That's millions of lawsuits.  Just don't see it happening.  Just a bluff.

It'll never happen, No judge will sentence a kid to pay fines for mp3s, it's just not gonna happen.  MIRC's probalby untraceable anyways, everybody will just use it.

like ·SiNiStEr· said, they'll only go after the heavyweights. but it ain't bluffing though. i remember 1 or 2 months ago 2000 people were arrested in italy for sharing mp3s with p2p programs like kazaa.

But never got convicted because there are hunderts of rules to proof you innicent on mp3 sharing. Also Im pretty sure RIAA never won alot of cases.

Im pretty sure they knew they are going to lose but in meanwhile the newspapers hitted "2000 ppl convicted for mp3 sharing" and thats what the RIAA wants, scare people coz thats the only thing they can do.

The RIAA will go bankrupt 'cause of all the lawsuit expenses if they're really gonna do what they say, 'file "at least several hundred lawsuits" within eight to 10 weeks but --- continue to file lawsuits afterward on a regular basis.'

Just imagine - picking one person sharing mp3's on Kazaa or some shit, suing his/her ass and get money out their ass. Then look at the amount of people still using Kazaa - one guy is like a drop in all the seas and lakes and rivers found on this planet. So if they keep suin' people, they're up against an unbeatable foe - they can't possibly sue everybody who uses sharing programs to share mp3's. There's no - way - in - hell they can do that. Not the resources of the world could pay for that.

And the money amounts are just plain utopia - imagine paying $150,000 for every mp3 you got. Imagine paying even the minimum (of what they say) - $750 apiece. I ain't got a lot of mp3's - only 259 that weren't distributed on free downloadable mixtapes and even some of those I have the right to have as mp3's, 'cause I own the record the song is on. If they'd charge me the $750 apiece, I'd owe the RIAA $194,250. I'd manage get that much after my parents sell both our cars and our apartment. Basically, suing regular joes for such vast amounts of money is useless - they'll never get that money. (Although it's not money they want - they want to end piracy. But it's still useless.)

I'm not mad 'cause the RIAA has cooked up a plan like this - I'm mad 'cause the recording industry is ran by a bunch of idiots who actually think they can accomplish something like this. No wonder the music business is fucked up.
