ chorus.  Dope production.  4.5/5
18.   I’m alright…Madrox and Monoxide each put down one verse about committing suicide and leaving everything behind.  Quality production.  Nice hook.  5/5

OVERALL…4.25/5

Twiztid went more horrorcore on this one than their previous release.  Dope lyrics and production reigns throughout the album.  Can definitely be listened to front to back without really having to skip anything.  Horrorcore at its best.

Tight......if you like Horrorcore, check out Dark Lotus - Tales from the Lotus Pod.  I've got that reviewed too.  It's my second favorite CD of all time.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.  5/5 IMO.

Also...make sure you get the 2001 release (if possible).  They re-released this album a year later and replaced Marz vocals with ABK's vocals.  It still sounds good, but Marz sounds a lot better.  If you can only find the 2002 release, holla at me and I'll hook you up with the Marz version.
