C.V.: Bink (Halted....)
« on: October 19, 2003, 09:10:51 PM »
I know many of you will probably be angry with me, but this has bothered my spirit for a long time and I am finally responding to it.  I will no longer be updating or sponsoring this resume or any of the other ones that I've done.  Some of you may not understand what I'm doing, but I feel that what I've done is give a voice to music with destructive messages and language, and in the process, follow a form of idolatry.  Here's a post that explains my revelation from a thread on another site:

http://community.allhiphop.com/showpost.php?p=8533567&postcount=122

Quote from: impulsive106
Just about all of my life I considered myself to be a Christian.  I grew up in the church singing and being part of Easter proceedings.  I got baptized at an early age.  I left church when I moved at the age of 8 and went sporadically since.  It wasn't until my senior year in high school and really, my freshman year in college that I got back into going to church, humbling myself with the Word, and being in fellowship with other Christians.

At the time that I got back into church, I was still partying, being lazy, and listening to secular music.  My pride got in my way of feeling guilt, so I gradually stopped going and meditating with the Word.

This past week, I experimented with myself.  I have satellite television, and with it, there are 4 Christian channels: TBN, EWTN, SkyAngel, and DayStar.  All of those channels I ignored with fervency.  Then I thought, if I'm supposed to be a Christian, why am I scared to watch these channels?  So I made it my duty to watch them for an entire week to see what would happen.  (This was not a spontaneous experiment, my art history class and a couple of threads on this site were some of my inspiration.)

One program in particular that caught my attention, was that of Kirk Cameron's (from "Growing Pains" fame).  He had a show with a fellow evangelist, Ray Comfort, in which they explained how to share the gospel with other people.  They asked other Christians how they shared their faith with others, and the ones showed didn't think it was a big deal to do so, and said they did it more with their actions than with their tongues (something I did).  Here's where I felt convicted:  Then they asked (paraphrasing), "What if they die tomorrow?  They won't have a chance at eternal life."  That resonated with me so deeply; I was in shock at how selfish I was.

Afterwards, they evangelized to people off of the streets.  As a preface, here's a scripture from Romans 6:23 :

For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

They asked the people, with accordance to the Ten Commandments, if they ever lied, stolen, or lusted after a person (committing adultery in their heart), of which the people felt guilty but some tried to disguise it.  By those sins and others, we were destined to die forever in Hell, but Christ paid the price for that by being the perfect sacrifice, and if we plead the blood of Christ, we are saved eternally and destined for Heaven.  I can't remember having the gospel explained to me in that fashion; it made me feel guilty, but instead of running from it, I ran to it, erasing pride from the equation (James 4:10).

Another program that connected with me, was a talk show from a woman named Joni Lamb on the DayStar channel.  One of her guests talked about how Christians should be eternally minded by also helping to further the Kingdom of God on earth (i.e. evangelizing, fulfilling God's purpose for your life, etc.), which also convicted me because I wasn't doing much of that like in the case above.

I watched programs and preachers this week, following what I didn't want to follow at first:

And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (Galatians 5:24)

In doing so, I finally feel like a Christian.  I'm not holding on to what sinful things I've done in the past.  As a matter of fact, whenever I turned on the radio or television to secular music and images, I was repulsed by them unlike before to the point where I want nothing to do with them.  This was not an easy transition; it is very hard to deny yourself of things you think you want, but it is ultimately better in the long run is what I've realized.  This particular scripture comes to mind:

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2)

I really do feel like a changed person.  Before, I could never understand why people cried in church coming to the altar.  Now I understand; the word of God humbles you to the point where you recognize your faults and the guilt is tremendous.

Truly, there's nothing wrong with guilt, guilt is what prompts change in life.  Before this week-long revelation, I followed certain things such as abstinence until marriage, and avoiding evil thoughts and actions, praying for the Holy Spirit to banish them from my mind, and I've never regretted doing so because of the positive consequences of such.  The only things that I regret are involved with committing sin, which is ultimately the path to destruction.  I'd never truly associated pride with sin, but now that I have, I feel like I'm on a new, better path in life.  I'll be persecuted, maybe even after a poster reads this, he or she will quote me telling me how wrong I am, and how weak-minded I am, but to answer the question of the thread:

Religion is only as real as a believer makes it out to be.  It has never felt so real to me in my entire life.  And if you feel a connection with what I've said to where it has touched your heart and humbled you, don't be afraid to try God out for yourself by repenting, studying the Word and getting in fellowship with others that have had the same revelation.  I am by no means finished with my study of the Word, but I felt that I needed to share this in this thread, to this message board.

Quote
Cube: We had a lot of different producers. I oversaw some of the arrangements, because we used young producers as well as people as QD III who have a lot of experience. We used a guy named Bud’da who’s Sam Sneed’s cousin. We used one of this producers named Binky. They young so you gotta kinda like take the music and make it into the songs that you hear.
